Title: Computer Freezing
Post by: marka2049 on February 21, 2010, 04:10:37 pm
Ok so, This problem has started a couple months ago. The problem is that my computer just 100% completely randomly freezes, my mouse won't even move. So then I have to restart by pressing the button on my tower, as most freezes. Then when my computer starts back up I always check the logs, and the one I always see whenever it freezes is this:

"The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer STEPHEN-PC that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{4FB2DB90-7958-432C-A84E-D63D40D45DB1}. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced."

STEPHEN-PC is another PC on my home network. I've already tried googling this error and ect. and have come up with nothing. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

It does it at random times, even when idle and when I have one program open which is an alarm. It's really starting to bug me... because I rely on that program to wake me up in the morning as a normal alarm clock won't because it's not loud enough, but when it freezes in the middle of the night... the alarm won't go off. So I want this fixed ASAP!

Hmm...
STEPHEN PC is trying to do something to your computer on your network. This has happened to me, my neighbor was trying to get onto my network without permission and he was successful, I had to reboot my network because there were trojan's being sent from him computer due to him downloading shitload's of virus filled porn.

When it say's election is being forced, it mean's the computer is choosing it's next decision, so that is what might be causing the problem.

But you do have wireless network in your router... Shut it down if you don't need it. (Don't know how? Use instructions manual)
