Hi, I held a RP Auction today to get rid of all the weapons I had stored in my house. I didn't intend for any profit, but here are the prices I sold the weapons for. At peak, there were about 10 people at the auction.
8300 Desert eagle, $25,200
970 SMG, $22,000
2200 M4, $10,200
95 Sniper, $10,500
1400 Ak47, $8100
So I really didn't care what I got for them. The auction was most fun I've had selling anything, and weapons had been stored for a very very long time. So what you think, make more profit? Was definitely more fun.

When you called me for help, yea it's indeed more fun having the people around you bidding on your items :)

Great idea JCS
Defo would be a lot more fun but the thing is if for example I was selling robois food mart the " richer or richest " people of argonath might not be online meaning that you do not get the full potential
but I reckon if you give it enough publicity before hand a if people cannot be in game you take a highest bid from them that could work
good luck

looks fun, I will absolutely use the idea for my self :)

It is, indeed, a good idea, jcstodds. The thing is: in a auction/sale on the forum you have the possibility to have more than those 10 members visiting your topic, while in a RP'ed auction/sale you'll only get those 10.
If your looking to give away weapons/a house/a car and you do not care about the money, then, this kind of initiatives, are more than welcome.
Fortunately it was the case, but I don't think there will be much more. ;)

Bear in mind this auction was done in the desert east of Fort Carson. No where near any populated regions. Auctions may be done for Cars, houses, guns. Cops may even forgive the blatant illegal gun selling if you do an RP auction.
On forums, if you sell weapons, you may be investigated by FBI etc...
Ingame auctions are for fun and quick sales . As you can see from results, its' not only if you care about money, but buyers will spend large amounts just for the RP (and to show off). So this can work both ways.
This topic was created just to give you guys some ideas, I'm sure you will have fun :P

+1 for this one.
In-game auctions are a great experience for roleplay, I've took part and organised a few in the past, and it is the most fun thing to organise in an auction instead of an forum-auction which takes away the realism aswell.
I think auctions should all be hosted in-game just like the court-house once, when it was active, had in-game court cases
