Title: Radar
Post by: Stanley_Taylor on November 15, 2009, 06:26:52 pm
I'd like to start a discussion on the radar. Do you think it's good the way it is now?

I have no idea how can you "abuse" the radar. If you want to deal drugs, do it in a remote location, or in an aircraft.

The radar is good. Though it looks a little bit cluttered, but I don't mind that.

I don't think it should be removed.. IF you want to play those 'STRICT ROLEPLAY SERVERS' You can just set your radar off.. Argonath is not a Strict Roleplay server

We alredy had a idea to remove the blips frome the radar, but most of people and admins said it was a bad idea like ''How would new players know where to find somebody?'' and stuff like that.

But i still think that it would be needet that Suspects don't see Cop blips, and Cops don't see suspect blips.

I think there are more cops out there without a radar then you ever could imagine. Otherwise you can see it as GPS tracking device or so..  ;)

+1.

Cops aren't the only one who will be at a disadvantage when the radar is removed though. Criminals waiting for the cops to send them to kingdom come at their last stand won't be able to see incoming threats as well, and the radar brings a lot of fun in certain situations as well.

Can't handle the radar? Welcome to Argonath.

Only interior blips should be removed, rest is cool.

Interior blinds should be removed more RP in House and when a cop comes into the house of the Criminal inside. The Criminal can't just do /exit thats not RP not near any door just /exit thats abuse i think.

I think, the blips shall keep, but only to a special distance you have to the suspect ( e.g. If you are more than 250 m away from the suspect, the blinks appear, if not, they dissapear. )

One question I have the original San Andreas radar in my SA:MP but in some screenshots I see San Andreas's HD map..

I thought it was because my SA:MP version is outdated or something, but it seems I have the alpha version just like evreyone else... :trust:

That's what I think is best. Or just the city you're in. Not the whole map.

HD Map is a mod installed by some players, changing radar to HD. I prefer the simple radar though.

There is also something else; Player's nick is with a different font, not like mine.

Possible answer to the pictures above.

If you change your screen resolution to a lower resolution, you may get the thinner text. Atleast thats how i got it once.

If you do not like the radar, turn it off. Nobody forces you to use it.

Argonath is not a strict roleplay server, same thing as we dont got a OOC local chat.

Basically the end of discussion on whether we should add an option to disable it or not. :)

True... so I don't get why people keep suggesting Strict RP-Server things to Argonath for the reason of "making it more RP"... if you are expecting to play RLRPG Style on Argonath, I'm afraid you're on the wrong Server.
