Argonath Developers

1.   Currently now there are 6 Argonath RPG developers… 4 main developers of all portal, including scripting and software, ownership and creators
Sauron
Gandalf
Aragorn
Legolas
And two developers, who are currently working with the community stuff, betatest and take part in the developing of the new scripts version

[R*]Sharphis

2.   Can a player join the developers’ team?

Yes, sure. Right now we have vacancies and want to make a developers team at least to the 10 people. So you can count – there are 4 vacancies.

3.   How can I join a developer’s team? Must I be an admin of server?
No, you do not need to be an admin of server. The priority is given to the scripters (pawno, mIRC, C++, PhP, HTML, CSS) and designers…
Also there can be extra positions in a developer’s team that is responding for some parts of the Argonath RPG whole system.
In general, players, who can replace in the main positions the developers’ work – can be invited into the developers’ team.

4.   Will Argonath RPG develop the portal in future? Will Argonath add some other multiplayer games, like Counter Strike?

Sure… We shall not stop on the current positions that we have now…
But about other multiplayer games – Argonath RPG has not answer yet…
Probably we shall support only multiplayer, based only on Rockstar Games…

Argonath Administration

1.   Who are the heads of Argonath admins?

The head admins of all Argonath administration are Aragorn and Legolas
The head admin of Vice City server is [R*]Jubin.
Argonath SA server has no yet the special head admin for it as it must be a person who can really lead all administration, solve problems of players and moderators, train the new team and watch who can be taken for the test period… So he must be active, communicative, honest and polite…

2.   How to join admins team?

The one way – Application…
You make only one application and just edit it if you have changed nick or any other parameters… The applications are always checked by head admins and main admins and players, who applied, are under watch… However it does not mean that administration will not try some players without applications… As logs are periodically checked by the developers and can be a situation, when developers liked someone’s actions in a difficult situation and decided to try this guys as moderators…

3.   Server has 100 players and only 2 admins. We need more admins!

We know it… But there is also a system of administration… When we’ll see the current team is trained more better, we shall try other applications… And remember, by coloring the situation in a black color you will not make developers pick you up as admins… We are looking for those who solves problems, not for those who makes it…

4.   How much vacancies on SA:MP administration?

About 20 people we plan… Maybe less…

Yes, there will be...
Right now finished the admins system script, that includes filtering of players accounts...
It means will be a possibility to trace multiple accounts for every admin, and all information about every player...
We have more ways of finding out cheats usage, that will make admins work more easier...

We shall tell more when scripts are going to betatest...

The admins list does not mean all admins are sitting on server 24/7...
So, yes, the situation can be like this - 100 players and only 2 admins on line...

The chance can have those players that are very good in training, can work with details, not lazy, very communicative with players, smart in learning, spending for server a lot time (not just today I am free, but tomorrow I am busy)...

The priorities go to the scripters - yes, but besides scripters there are tons of work, like setting the cars positions, working on skins, working out a script idea (scenario), working with objects and database of animations...

Soon will appear Legolas, he will help a lot with the site stuff...

When testers will say "ok it can go out", there will be some bugs that can find out only active players...
So the first update will be as public beta... If we'll manage in scripting team for Argonath RPG, updates can become regular with the additions...

Some of animation is screwed or not useful from our point of view...
Will be used those animations that can be perfectly fitted in the RPG idea...

The car system will be very interesting and easy to use... No comments more... That will be our surprise for players...

Question: To help test the script for bugs do you need to be one of the developers of the script? (Know how to do coding, and scripting)

To be a tester you do not need to be a programmer, of cos... What are the parameters of the creating the testers team?
1. You must have a very detailed view...
2. You must have a lot of time for testing...
3. You must have an improvisation to think over the incorrect usage of script commands...
4. You must be very communicative and easy to be connected, when developers need you...

When aproximately the 0.2 new script will be 'realeased'?

