Some or some may not know that there is terror unfolding in Greece right now.
The country is in a state of Emergancy as firefighters and the state struggles to cope with the forest fires which are causing much air pollution and damage to the country and is claiming lives.
This year there have been over 100 Deaths and over $5,000,000(Much more im sure but i dont know the exact figure) worth of damage.
It's not just Greece who is suffering from forest fires...
In California over 500 have died in the past years from forest fires. Millions of Dollars are being lost and Hundred of thousands of People are suffering.
---------------
Find out more about the terrors by searching "Greece Forest Fires 2009" on any Search Engine.

Mother nature is mad.... Poor grecians.
Indeed, I cannot imagine how the people in Greece feel about that... this is very unfortunate and I do not wish it to any country!

Some day, a whole country or state is gonna be on fire if this crap keeps happening. We will probably have it happen to a large city in california, then we should really just start getting those Water planes and drop the big old amount of water over the fire. I don't know why we just use those more often.
-
In California, they do. They use planes filled with fire retardant as well. They just aren't very effective because a plane or a helicopter can't get close enough, especially while moving, to drop the contents exactly onto the fire where they need to. Instead, the stuff spreads out as it falls, making it less effective, not to mention it doesn't always go where they intend it to.

we are not poor ;)...
1st, 2 years ago the mountain i live at, was burned down too.
now, the 2nd "air" of Athens is getting burned down. now water is polluted in a lot areas here...... it all started off by a Trashyard. + the team-work of Fire Fighters made that all. they were shitting their heads. they did a nothing. if they had done, there should be only 1/4 the current damage be done. idiots.
They only burn forest to build villas there. F**king idiots.
yes, it's a big loose. Thousands and thousands for trees were burned down. a lot of animals died aswell too.
yesterday we had a FPD's Plane crash on a water-wave aswell. which even reduced the help of the Fire Department's Planes/Helicopters.
just tell me. how would you feel if you lived in a country where there are HUGE Fires once every 1-2 years????....
-
I would feel horrible.
But It's not that hot to get forests burning in the UK.
I can only guess what the people of Greece's lungs may feel like .
