Fallout New Vegas Official Teaser Trailer [HD] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7xME0aFbC4#ws)

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic, retro-futurist  Las Vegas following the Great War between the US, China and other countries, a conventional and nuclear war that occurred on October 23, 2077 and lasted less than two hours despite causing immense damage and destruction. Before the Great War were the Resource Wars, during which the United Nations disbanded, a plague rendered the United States paranoid, and Canada was annexed. The city of New Vegas itself didn't get hit as much as other districts, and most buildings were left intact. Hoover Dam supplies all the free electricity and water to those who control it.

The story will continue some parts of the Fallout  and Fallout 2 stories, but will not be related in any way to the one in Fallout 3.

Fallout: New Vegas will take place in 2280, 3 years after the events of Fallout 3 and 40 years after Fallout 2, making this installment set the farthest in the series. The New California Republic will play a major part in the story, in a three way struggle between the NCR, the Caesar's Legion slavers, and the local New Vegas populace.

The player will play as a courier, who was left to die in a shallow grave (Possibly from the trailer), rescued by a robot named Victor, and patched up by a Doctor Mitchell.

Features:
    *  The gameplay system will be similar to the Fallout 3 gameplay, although some changes are likely to be made (e.g. Damage Threshold might make a return).

    * VATS will return, with melee weapons having special moves, such as "Fore!" for golf clubs.

    * The SPECIAL system will return, but now it directly influences speech options and quests.

    * Karma is back, but now incorporated alongside a reputation system, similar to Fallout 2.

What do you guys think?

well they did say it will run fallout 3 engine, just another char and setting, so im expecting it to be something like a "total conversion mod"
Title: Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Post by: EliteTerm on February 08, 2010, 12:08:10 pm
Well, basically Fallout 2 and Tactics are based on Fallout 1 Engine, but one new feature for New Vegas is that the map area is larger than the Capital Wasteland, large enough to incorporate driveable vehicles.

Btw, projected release date: Fall 2010

I heard 3 rumors. They are:
1. You actually drive cars in New Vegas. (WOOT!!!!! Just like in Fallout 1!)
2. Fallout 2's talking Deathclaw, Goris, is operating a city bus line in New Vegas. (imagine getting on a bus full of them   just take the spot closest to the door )
3. It's gonna have multiplayer
If either or all are correct, this is what I think what the potental car list:

Raiders ---> Dune buggies
Traders ---> semi-trucks with trailers
Goris and/or other intelligent deathclaw ---> buses
Enclave/Brotherhood of Steel ---> Military
Doctors ---> Ambulances
Think of any other good connections.

They better put the Ford Falcon or the Mack R-series truck in the game. Don't matter if they are just 30-40 years old. They are going to be in the game or else imma be pissed for real

They better not forget the lost door with "EARTH" written on the side

Which in turn is a RESPAWN of the Oblivion engine (Good ol' 'Blivion). Hopefully Bethesda and Obsidian put some work into it to make it look...different, but I highly doubt that, since This game was announced shortly after Fallout 3, meaning they spent...1-2 years on it at least. But taking into consideration the timespan from now until it's release, then they would possibly be working on it for aslong as Fallout 3.

Looks amazing. Upgradable cars... just amazing. Seriously, I'm hoping this turns out to be as good as it looks.

I wonder how much it'll cost do download on XBL. Most likely not the typical 800 MS. :/

I think the aliens would have some roles in this, due to the top-secret Area 51 in Nevada. Or probably bombed out by the Chinese, and turned into a radioactive crater..?

Would Fallout: New Vegas reveal more vaults? I noticed in one of the pictures, the player was wearing a Vault jumpsuit.

I hope Bethesda won't f**k the canon up even more with this adaptation with feral ghouls and power armors that take agility away and people that take 3 clips to kill and perfectly useless S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and the Enclave on the east coast and more feral ghouls and a world full of things that want to kill you and only you and more things that want to kill you and subhuman raiders that have no fear and guys who want to stab you even thought you're wearing power armor.

I bet the Enclave will be in Vegas, even though they got wiped out in 2242 by the Chosen One.

