Title: Playstation 3 Bundle - Was It Worth It?
Post by: Fabio on August 05, 2009, 08:54:43 pm
Today, I purchased my very first PS3, from Amazon, it should be arriving sometime this week, I was wondering, how good is the console, and was my Bundle for the price good?

Bundle Includes:

80GB Playstation 3
Terminator: Salvation (Game)
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (Blu-ray)
HDMI Cable (Special Amazon Offer)

This cost me £279.99, and delivery is free.

Was this a good offer.

I heard the game sucks, but otherwise you made a good deal.
Add me to your PSN, once you get it: reaver23

And they've stopped making 20GB, 40GB (which I have) and 60GB versions as far as I know. I'd really want to get the 160GB version :(

Truth.

I bought an PS3 for around 700AUD. and in my honest opinion:

What a load of crap.

Xbox 360 is much better in the fact you get what you pay for, in the case of XBL.

The console is better, and alot cheaper, also much more user friendly.

360 > PS3.

That is all.

We don't want a console war in this topic, Xbox fans stay out, PS3 fans stay in

Xbox, Wii and PS3 is the same generation console and have different properties and functionality which make them decent consoles, i don't see you getting as much excerise on the Xbox as the Wii, or a blueray player in the Xbox as the PS3 has intergrated.

Xbox has a decent online community and stability as it has been running long than the PS3 Servers, but their just as equal and i've played on all 3 consoles and have 2 of them and i love them both.

I am not fan boy,
I purchased both consoles, and i found that the xbox 360 is better in many ways, and the ps3 is better in some ways.

Xbox 360 Pros:
360 Exclusives.

Reliable, Stable Online Service.

Party Chat outside of game.

Patches don't take 100000 years to download, in fact, they take, (usually) 10-15 seconds, even on capped internet.

They have a much better community, (Many ps3 online games never had anyone one [the ones i played anyway])

It is much, much cheaper. (The cheapest set you can purchase is 299 AUD, which is 174 Euros, and 250 United States Dollars. The best version, elite is 500 dollars Australian, which is 421 USD and 291 Euro's, which also includes 2 games and a 120 gig hard drive.)

Plays Original Xbox Games. (most of the original xbox games still work on the xbox 360, after an update, which you may need"

Xbox Store, which includes many Xbox Originals, Demo's and Arcade games.

Much more user friendly, does not require

Xbox 360 Cons:
Easy Overheating, (Only with older models)

RRoD (Red Ring of Death, Happens mainly with older models, happened to mine.)

No Internet Browser

Having to buy a certain amount of points for a game. For example, I want to buy a 800 point game, which is around 14 dollars AUD. (8 Euros, 11USD), but i cannot just pay 14 dollars, i have to buy 1000 microsoft points, which cost 16 Australian Dollars, etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS3 Pros:
Blu-ray player.

Internet Browser

PS3 Exclusives.

Not having to buy points at the Store, just paying the exact amount.

Slightly Better Graphics.

Free themes from the internet.

Umm. thats about it.. :)

PS3 Cons:
No chatting outside of game (unless you go to that screen of which you have to stay in)

Expensive. (something like, 700 dollars, AU, you do the math)

Horrible Community.

Extremely Un-user friendly (it took me about 10 minutes to find where to plug my headset in, which then took another 5 minutes to get it working, whereas with the xbox, you click the connect button and power button, and its connected.)

Lag. (Many of the games had lag, even with Green Bar Connection.)

Cannot Play PS2 Games. (This is just stupid. One of the main reasons i bought my Ps3, was to play some of my old ps2 games, of which i found out saying, "HAY U CANT PLAY PS2 GAMES, CUZ WE SAID SO, SO SMD!"

Having to buy an external Component/HDMI cable, when the 360 comes with component as standard.

This is completely unbiased.
I really wanted to like the PS3, but against the 360, the odds are stacked in Microsoft's Favor.
But please dont let my post deterr you from buying a PS3, as it is still a great console, but it has some flaws, just will all other consoles.

Thanks.
<3.
PS. If you feel i should add anything to either lists. Please contact me and i will add it.

I don't see how it has horrible community lol. I got my headset plugged and working in just 1-2 minutes and at least I haven't have lag in the multiplayer games I play. Some PS3 versions can play at least some PS2 games and some of the versions come with the HDMI cable, at least in my country.

A couple of weeks ago, I was planning to buy a Xbox360, because I thought I would never have enough for a PS3, it was taking so long, so I started reading some reviews online, and I heard about Ring Of Death and stuff, so I decided not to buy it and wait, and now I finally had enough for a PS3.

That was due to the old models being not properly soldered, etc.

so, that problem is fixed
and you shouldnt get it with the new consoles.

The Blu-ray player allows more then just "slightly better" graphics.  With online service- it always works.  If your crashing in game, that is due to the host of the game.  "MAG" is being released soon, with the capacity of 256 players in one game, on top of Resistance 2 supports 60 players.  I haven't seen a 360 game that can out number the numbers of players of the latter game.  And about your user friendly notion, you must be ignorant or just plain dumb, as the XMB is easy enough for a monkey to use.

All of your statements are made without and detailed info.  Now go play your Halo 3 and act like a pre-madonna over the microphone, as your no different from those thumb sucking 10 year olds that you most likely play with.

When you show me a monkey installing a Wireless Accesory or getting your TV to play Blu-ray with the highest quality, i will fully and holly agree with you.

EDIT:
This is what im talking about.
[yt=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ngvnnMPbDg[/yt]
That is to get Blu-Ray to work the best. Look at ALL THOSE OPTIONS.
I'm obviously not ignorant, as that is alot of settings, and its only for video.

I never said that the online service DOES NOT WORK. I stated that it had a fairly undecent community. Please READ my full post, before trying to taunt me.

... and they called me a fanboy.
pfft.

I have afirst edition 60GB PC....it's RARE :D Got it on the day it came out.

And stop the 360 vs PS3 bull...both are great consoles and are very simillar and even though they are different, both console eventually balance each other out.

Yes. I agree.

No more XBox Vs Ps3.

well for players who wanna upgrade there ps3 system harddrive i have a nice vid that helps i been making lots of cash doing this for ppl at my school and it is very cheap to do

NOTE: DOES NOT WORK WITH 20GB PS3 (idk why i tried with a guy's at school)

the vid ---> http://www.youtube.com/v/NNSytaL9hnI&hl=en&fs=1&

follow that very carefully and i have upgraded MY 60GB and 80GB ps3's and they work fine

both my ps3's have 360 GB of room i think it 60 not sure but it is above 300+GB i know it alot of space but it downloads the demo's fast as hell

also this is 1 thing better then the XBOX 360 you can't change that harddrive other wise if you do on the xbox you void your warrenty

ON THE PS3 CHANGING HARDDRIVE DOES NOT VOID WARRENTY

note: i am not a fan boy i own 2 ps3's 1 xbox360 and a Wii
