Many player, including ourselves, like to change the look of GTA:SA.
However be aware that many mods do more than just visual effects.
Today we had another instance of CLEO mods suddenly raising the screen cash.
While we do not oppose againt players making a visual change, please understand once again that
ANY change that influences GTA:SA other than purely visual is forbidden.
If your mods:
- change the weight of a car
- change the braking
- auto-drive
- create weapons
- spawn vehicles
- create cash
or just any of the above, it is forbidden to use them, and if we find anything strange the player can be banned.
Please note that these mods can also contribute to crashing your game, and probably to the frequent crashes on server.
DO NOT USE ANY MODS UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THEY ARE ONLY VISUAL.
-
When I install mods, I use IMG tool, so nothing gets changed but the look of the car or skin.

- Changing handling line
Add changing handling line too, maybe :)

I was wondering, does SAMI change the handaling, to be safe, I just replace the DFF and TXD files of cars in IMGTool.

How am i suposed to know if they do change ?

SAMI can change handling line I guess, but I am not sure.

SAMI was already noted in causing bans.
And yes, changing the handling line is also forbidden.
-
Yeah but how can i be sure it didint change anything?
-
Install the mods manually with IMGTool, only required to replace two files - takes 1 or 2 minutes in total.

IMGTool is the most effective way to achieve this.
-
Img tool takes ages...
-
Believe me, it doesn't. I used it when I used to make skins for a community on VC, I had to replace tens of textures with IMGTool in an hour, no problem at all. So changing 2 files (also by using the search tool to find correct file) is not that hard.. it's small price to pay that you don't get banned on the server you love the most. :)

You need to adjust compatability to 98/Me, because it used to take me ages but now it is quicker than GGMM and SAMI.
-
The only files that can be changed are the .dff and the .txd ones. Use Spark it replaces the files faster then IMG Tool
-
I installed the LS-RP modpack with SAMI and I haven't seen any changes with how my things are working. If anyone sees anything wrong with how I shoot SMG/deagle then tell me ASAP so I can fix it please.

Gonna ask a question here, I met Traser today in-game he had found this CLEO mod, which maker your car to wheelie if you press a button, but doesnt the change the handling, so is mods like this forbidden?
-
A couple of days ago I started looking at mods. I'm not sure if I can advertise the big sites here so I wont. Anyway...most car mods are not just for visual. There are two things I've noticed that is often the case:
1. The download page says, replace this with that car, and then the file names are a different car.
2. The handling is most of the time modified, you can read about how they changed it in the readme file.
I think it would be good to have a sticky topic where we could post mods to get approval for using it.
-
I'd also like to add that when you download a carmod it may not change the handling.cfg file but when it changes the structure of the car it also may change how the car handles turns etc. I did 2-wheels all the time with my old cruiser mod so I deleted it.

Img tool takes ages...
Then dont MOD your GTA SA , to avoid getting banned =)
-
If you are using SAMI to install mod, make you you delete "readme" from the .rar or .zip archive before installing, readme usually contains the modified handling, and SAMI reads and changes it from the readme.

Haha ofcourse.. Anything that changes the original car handling is not allowed.
-

It doesnt change it.
-
If it makes you drive on 2 wheels its changing the handling!!

Agreed

As long as you are only changing .txd files, you should be fine. No .txd can change performance, at all.
The .dff files on cars can change weight/axle distance/collision detection, but the difference should be small at best. Nonetheless, it isn't advised.

Thank you..... now i can easily mod up my cars with IMG tool and safely :)
-
Modifying the DFF is indeed not advised.
The reason is that if you change the size of a vehicle by a large amount, the collision detection will be different.
The result is a desync between your game and the server, which causes crashes.
-
Actually the .dff does not change the collision
-
GGM is boss, takes two seconds.
SAMI never worked and it was too hard.
-
Actually the .dff does not change the collision
The collision detection for a model is stored in the .dff file.
How a vehicle handles said collision is in the handling file.
The handling file cannot be changed in SA-MP since like 0.2.
-
Well most cars retain the original collision.
-
I got mods on all weapons and a shitload of ped skins, all installed in IMGtool, for some reason SAMI doesn't work for me. When I try to use a carmod, it always fuck my game up in some way, and I'm always a little scared that it will change the handling, so I end up uninstalling it.
-
Don't install Carmods, they fuck your San Andreas up.
I only advise you guys to install Skin-/Weapon-/General Texturemods.
-
even if you dont change anything except the dff and the txd files the car starts to handle in a bit different way - i used to have a huntley mod which had soft suspention in which the car easely fliped over, and a mod for sentinel - which made the sliding more out of control.
-
That'll be the .dff changing the weight of your car, among other things.
-
IMGTool for the way :P
never change handlings... just use 2-5 moddified cars ;) just to make GTA:SA a lil better...
-
i dont understand anything of IMG tool, SAMI is a lot easier, therefore i use SAMI mostly,
but the ones i use dont change anything as far as i noticed
and i guess if a mod of me does change anything i will hear it so i can delete it
-
I have all kinds of shitloads of mods DLed such as CLEO mods and San Andreas Citizens and Things to do in San Andreas :D
When I get my internet back I definety have to reinstall my gta or just redownload it into different folder :P
-
I downloaded a new "look" of the police rancher, That wasen't good, I could not even drive it, The handling was to bad, The car exploded all the time ;P
-
seriously?? why do you need to change it??
-
Please post links of mods I can use. ;)

It's simple, just don't edit the forbidden areas and you'll be fine. I am talking about handling.cfg, carmods.cfg and everything else that requires editing with a special procedure than you don't know or know it's not allowed.