The date is not know... Right now developers are running two projects at once... Developing the SA:MP scripts 0.2 is one of them... As the developers team has no enough qualified members - it is a little bit slow... Also, some scripts cannot be built due to the design work... As soon as designs will be finished - scripts will be continued...

Will bought houses be kept after script update?

No... There will be different properties system, so all houses will be reseted...

Question: will having a license and passport have any different advantages or perks in the 0.2 script than in the 0.1 script. If so what are they?

If the developers cannot contact a tester - then what is the use of him being a tester?
Also tester should have a lot free time to waste on testing, as the main way to find out bugs - active playing and testing all possibilities of game...

Sauron is a system admin... So it is not a multiplay gamer... Thou he is an old MTA gamer...

How about on forums, i'v never seen a "Sauron" guy write anything... or does he use another nick here too?

Suggest you to check forums first before putting questions...

Yes there will be jobs for trains and trams. And driver job will change a little bit frum current.

We will bring out a command and feature list. when we have the commands completed.

Personal Opinion: I think this will add more RP, but i also think its a good idea they ant be bought. I dont wanna ask for certain things like for example if a person who is not in the gang gets in the car it will say 'you do not have the authority to use faction car' because it might be too complicated although i know it can be done.

Oh my God, I love this idea.

Question: Are unrealistic vehicles (such as the NRG) going to be taken out? More real RP vehicles would be a nicer touch to replace them (civillian cars such as emperor, fortune, bobcat, etc)

If your nick is already in use, you must agree with person who used it forst on the server.
About LOTR nicks: Even if you have used these for a long time on the itnernet, you can be asked to change it here.
LOTR nicks identify the main admins, and we can ask people not to use them to avoid confusion.

As our vehicle system is shaping, let me reveal a bit.
We will not make gang houses, houses are personal. However if you want to run your gang as a 'business' you can buy a business property that looks like a house. Guess nobody thought of that  ;)
There will be several vehice options, and it will be possible for a vehicle owner to spawn it in a different location.

No. Our opinion is that all players should be able to play the role they want. But there will be difference in skins between ARPD and non-ARPD.

Chat will be 'citywide', and local. For public chat there will be a command.
Clan system is currently on hold, but it will protect the registered clans.
Gangwars will still not be allowed in the way that one gang kills the other unlimited.

Sauron is not family of Ron and Ronnel. But he is a very close friend.
Sauron does not play in game, he has played MTA in the beginning. If you see a player as Sauron in game, 99,5% chance this is an imposter.
I am going to play MTA and SA:MP again soon, once I get the scripts done. Right now I am playing usually alone.  ;)

If this is the case, will the /exit teleports work for multiples of the same interior? (No more spawning across map)

Can you hint us of which of these needs will be satisfied next or if any will be satisfied at all?
-Server is mostly being Cops and Robbers server with SOME Citizens who are getting bored to hell cuz only thing they can do is cruising around for no reason at all and the small amount of citizens doesn't make them feel like wanting to imagine their jobs/everyday duties.
-The currently no need of overly hard to get Passports(needing to know names of heads of PD and other admins??? @_@)  because of little to no cars/property to buy with them
-This makes another issue. No buyable cars and not enough cars at all (if server is around 50-60 ppl chance is you are looking around for a car/taxi for minutes)BUT if you increase the number of cars then Taxi/Bus/Limo jobs (only lowly jobs currently for citizens) will kinda get eliminated by those who dont feel the RPG of the game and never call for taxi.
-Being citizen=Boooring. We need jobs like trucking,Traindriving,Airplane Piloting(By the way WE NEED DODOS to have air taxi)HeliTaxi,and you know I could continue on and on.......
-Having AT LEAST 4 trains around SA. (PS somehow eliminate the Locking of trains!I found just one train the other is being used and the only one I found was locked @_@)
-Automated passport giveaway: like we have to go to City hall and type /applyforpass or something and then automatically questions appear on chat and you have to answer them.If you fail you need to wait 1 week for next apply.This would eliminate the unusefull contact admin when he is on server procedure which even more downgrades the need of Passport.
So Will there be updating on any of this Soon? I really think that if at least half of these issues will be eliminated that would rocket the server even more up for sure.  Good Luck all!!

