Obviously, as many know, my ultimate career choice is being a Peace Officer with either a medium sized local agency, or the California Highway Patrol. Here is my situation..
Currently, I am a Police Explorer of 3 years. I have had 2 regular jobs, that did not last longer than 4 months, and my last one being me quitting the job because I had to pay more attention to school. This summer I switched Police Department's in order to go to a bigger city with more opportunities and things to learn, as well as a much more large aspect of ride along events with Officers.
I'm nearing my last semester of my Associate's Degree, and now I find myself in this bit of a problem, that I want your guys' advice for...
Option A:
Police Academy Class 126, July 5th-December 10th
Finish the last 4 college classes (if they even have room) in Spring 2011, as well as apply for California Highway Patrol.
Achieve Associate's Degree in the Summer of 2011.
Turn 21 in August, and apply for local agencies as well (since I have had the academy experience).
Wait to hear back from someone.
Option B:
Apply for California Highway Patrol in September, 2010 (earliest age = 20), and finish my last semester which would be 4 classes, that same semester (September-December).
Attend Police Academy Class 127 in Spring 2011, while waiting to hear back from California Highway Patrol
Graduate academy in June, turn 21 in August, and apply for local agencies while waiting on CHP.
Option C:
Apply for CHP in September, 2010, and finish my last semester, which would be 4 classes that same semester (Sept-Dec).
Forget police academy, and start my 4 year degree while I wait to hear back from California Highway Patrol.

I'd suggest to pick an option where you can still make a 2nd one after.

I can always take regular police academy any time, granted that I pass the tests.

Which one do you feel like you'd enjoy the most and be good at, I kinda know hoe you feel about this, I gotta choose a college course soon, Im stuck between Media Studies, Music Tech, and some others.
To be honest I'd go for Option A

well I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is CHP as of August 2009, and he said the best route in his opinion would be to finish the assosicates degree this Fall, and at the SAME TIME, apply for CHP.
So it looks like what i'm going to do is apply for CHP in September 2010, finish my AS at the same time, and start some university classes in the mean time.

Not sure what to say, but I understand your dilemma man. I'm split between the closed academy of Sac Sheriff and the open one of CHP, as you already know lol. All I can say is that I hope things work out great for the both of us, and I can't wait to see us both on the road, whether that be on the same patrol, or separate ones. ;)

Your way of writing shows you want Option B the most ;)
It may not be the smartest but it will be the one you want to have the most...?
