Title: Incorrect Free Memory
Post by: Daxx on September 29, 2009, 04:13:15 pm: After updating my Vista Home Premium to SP2, my computer tells me I have 192gb free space left and that is incorrect. I really have around 250gb of free space.
How do I fix this? :(

Have a look at the Disk Management console in Computer Management (Start > Run type compmgmt.msc, click OK).

How does the drive show up there? Any "unallocated" space on the drive?

I didn't find anything there :S

It seems that the free memory space is going DOWN even I am not doing ANYTHING... What the heck :conf:
Right now it shows 175gb, even few hours ago it was still at 192gb. I have not done anything during that time.

Recycle Bin, hiberfil.sys (if hibernation is enabled), and pagefile.sys (virtual memory) can all take up space. There could still also be a hidden HP recovery partition taking up 2 GB or so.

Defragment and maybe clear out System Restore points.
