Title: Mike Johnson's SA:MP Tutorial.
Post by: JayCalian on January 19, 2010, 06:04:06 pm
Hello dear players! I decided to share some useful ways to increase the gameplay of SA:MP.

Mostly , I found them out by myself. Some from videos and so.

1. Running SA:MP on laptop? Having a low FPS? Like 10-20? I've found a solution for this. Plug in your charger. Look down on the icon bar. Taskbar. There you see some icons like MSN , maybe xfire , time , connection , sound and Battery.

You must click once on the battery. Left click. There you see some options. Like HP Recommended (Same as Balanced) , Power Saver and High Performance. I don't recommended High Performance. Your CPU will overheat cause the fan will overwork. I recommended to use HP Recommended or Balanced. They're same. With HP Recommended or Balanced , your CPU won't overheat for long time. You can play like 1 hour safely and your Laptop isn't still warm. Well.. It can be a warm a littlebit. But just click on the HP Recommended or Balanced and go to SA:MP.

2. Don't want to use the HP Recommended / Balanced power setting? But want better FPS?

Okay. Go to settings / options in SA:MP. If you have a FPS lag , it means you're running the game on better performance than your computer can handle. (FPS = Frames Per Second). First , make sure your Anti Aliasing is turned off. Anti Aliasing doesen't change anything , what you can really see with your eye. It just causes the lag(My optinion). Then , look at your resolution. Smart will be , if you turn your resolution on 1024x 840. Or something like that. Not on 1242xsomething. Draw Distance. Draw Distance should be on 30-50%. If you have a really good computer , you can use Draw Distance on max. But I recommended 30-50%. It will add some FPS. Now , the visual FX quality. Be sure you turn it on Medium or High. It also increases some FPS. And I use the widescreen option. I like the shapes of the Widescreen more.

3. Many people are moaning about the HP bug or they shoot at running person and the person isn't losing help. It's a sync error. If you're using a M4 or Mp5 or something and you try to shoot a running suspect or person , shoot like a meter infront of him. If you shoot in the location , where he's running than he won't lose any health. Because on his screen , he's not at that place. But on your screen , you see him a bit back than he really is. That's why you must shoot 1 meter infront of him. Then you will shoot exactly in the same place as he sees on his screen.

4. Clicking on SA:MP but nothing happens? Really annoyng! But I found a solution for this!
I'm sure that you have gta_set.set file in somewhere in GTA folders. Also , if you don't find it , search it by search program in your computer. If you found it , move that program to recycle bin or desktop or anywhere. But most important that you get this file away from GTA SA folder. Now , try running SA:MP Again after you used this tutorial.

I hope my tutorial is really helping you people. I wish you good luck . Play with Higher FPS now .

I would like to also to share my experience:
1. Never played SAMP in laptop. Except when I had to play in my brother's laptop cuz my PC was just sooooooooooo weak... draw distance also coulnd't be very good.
2. FPS Lag > Turn off frame limiter. If that doesn't help, do what he said.
3. I was also thinking about that one day. Thanks for reminding of it
4. -nothing to tell-

Anyways very nice tutorial, should... no... it WILL help many newbies and/or regulars out there :)