Again: WHY THE FUCK DID BETHESDA PUT FERAL GHOULS IN FALLOUT 3? THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE CANON. THERE WERE GHOUL CRAZIES THAT LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE NORMAL GHOULS AND COULD SPEAK ENGLISH BUT WANTED TO MUG SMOOTHSKIN WASTERS.

WHY FERAL GHOULS? GG BETHESDA GG, WAY TO MAKE THE FALLOUT SERIES THE ELDER SCROLLS SERIES GG

Well, not all of them were easy to kill. Of course just normal ghouls were easy as hell to kill - one shot in the had, and usually, bam! However, if you played on a harder difficulty like me, the Glowing Ones and Feral Reavers (can't remember their exact name) were pains in the ass.

It's not about being hard to kill, it made the ghouls look like mindless zombies and they've never existed in fallout 1 and 2

The vaults, I heard that Vault 68 and 69 are gonna be included.

Vault 68: 1000 men, 1 woman

Vault 69: 1 man, 1000 women
*lucky guy

As you can see, Bethesda did implant the funny "69" jokes from Rockstar.

And area 51....This is what it might look like in a cutaway view

Please note. This came from a downloadable building for the game: Simcity 4 Rush Hour. I did not create the building.

But as you can see, this is what I think would be the best description of area 51 in Fallout: New Vegas

Hardcore mode

Hardcore mode will be an optional setting added to Fallout: New Vegas. It will make the game more realistic with things such as dehydration and healing over time.

Normal Gameplay
   Stimpaks work instantly.
   Ammo is weightless.
   No dehydration.

Hardcore Mode
        Stimpaks take time to work.
        Ammo has weight.
The player has a dehydration meter which depletes over time, and must be replenished by drinking water.

This is gonna be interesting..

3 words : Lots of potencial

Quote from: Fallout Wikia
Information from a 10-page Fallout: New Vegas preview in the German PC Games magazine, courtesy of Rootmars:
Opening sequence: Courier is executed with a headshot. No ambush.
Character look creation: Mitchell holds a mirror in front of your face "I hope I put you back together properly so you recognize yourself."
Character creation: G.O.A.T. is replaced with a psychoanalysis test.
Weapons: picture of a hunting rifle included. Available modifications are scope, larger magazine and a 3rd one for faster load between shots.
Weapons: picture of a normal and a unique 9mm Pistol. Shown mods: scope and magazine enlargement. One gun shown with both scope and enlarged magazine.
Weapons: The unique pistol has a unique skin, engravings and a picture of Virgin Mary on the grip. This could mean that every unique weapon has its own skin. "These rare guns not only look unique, but have unique properties."
Weapons: Concept art of a guy in the trenchoat from the teaser wielding a Fallout 3-style minigun (It's a little bit smaller though)
Goodsprings: When you leave the Powder Ganger Quest unsolved, you'll encounter them later when they are more powerful.
Goodsprings: You can convince Mayor Trudi to ambush the Powder Gangers with a sufficient sneak skill.
Some choices you make during the game reveal their consequences far later.
Some NPC companions will have their own quests too, not only Raul.
Radar: A new yellow bar for companions is added by Obsidian.
"Caps" are mentioned as currency, not poker chips or dollars.
Hint that weapon modifications can be found in the wastes. (May be speculation)
Some statements hint that the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel somehow work together - you easily gain access to Helios 1 by having a good reputation with NCR and BOS
Dialogue with Fantastic in Helios 1 can be influenced with a high barter skill.
Game world will be as big as the one from Fallout 3.
Chris Avellone on game development: "We are currently working on the dialogues and places. The rest looks pretty good for now."

Thoughts anyone?

My thoughts :

You are killed and a doctor patchs you up to life: Cool
No G.O.A.T : Well it's OK with me, since we are no longer Vault fancy good shoes
Modifications to weapons: Needed feature
Choices and consequences : Good it's going to be there as always
NCR + BOS working together: Holy Alliance! Nice.. i bet later they will break apart and start a war > : D
Gaining rep with BOS and NCR: Earn up ranks in the BoS / NCR ???!!! or perhaps just quests
World bigger than Fallout 3 : More time playing the game, more exciting places to find

Goodsprings is the town where you start your journey across the Post-Apocalyptic Nevada landscape. Goodsprings is actually a real town in Nevada, about 150 miles from Las Vegas.

