you dont install games on PS3 you just put a disk in and play.

You only install the System Data on PS3.
Seskom, I heard that GTA IV won't work below the standard resolution of SDTV's, I recently brought my PS3 to my room with my SDTV from my HDTV, the resolution is I think 560i.
I also have 80GB PS3, but I have no problems running the game.

GTA IV definitally does work with SDTV's, whenever you do, just just flicker filter off, thats only an option on SDTV's. Theres a few options you may want to alterate
I think its the RGB Full Range

Seskom, GTA IV will not work with your TV. You need a slightly modern TV to play such games.
-
I have a modern LCD tv and I also tested it on another TV still didint work...
-
Ah yes, does your your TV have an Component output? you know Red blue green?
If yes, you should buy those cables, about 20 bucks. It will work

It does have but I use Red Yellow and White cable atm

Buy a HDV cable. It should then be able to support the graphic preferences.

I see you've made 2 topics, I'll post here too, so you notice it
hmm how can I find out if its PAL or NTSC?
Check the backside of the case. Where there are those "1 Player" and "SIXAXIS Sensitive" tags, there should be "HD 720p - 1080i - 1080p - PAL(or NTSC)"
Here's a quote from a site I found:
it will work no matter what type you have. The PAL and NTSC are only a problem if you have an SDTV because in a PAL region the SD resolution is 576i. The SD resolution for an NTSC region is 480i. The HD resolutions are the same around the world.
Btw, you won't be able to watch movies on your PS3 if they're PAL.