It will be under circumstances. At parties and clubs weapons wil not be allowed. But we could make it allowed if SWAT has to invade a building.

The essence of RP is that is can be done without scripts. But we will try to make it more venly matched in earnings.

To get a passport we expect you to have read the website. The number of properties and cars to be baought is going to increase.

There are never going to be enough cars.

What is stopping you from inventing a job ? A script is not needed to make something.

The lock is going to work completely different, bout to drive a train you will need to be train driver. And 3 trains is enough, as trains passing each other hurt the passengers.

Did it ever occur to you that giving out passports is a great RP ? There is a line of people waiting to ask question, people are sent to an office, examined, there a re guards at a door, secretaries bringing coffe......  ;)

When we betatest we will need a group of people to check out all functions and commands. Then we work on bugfixes, then ask again a group of people. Ususaly we try different people as we have the experience that not all betatesters test the same functions, or test if they can break functions for being 'idiot proof'.
This is why we will also hold an open beta, as we found that 'normal' players find more bugs as testers.  :conf:

The prices are not set yet... But probably it will be between 20.000-50.000Ar$

License and passport will stay... Ownership of properties/cars and money will be resetted... If anyone will use money hack - he will be banned immediately... And we no longer will car about unban requests of money hackers...

Can you open VCMP Server Back up? i wanna play & the other RPG server is just a DM, i promise not to break anything or atleast Give the password to admins, like specific passwords???

Password will be only for betatesters...
As soon as VCMP developers will finish their work server will be opened for public test...

Well, i got the part that ammunations are taken as businesses, but can there be a part when you go on streets
"/gunad Selling minigun 40 10000",
then a message come to the main chat -
"Andre9977 is selling a minigun with 40 bullets for 10000 Argonath Dollars"
When you got a deal, you meet up with buyer, you do "/givegun id minigun 40" and the player is now going to pay you (Paying not scripted) 10k.

First they should check out what we need... Second - they should contact me...

Strange question... Games are for sale - buy it yourselves... Argonath will not buy you game codes, keys, CDs, etc... Cannot afford - that is not a problem of Argonath RPG...

MMO will not be a random Argonath server... It will be developed as any other official games from game firms...
So the alfa and beta testers will be the group of people with the standard official work/salary...
The public test can include Argonath players...

A serious Question...

I've heard the reason for slow development is because the scripting team is only made of 2 members, Gandalf and Sauron. Well Guys.. You have people wan ting to script for you, (Me as an example).

Scripts are not written in C++... So please keep to the topic... I could understand if you know PAWNO and we do not give you a test on scripts to see how good you are, but you do NOT know PAWNO, and scripts are written on this language...

Everyone can go to the SA-MP forums and take the guides on PAWNO there. And everyone who has ever started scripts started there without personal training.
We need people who can do the job, not people that we must train to see if they might be able to do it.

We have given the same task to everyone who wants to help in scripting. Results:
2 stopped telling it was too complicated.
2 send scripts that are on SA-MP forums ready for everyone. One of them took out the name of the guy who wrote it.
1 keeps begging to hold his hand as he can not learn it without training.

If there is a guy out there who knows what to do, he is welcome.

As I told you if you can not do the job now, you will have to wait until I can spend the time on it.
Right now I am finishing missions, debugging the errors that the betatesters found, helping out Sauron with the servers and oh... I have a daytime job and family, almost forgot about them.

I learned mIRC With minamal help.. BEFORE SAMP 0.2 Started... :) but... Of cos there are alot of scripts on SAMP Forums.. Read them :P

It will depend on the public testing. While you know that the server comes back directly after crashing, and it will not lose the players money any more, we think that a crash every 30 minutes is no  fun. If we can get it like the 0.2.1 which crashes 1 or 2 times a day we will use 0.2.2.
the SA:MP team has told what causes the crashes, and we are adapting the scripts in a way to fit this.

