Title: Call of Duty 4 problem with MP
Post by: Juraj_horvath on February 23, 2010, 09:04:17 pm
Hello all.
One day i got tired of MW2, since i was playing it for so long and stuff so i turned off my PS3 and went to my pc. I sucessfully downloaded the game and i installed just as it was supposed to be. Right after that i tried the singleplayer which was working good. i turned down bit of detail here and there and turned up the resolution to balance the framerate a get a decent picture quality. Then i was very happy that the game worked because all of these online portals, im not gonna talk about them but lets say that you can get certain things for free by using a certain program or your explorer. Im sure that all of you know what i mean. So after that i downloaded the patches all the way to 1.7 i updated punkbuster, copied ip of the server and went online. When playing online i found out that i had something like small twitches in the game. It wasnt lagging but it was like for example going smooth and then picture stops moving and then it comes back on and via using /cg_drawfps command to see fps in the game i noticed a heavy FPS drop. I just want to ask you guys if this is caused by hardware or software. Cuz there can be for example firewall blocking something or i dont know. The game i running around 50-80 fps, indoors like houses i get 150. I think that these framerates are pretty decent but i cant get in my head why is the game having these odd twitches. Its like the guy from south park, Tweek, when he was like screaming and then he was all normal. Im sure you know what i mean. Something like that happens to my game but its much shorter and anoying.

oh and my pcs specs:
Yea im playing on a Laptop
8600mgt 512 GDDR2 mem-GPU
Intel C2D 2.0 GHz (there is a turbo function letting the cpu run in 2.4 Ghz mode)-cpu
2Gb DDR2-Ram
250GB-HDD
15,4 inch display

It does fine since i play console games mostly but i didnt want to pay 50 euro in the shop for it or 20 on amazon.
Well i hope youll find something that helps me with the problem!
Thx alot bye :)

Try google "yitch3.cfg". Makes your FPS balanced AND raises it..
Also, playing cod4 with laptop, that may be the problem too..
Also check "/cg_drawlagometer 1" and see which of the lines gives that FPS drop.

The file made my fps drop even more to 20-40 and lagometer shows a red line on the green field

There are no better FPS tweaks than that is...
Try these commands in console:

r_fog 0
r_normal 0
r_rendererpreference 0
r_picmip 1
r_picmip_bump 1
r_picmip_spec 1
r_picmip_manual 1
com_maxfps 125
r_mode 800x600
cl_maxpackets 63
cl_packetdup 1 or 2 (look for ping which is better)
r_drawdecals 0
snaps 30
r_aasamples 1
r_anisotropy 1
r_aaalpha 0

THAT should already help.. And for the lagometer.. It's your internet connection. BLue line shows if your FPS drops, green is for your PC - server connection.
