Firefox is not an A/V program. In fact, the only time it even scans dl'ed files is if you have an actual A/V program installed.

I personally recommend nothing and FF to block from bad websites. Thats what I do, and I havent gotten a virus in more than a year.

AVG Free(current version is 8.5).
It's free, it works perfectly without problems, warns every treath in the computer, even when you Google something up, it tells if it's safe or not.

No, but he means that he uses that as a replacement of Internet Explorer. Firefox is ALOT safer then Internet Explorer, and also alot faster. (don't fool Microsoft you with the "get the facts" joke, it's bullshit!)

I used to use AVG Free then I realised it didn't really do much. It tells you that you have a virus, then doesn't do anything whatsoever about it. (Virus scan shows infections found more than infections taken care of). Or at least that's my experience of it.
Now I use Avast home which is brilliant except for a stupidly loud voice when it updates every night.

No, no. As when it finds a threat, it gives you options. Move to the vault or let it bypass/ignore it.
It have only actually found virus files on my PC.

Avast once thought that a .psd picture I drew was a trojan..

Who are you? Christopher Columbus? There is no need to discover America again.
Extensions I mentioned prevent you from dangerous scripts on the internet..
What I said in my first post is what I use at the same time..

I use McAfee and it works great. I've never had problems with viruses and such. Though I'm probably going to switch to something free when my subscription ends, some time next year. I'm not sure how it compares with the others that you listed on the poll.

- AVG: for small users (like me), who doesn't realy DL much and less internet
- NOD23: for more heavier PC (good one)
- Avast: Very good one, strong and up to date, but blokking many things (maybe a bit to strong)
- Firefox: didn't know they had one lol

i think its NOD32 lol not NOD23 :D

I use Kaspersky AV and Zone Alarm Internet security those are diffirent programs kespersky is protecting inside and ZoneAlarm outside

i recommend Zone Alarm for anyone who wants to be protected i wasn't attacked even by  banners for last 5 months  :D

used Avira too its great but Kaspersky is better

I personally recommend nothing and FF to block from bad websites. Thats what I do, and I havent gotten a virus in more than a year.

Thats because you don't have an A/V progam to scan for one! Jesus Christ....

Norton is best by far. NOD32 has problems with compatability with programs and blocks alot of connections, you have to make many exceptions for this program, Avast is simillar and Kaspersky...well i've never heard of it up until last year or so...so i wouldn't recommend it as I haven't had a chance to try it. AVG is good, like Toven said, for smal users, but if you DL alot and use the internet alot, you will need heavy duty gear like McAfee or Norton.

I DL a lot and use the internet a lot, I can guarentee even more than most people here, and AVG does all I want it to. Detect viruses when they are opening.
It's all you really need.

Go with Norton! it's my surname so it must be good!

But anyway i would recommend Norton, it has always blocked nasty trojans and viruses upon activation, but it can be a pain in the backside with some issue but by far a really decent piece of computer engineering.

AVG would second best.

Avast and COMODO Firewall
= The epic wall of free antivirus awesomess and living without viruses or trojans.

Both Avast and COMODO Firewall are free, and I've been using them together for over 2 years now.
I have not had a single virus or trojan on my PC afterwards or anyone trying to get into my files.
At start COMODO may a bitch because it alarms on so many files you're processing, but after
few days you'll access the awesomess I've had for 2 years already. So, go for Avast and COMODO.

My laptop is quite messed up. Or, it was, now it reduced. Later on(sometime when I feel to), I'll re-install it if that's how you say in English. But it's coming bluescreen now and then, and a lot of crashes occurs, but at least it made in-coming virus to stop, the regards to the program for that goes to NOD32.