I didn't want to get into this but OK . why don't you read the tutorials sickness ? and ask the questions on the SAMP forums , there are more than enough experienced people there who have time to help you , post there . Don't you think its odd that if someone needs help because he has little time , you say sure ill help , but help me first?

My question : If there is another Delay with the scripts is it then perhaps possible to put a minor upgrade into the current ? Like the sitting animation ; perhaps some cars

oh and a second question (more of a request): will there be more cars in the countryside towns , around red county there is a "black spot" if you lose your car there you can walk 3 to 4 km to the nearest car , so stunting there is almost out of the question , which is a shame because there are some nice places for it there .

Well, i am NOT a developer, but this has been said before...
Current car limit is about 300(I think) and the new one is about 800(I heard), So there will be more :)

Maybe because it's possible to get 50k in 10 minutes, which blocks every other way of making money. Even though I play at casinos, I think the slot machines are very unrealistic..

1. Not yet checked. Right now card mods will not be saved, this is on hold for the future.

1. Gang wars are not included. We have not yet decided on a system that can not abused for DM. There is some idea, but it has not yet translated in to scripts.

2. Everyone is allowed to be a cop, as we have always defended that point. There is a difference in uniform between ARPD and other cops. I expect our chief to give those who are in ARPD now rights to the uniform.

Don't use difficult words simple developers need to look them up  :lol:

Main chat will be 'city-wide'. This so that new players willl not think nobody is talking, while keeping down the spam.
For public chat that is for all to see there will be the /p command.
For local chat the /l will work (with animation of talking).
Also there is the /w for whispering, /s for shouting.
There will be a 'radio channel' only for cops.
And there is going to be the phone.

For our 'banana lovers' the script has been improved. In the 1.2 version some talk was possible when under banana rule. The new version allows almost nothing.

Oh so it is possible without lag to add slots ? Because I heard that lots of people doing anim commands at the same time can lag the server , but that all depends on how powerfull the server is (well it will be tested at the  open beta as all players will try all at once ..)

Oh and I asume the logins / passwords will be updated on the test server ? I am asking this Because I changed name and when logging onto the 0.2.2 server with my new name It wasnt registered , so I registered the new name too , later i found out that my old nic was still registered there .

It is all how the suspect reacts on it. If you have a great role playing situation then I deeply think that suspect won't mind it, if you shoot at him. Other thing is with new players.

Actually I asked admins to test out the scripts before opening, so I have no idea, why such questions are asking admins...
The skins you can save at the hotels... Anyway you will need a hotel for future playing... You can save 6 skins and use it as much as you want...
There is none who controls petrol in SA... Shops are 24/7 shops...
Yes there is a Bank in LV - near the Courtshouse, behind LVPD - the square with the "Cops art"...

The car system is like this : when you log of so does your car thats how they got around the problem , so you can own 3 cars but lend it and log off and the guy you lend it to loses it and there are never to much cars since there is a max players.

the car spawns on the angle you are standing, just try to make room in front if ur parking at a house :)

as i said before the cars disappear once u have left the server... they are already set car spawns that wont change as people cant own those cars so what ever cars u see in the server now wont change their spwans

but then if a cop is near it people can run in lol do the thing you did in my compound in your server warren, give the PD cops a password to open the gate, or just even just a word that only cops can open.

EDIT: i just thought of another idea, what if devs set a system that if a civilian went inside the compound hes get telported automatically outside(or is that too non-rp?)

I would actually prefer a system where upon reading the proximity area of a Cop, it simply allows them to use the /opengate and /closegate commands. Automatic opening could be awkward if another Cop opens it when you have a criminal nearby, and I have a personal preference to command based interfaces anyway  ;).

