Okay. So Im playing SAMP, and I crash. I decide to close a few windows to make my gaming experience run a bit faster, when suddenly my monitor goes on to standby, so im thinking wtf? I restard my PC, and load up the Compaq screen at the start of booting my PC, but it has red pinstripes through it, corrupting the image. It passes that screen and comes to the Windows Vista loading screen, this has MORE stripes across the screen of a different colour. It finishes loading, and right before it should arrive at the desktop it goes black and stays like that.
I have restarted it atleast 10 times, re-installed Vista, removed Vista and put XP on it... The screen still has random stripes across it, and blacks out.
I have no idea what caused it, does anyone have any ideas?
It seems like my monitor is corrupted... but I cant think how thats possible.

Try to boot in safe mode, and see if there are still stripes.
-
I did, stripes remain.

Try a different monitor? Good to start off easy then get a little harder. Yea just use any monitor that is ok. If stripes remain. Keep this topic alive, ill do some searches contact some friends, see what we come up with.

I have the feeling it's your monitor..

I saw a video where a guy takes his 8800gt puts it in his machine, the bootup starts and he has squeares, similar to the lines i might predict. Anyway, the vid was showing that you can fix you gpu using an owen heated up to 200 degrees, which kind of puts the contacts together maybe. Well, maybe your gpu is fucked. try youtube i guess

I dont have another monitor handy, but I did try the monitor in question with two other XP running PC's, there was no issue.

Your Graphics Card probably got half-cooked.

That means he has a pretty bad energy block (Or how the hell that thing is called, with vatt). Anyway, it's 60% your graphic card. If not? Then it's that energy block you have too weak, or it got broken.

Well Im a bit of a retard when it comes to computers, so any idea's of what I should do to help it?
If I need to buy a new graphics card, which can I get for a decent price that would be worth buying?
Is there a way to do it without needing to buy a new one?