Vault 21 will be featured in New Vegas, and is rumored that Doctor Mitchell came from the vault and gives you his old Vault 21 jumpsuit along with a pipboy 3000 in the start of the game.

Hmm, they said that Fallout: New Vegas for PC will require Steamworks to activate. Does this mean no Games For Windows?

Quote
Crafting will also play a role in weaponry, with the player being able to craft ammunition, such as hand-loaded rounds. In addition, a plant-harvesting system similar to The Elder Scrolls series will be in place for the player to use such plants in bullets, chems, and for other handy uses.

This will be interesting... the ammunition crafting in The Pitt sucked for Fallout 3

Who wants to hear a story of frustration?

I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and it arrived a day before the release date! Fantastic, so I put the game into my laptop, fired it up and guess what? Steam has a message saying "you can't install the game as it hasn't been released yet" :(

So what did I do? I sat tight and read the hardback book that came with the game, which was awesome. I also watched the entire "Making of Fallout: New Vegas" DVD.

So now I'm sitting up at 2AM (UK) pretty much ready to play it :)

For those of you laughing at the bugs, I have the PC version which has already been patched! If you're on a console, the patch is coming soon, don't worry!

Terrific game, just like Fallout 3. Just finished the main story. The only minus is that you can't "continue" after finishing the main quest, and have to wait for (as Mike said) a Broken Steel-like DLC.

The radio was sub-par to Fallout 3's. Gotta love Three Dog.

Main story line was a bit short **SPOILERZ BELOW**

I honestly thought I'd be able to wipe out and kick Caeser's ass but could only settle for the creep with the mask.

The beginning of the story-line was worse than FO3's in my opinion, the whole growing up in a vault is a tad bit more realistic and more sensible than surviving a shot in the head and thrown out, not bad though.

Hate the fact that if you wear different factional armour then your reputation level with that SAME group changes. For example I was wearing no faction armour and had an Accepted rep with the NCR, changed to NCR CLOTHING and went down in reputation...x_x.

Encountered one noticeable bug, Boone's Hunting Rifle seemed to have disappeared after shooting up some Powder Gangers and replaced it with 4 Dynamite which ran out in about 2 seconds. Had to replace it with my own Sniper Rifle and .308, which was fine but annoying since it was due to a bug.

I can almost guarantee that someone will be making a mod to bring Galaxy News Radio to New Vegas and play songs that was found in Fallout 3 :P

Never played the Fallout series so I bet it all was abit.. The beginning wasn't understandable.

Don't want to get in fight? Use disguise.. But don't go to guards and dogs because they can identify you and attack..
Don't touch deathclaws( monsters(looks like a mix of dino, cow and dog) with claws, grey ) and scorpions ( especially the big ones, pain in the ass ). Dunno anything more, get companions too if you want, they are helpful( at least in FO3 + essential ). I am at the same point as you, in Primm, but more to the south, along the road. I don't have companions so I don't really know what new stuff they can do.

Attempt to avoid enemies as much as possible (The game does not bring out harder enemies such as Deathclaws when you are a lower level)

In the early stages always search everywhere for supplies.  Especially medical (stimpaks) and guns.  ALWAYS take ammo no matter what because it has no weight (unless you are playing on hardcore mode).  Since it has no weight, i see no reason why not to take it as you never know when you'll come across a gun that could take an ammo type you don't have.

If you find something confusing you can look it up on the fallout wiki (trust me, i can spend hours on that place looking at the vast amount of information heh)

I always have the Fallout Wiki open in the background. Now and again I just go and research some stuff that I've found in the game. Especially useful since I never played Fallout 1 or 2, and New Vegas has a lot of references or otherwise content that you would need to have played through those games to understand fully.
