The latest update follows the Indonesian Health Ministry's prediction that thousands of people were likely killed in the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia's Sumatra last night.

A second earthquake was recorded shortly before noon (AEST) today - it had a magnitude of 7.0 and struck 150km south of the epicenter of last night's quake.

Five hundred buildings in Padang, located on the western coast of Sumatra, collapsed or were badly damaged, Disaster Management Agency spokesman Priyadi Kardono said.

"200 bodies have been pulled from the rubble. The extent of damage in surrounding areas is still unclear due to poor communications," he said.

One of the reason I could not reply earlier here is that the lights to my house were shut down due to one of the electric power plants exploded so I had to travel to a internet cafe to post this message.

I know a lot of you don't, but I still want to offer a prayer for everybody and those who are affected by this tragedy. May the Lord bless you, may the Lord keep you. Maybe we could (sadly) expect another tomorrow....