But really, I just want to stand there opening and closing it for people :redface:

Do not tell me about your lag... I did ban you when saw myself how you pausing... And I have a lot of experience to see lagger and pauser... I can be mistaken with lagger and hp-hacker, but for that I check ping And put all as it should be... But i can not make a mistake with the pauser... Especially when this pauser lost a lot of hp and was gonna die, but got on bike and started pausing...

Actualy, some people do have and deal drug. We know it. We see it. But this isn't a good evidence enough. So, if there was the dealing anim + a /frisk command, we could be able to bring solid evidence that an individual is dealing drug.

So yeah I wondered if the developpers are thinking about something like this to make cop job a bit more ... ''realistic'' and less touchy... Because the actual problem is that you can't see if the person do have drug, and even with drug bust, sometimes, so people just lie and act, and so they can get cops in trouble. And sometimes, you see it on a street corner, but you didn't had time to take the screenshot ... So you have no solid evidence... So ? ... So I can't arrest a suspect if there's no direct threat or no evidence ...

So will the developpers develop the drug aspect even more ?

And let me explain you the necessity of this :
Actualy, some people do have and deal drug. We know it. We see it. But this isn't a good evidence enough. So, if there was the dealing anim + a /frisk command, we could be able to bring solid evidence that an individual is dealing drug.

So yeah I wondered if the developpers are thinking about something like this to make cop job a bit more ... ''realistic'' and less touchy... Because the actual problem is that you can't see if the person do have drug, and even with drug bust, sometimes, so people just lie and act, and so they can get cops in trouble. And sometimes, you see it on a street corner, but you didn't had time to take the screenshot ... So you have no solid evidence... So ? ... So I can't arrest a suspect if there's no direct threat or no evidence ...

So will the developpers develop the drug aspect even more ?

Could we also get a /d or /r command for taxi drivers so they can communicate with eachother?
Just like the police can do...
Cause now we have to spam the main chat with Hyper says: (radio) blablabla....
Its very annoying... And this command must also be there for Medics :|

btw Mumin, I dont think its good to freeze ppl... then they wont use /taxi anymore, or they should be able to unfreeze themselves or just freeze them for a limited time.

no but its really annoying when they order taxi. U informed that u will come, u drive all over SA then when u get there they said oh, my friend picked me up or i found a car.

I new i forgot something about the taxi thing ;) the /R and /d. At this moment we write in Mainchat /p (radio): Car 44 is on its way to pick up client 12, Over. and that takes long time and its visual for everyone on argonath -.-

I was thinking - all taxi drivers could write a PM in game that they are coming also to let the taxi caller know where are you atm and this way a taxi callers would be sure that the taxi driver is coming and he doesn't have to wait all the time being in game..

1 - Why does this server not support the SP entering of buildings. I have seen servers who require you to just walk into the door of major buildings to enter or when your near a door you press F and thus letting you enter. Pressing /enter and /exit is ok with me im used to it now and in no way i wish to flame or bother anyone but why cant we just upgrade it to being able to walk trough a door or just press F.

2 - Is it possible to leak any info on the major addons of our welcomed 2.5 script? what big changes shall we see.

Also almost every anim the peds can use in SP are now scriptable (100s of them) will you atleast ad a few like wall leaning maybe somemof the bar annimations (drinking cheering)??If you check them you see there are some verry nice RP ones in there (ofc stabillity is the most important )

In terms of scripting... the yellow markers are standard in there... but they would use the sp interiors onless you used TONs of pickups.... which would be unnessisary complicated for any server.  What the scripters have put on now is by far the most efficent method.... key presses to enter could be done... but it would be pointless...

Not a dev... but meh I know how this works...

There were more animations... Like if you buy vodka at the bar there was drinking animation as well... There was an animation of talking (on foot) and talking (in a car)...
But as soon as we uploaded the script to 0.2.2 server we started getting huge amounts of crashes...
So we had to disable one by one features we used to decrease the crashes... Animations were one of this features we disabled...
So yeah, if this will be fixed we will bring back animations as well...

yes I know what you mean when we had the argo awards all the animations made a lot of crashes ...

