Hello i got a ps3 like a month ago and i want to keep it in top shape, so i cleaned it twice or 3 times with a vacuum cleaner. 1st time it was on max, but then i found on internet that its not very good for the system. so then ive had the vacuum only on 1/4 or power. and last time only on min. Well ive also done the fan test and fans work well, no weird sound coming out, sometimes sound come from blu-ray drive, i think only when its reading games, loading. Now the fan starts going somewhere to Level2 and stays all the time on level 2. When i play cod waw it sounds abit louder than when i play killzone 2 or uncharted. but still its loud. ill add a video aswell. for now ive found this video on youtube to show whats the loudness of the fans are.
the vid is here:

Is the PS3 in a place where it can ventilate properly?
-
Yes, its in an open area. in front of the tv sitting on the box that it came with, horizontal position
-
Well...
Are you absolutely extremely sure it never made that much sound? Mostly when you don't even pay attention to the sound you don't hear it at all. My guess is that after you cleaned it out and also the wrong way you started pay more attention to the sound....
But if your really sure it happened of cleaning it out then... I have no idea what you did o.o Might be the PS3 itself..
My only guess is to use google to search people with similar problems with the loud noise

A vacuum cleaner is not the best tool to clean.
Use a soft brush and something that blows air instead of sucking ( they sell cans of spray air).
Check carefully for all ventilation openings if they are not blocked and look like black plastic.
Use the vacuum cleaner only to clear the dust that fell from the brush.
Do not forget to clean the power supply.
Never clean when the power is plugged in.
Good luck.

what GB is that and how long have you had it? i own 2 ps3's
and i read on alot of forums having it standing up makes it harder to ventilate
-
On my PS3 manual it said that you must keep the PS3 at least 10cm away from a wall to help it ventilate properly, I kept it bit more further away just in-case and I placed it flat.

Vacuum cleaner is definitly not a good choise, my modem got crazy after I tried to clean it with a vacuum cleaner... Had to buy a new one.
My PS3 barely makes any sound, I have it a long distance away from the wall and I clean it up once/twice a week.

I try cleaning my PS3 every 2-3 days, thats when a little bit of dust starts building up.
-
Well maybe its the attention. anyway i cleaned it maybe 3 times my fan goes on level 2 while playing games like cod.
i made a vid aswell. my ps is 80 gb.

ive also heard tha 80s are louder. i dont know, my friend has 20 and says he never hears it. Oh and when its running a game and i come very close to it and listen i can hear the fan and some strange clicking noise, i dont know how to describe but for users of old pcs it sound like when its loading, installing something. Or maybe a small vibration. Its just fucking weird, i swear i leave my stuff around unguarded and my brothers start doing fucking stuff with it, i was on holiday in egypt and i came back, my ps3 was moved i swear they must have done something with it or ima chop my ballz off. Anyway thank to all ya ppl out there for helping me do you think that im gonna get the fan fixed? Because i didnt order it off sony, i bought it at a local electronics store together with the camera im recording it with. thx
