I'm about to mod some police vehicles with IMG Tool.. This is kind of the first time i ever use it.. Can anyone post a good tutorial? I've searched all over Google and YouTube.. Noany results..
Oh and btw, i am installing the SACS mods.

1.) Open up IMG Tool.
2.) Find the car or object you are going to replace. For example, the Banshee. So, you find the banshee.txd amd banshee.dff files. Just press 'Edit' and press 'find'. Then, type in something like 'Banshee' to find the files.
3.) Ok, once you've found the files, select them both and extract them, you can do this by clicking the right mouse button. The option should then appear (I'd suggest at this point creating an IMG Tool backup folder, for all backups). So, extract them to that folder.
4.) Next, on both files, the txd. and dff., hit 'Commands', and then 'Replace'. Replace each files with the respective ones that came with the mod.
5.) 'Commands' > 'Rebuild Archive'.
That should do it! Go and test them. If it did not work, or you still have concerns or queries, don't hesitate to ask me via MSN or PM.
If you still don't feel really confident, you can always use SAMI. Really simple and easy to use.

So I can use SAMI to install these mods? Great, thanks for the tutorial!

Not all mods can be installed using SAMI, some mods you download, you just get the raw file to trade, and attempting to use sami automatic installation will obviously fail...
I don't know about the SACS mods, maybe you can install them using SAMI.

I'm getting popular as the troller of other's topics for support.. but quick question. :P How would you go about putting a backup gta3.img into use? For example I don't like the mod I have that I installed using IMG Tool. I have a backup, do I just delete the old one and rename the new one gta3.img? Should I rebuild the archive or..?

You could just replace the .dff and .txd files with the originals, seeing as you should have backed them up before you tried to mod them, though if you rather replace the entire gta3.img file, then yes, you delete the modded one and rename the backup to gta3.img. However, you don't need to rebuild anything, since you don't even need to touch IMG Tool to delete and rename files.

Thanks Ghost, you're the best. :D LOBE

Like Razor said most of downloaded mods come with raw extensions .dff and .txd but most of uploaders include SAMI file which is a lot of easier to mod then...Don't ever mod with an original gta3.img,I have forgot a few times and messed up my game

For CAR and WEAPON mods you can also use Gta Garage Mod Manager ...
All you have to do is locate the .dff and .txd and write in the lines ...

You can also see how the mod will look like ingame ... :)

Also, backup is just a CLICK away ...