Cars desync is big atm (0.2.2), with this if server will use constant and big amount of streaming cars it will lead to players crashes. Original Car system was disabled... If all goes good in 0.2.5 cars system will be back with its small features (paintcar, delivercar, named cars)...

I never had problems with Delivercar or paintcar ..My car spawns where i set it and stays the colour i decided (white) I shall test the /setplate cammand today to see if am am also lucky with that (only thing is cars spawn in a 90 t0 45 degree angle of where you are looking but thats no big problem)

When the old carsystem is back, will the cars remain as they do now when you are offline, or will they respawn when you log in?

If it is the latter, then anyone crashing will lose their car, or whoever is driving their car will crash, which is a little stupid.

I agree I am more for a system where the player can choose to do the commands him(or her)self like /relax is now. for drinking its not that bad but things like talking and smoking anim are better when you choose to do then not all the time when you do a certain command

There was a Big Desync in cars when we Had that version.... Cos of the Nature of 0.2.2

There was only one problem - desync and crashes... With it 100% no any player even managed to see all features of this system...

The car system was quite good, however if you crashed whilst driving your car it respawned.
If it is made that it does not respawn (and despawn on logout) and remains for good, then I bet it will be awesome.  :D

Why dont you look from position "if it will not crash players"...
The option of spawning only when owner on line has advantages, that give the possibilities for other features... And the one problem it had - constant crashes...

I hope some of u guys remember the 0.2.1 scripts, the modified Pen1 script. Is there any chance, u guys can realise it considering it might never be used again?

It was imo the best script ever made, It didnt have the payday like in the original Pen1 which encouraged people to rp for money instead of dming,

So the question is: Are u guys going to ever release it? Or let it never be used ever again?

i know but when will some main admin read my unban reguest? FFS im waiting 2 days and i think thats enough long ban for some stupid /q abuse

Well you are not the only one who whait for unban. Check Unban section for correct server, and check yourself. If you didnt create unban request i sugest you do it in unban section. At the end please be patient.

i did it and im not patient now cuz i created it 2 days ago and no main admin posted nothing there

0.2.2 is Deserty yucky and not user friendly

I dont know bout alot of people but... Games..... Are playful... Why make a SERIOUS Server...

I liked multiple colours..

Maybe The 0.2.5 Make as u can buy ur own colour?

In 0.2.1 people had balls. If you killed them they respawned back in the old skin spawn place and went "Ouch."
It maybe cost them a few thousand in guns, so what.. they have hundreds of thousands of $.

Now, they spawn somewhere with no guns and they can't find a car.. and they get annoyed.. and they are sad that they spent 50% of their money on guns, and omgwtfbbq suddenly you were Deathmatched, rather than killed in Roleplay.

Money is very hard to make in the new scripts, and when a new player asks me I give them something about the taxi jobs or whatever.. because I personally have no idea how anybody is supposed to start out with almost no money. People who were there for the first paydays on the first day had something to start with, businesses to buy, and money to make. I myself have no concept of how anybody else got rich. I know people did, but I personally don't get how. "You need money to make money" is a very prudent description of the current Argonathian economy (as far as I can see it).

People are much poorer, and cry "DM, DM!" a lot more in the new scripts, that is the difference.
Give people money, they won't be so goddamn mad when they get owned, and hopefully people will be happier.  ;)

Yea...sad but true...

I was always thinkin of this way: admins use lots of services and doesnt do many thingz themselves like lookin for burrito or whatever. Also they can make /ads like "Im hungry. Is there any fresh cookies deliverman?" or sth like that. They should get some money everyday to give it to players for their work. Or maybe a script which lets them pay smn 0-500$ from virtual server money (not from their accounts). If new players cannot get money from lvl6 admins because...there is almost none or they are busy, there is no paydays, the only way is that someone should give this money.

If there is no money in player's/admins pockets, how can it be in new players pockets?
You must give out some money to let it rollin' from one to another pocket.
