Title: Which computer should I buy? (Part two)
Post by: Hidduh on March 06, 2010, 05:30:51 pm
Okay. I found one but since I don't know anything about computers i'll need your help..
Already contacted the customer support but they are lying as #$%! to me, as usual.

It's introduced in Nov. 2009, so it has a good graphics card (Not sure)

Base processor

Core 2 Quad Q8300 (Y) 2.5 GHz (95W)
1333 MHz front side bus
Socket 775

Chipset
Intel G41 Express

Motherboard

Motherboard Name: H-IG41-uATX
HP/Compaq motherboard name: Eton-GL6

Power supply
300W

Memory

Maximum allowed   4 GB* (2 x 2 GB)

*Actual available memory may be less
Speed supported   PC3-10600 MB/sec (message as PC3-8500)
Type   240 pin, DDR3 SDRAM

Hard drive
1 TB SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
5400 rpm

SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology drive

    * Interface: SATA
    * Data buffer memory: 2 MB minimum
    * LightScribe: yes
    * Disc diameter: 120 mm

Video Graphics
GeForce G210

    * 512 MB memory
    * I/O Ports: single-link DVI, HDMI and VGA

Sound/Audio

6-channel high-definition audio

    * ALC 662 chipset

Network (LAN)

Integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface

Memory card reader

    * Supports the following cards:
          o Secure Digital (SD)
          o MultiMediaCard (MMC)
          o Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC)
          o MultiMediaCard Plus (MMC Plus)
          o xD media (xD)
          o Memory Stick (MS) and Memory Stick Pro (MS-Pro)

So my question is, is it good or is it a piece of junk. And if it's a good system, what kind of games will I be able to play with this card/system/moreinfohere/etc..

Graphic cards are always update-able

updating your proccesor will be harder because your motherboard needs to be in the ability of using it, my motherboard can only have 5 different processors but luckily i got a good one.

Q9400 is atleast 50/100 bucks more...

Just had a quick look at those specs they would be just about good enough for my needs.

What are you planning on using the computer for mainly ?

Oh that 300w power supply is kinda weak too

I don't know much about computers either but I'm sure you'd want to aim for a 1gb memory in the video card

Add 50W for the result and you'll be fine with PSU like it.

Okay I know it sucks, but if I purchase this system, will I be able to replace the current graphics card with a heavier one? If yes, what's the limit?

As said before: Get a better Grafic card...

What is the price? Because thats important too... if this is realy cheap, I suggest to buy it and 'tune' it with own style  ;)

I will, but I need to know if the other hardware in that PC can handle a graphics card upgrade.

Don't buy it - The PSU won't last long if you put a proper video card on it. Also if you decide to buy it you'll need to buy a new PSU, graphics card and maybe a better processor. Just build yourself a PC mate.

It will handle it but it's not worth it. The whole setup is VERY outdated as it is.

TBH most pc's are "outdated" today! if i brought a computer today next month it would be.

as i said depending on the price its reasonably good set up that should handle games fine

i think the term "very outdae" isnt really fair

That PC simply sucks. I wouldn't touch it even with a long stick..

Processor - Only part I'd MAYBE buy..
Graphics Card - Total shit, get 5750, 5770, , 5830, 5850, 5870 / GTX 470 480
RAM: Atleast 4 Gb 800 MHz (if Vista/7) 2Gb is enough with XP.
PSU: -.-' It's enough, but I guess it'll last about a year.. Corsair cx400 is good and cheap

You'll get i5 750, P55 motherboard, 2gb-4Gb DDR3, HD 5750, cx400W PSU  with ~500-600 euro.
