Title: Looking for experienced coders!
Post by: SugarD on August 25, 2009, 08:00:50 am
Hey guys, I'm looking for any experienced coders here. It's a call out to the community. Now that MTA:SA 1.0 is out, and it's source is open, AND by chance it's based on the [originally-proposed for MTA:VC] "Blue" engine, I'm looking to create an unofficial dev team that would be willing to start an open-source project to convert the "Blue" engine from SA to 3/VC so MTA can once again be re-developed for the older games that we love and enjoy. According to the MTA team, there is a chance they could do it in the near future, but they would need a much larger team to do it. Well, according to them as well, MTA:SA and it's "Blue" engine are open source. That means we can make the dream a reality once and for all, and in-turn, Argo users can greatly benefit from it. I will continue to contact the MTA team about open-sourcing MTA 0.5 so we can view the messy code they had so we have a base to start from, but for the most part this will be a "from-scratch" fan-based project.

Currently, MTA:SA 1.0 is C/C++ based. I'm looking for coders experienced in this field to help start this project and get it rolling to further the future of such a great multiplayer client that GTA3:MTA/MTA:VC is. Please, no bad comments, flamings, or spam. Keep it on topic.

I am also looking for website webmasters/coders and media managers willing to assist in a site while the project is being developed.

Keep in mind this is not an official Argonath Community project. It is a project for MTA fans to bring back the glory days of our beloved games.

I knew only one guy who could code with C++ in ArgonathRPG and that was Niall, who, if I reckon correctly was banned or left...
Other guy is Gandalf, third is Aragorn.

Come on guys, I'm desperate here. I was hoping that when I came back tonight to check this topic that there'd be atleast a few applications...

Man, even the MTA team is willing to help us with the project!

I have only very basic knowledge on C/C++, though I'd love to help.

After this school year I might learn some more things.

Here's the project's logo. This is temporarily (Because I hate that damn default forum logo), until we come up with a better one.

:ps: Ignore the blobs around the logo, it's acting really strange.. but like I said, it's temporary

Do you want to join? IRC scripting could be useful for us, and the PHP is good for coding websites. The flash stuff is a bonus towards our media section as well. It's all up to you.

I think I can do things in the media group.

I make sometimes video's, and have experience in how to make them.

I'd love to be in the media team. I have intermediate/expert photoshop experience. I can help you with any ideas, and public relations.

I have pretty decent HTML knowledge, although I'm still in a beginner stage. I guess I could help with web-mastering.

If accepted, I'd prefer to be in the web-mastering team as I see you have more than enough for media.

Thanks, Wash. :D
