Title: Building trust and understanding moving forward
Post by: Gimli on March 24, 2010, 08:33:58 pm
In line with the brief uncertainty in SA:MP scripting team, we have decided to post a joint statement highlighting our support for the community. As many of you may have heard, proposed changes are coming into effect to strengthen the pillars of the SA:MP administration team and in turn the SA:MP community. They will be announced officially in due course once all procurement stages have been completed.

In challenging times, it's important we are able to support the foundations of the SA:MP community express belief in one another. CBFasi has worked strenuously alongside the SA:MP scripting team in a bid to further our community in aim of attracting, retaining and recommending the Argonath community. We understand that the recent his activity may have been of concern, however we have moved to instil positivity and will to drive forward in aspiration of living the Argonath vision.

The comments in relations to INFERNO 9 [i9], GS9 and the wider community have been retracted by CBF as a result of further evaluation. It has also been decided on CBF’s own accord that he wishes to withdraw to a certain degree until he can engage with maximum efficiency. As a result, the SA:MP leaders will be supporting this request and accommodate any further changes should they arise where appropriate.

In summary, everything will stay the same – we will work together to bring positivity, trust and collaboration. We hope you will join and support us, while we continue our aspiration of living the Argonath vision.

As many see I need to back off, with help from the SA:MP Leaders I will still work with them to bring the Argonath vision to light.  I will be putting a lot of trust in both Xcasio and Frank_Hawk to help and work with, in the bringing of this vision.  I trust them enough to say that if it was not for them I would not be back.  We aim for the best and that is what we try to deliver, in both scripts and the way we engage with others on the server.

We have worked to constructively resolve risks, issues and concerns that have been highlighted as part of a joint effort. CBF has my utmost trust as a partner in Argonath SA:MP and we will work together with a common vision. Driving forward, we now move to restore the momentum towards living the Argonath values and vision for the benefit of the extended community.

I've been away for some time, (reminds me of starting part of GTA:SA SP), what have I missed out on?!

Well said from the entire team. Moving Argonath forward is a vision that can be reached every day, but users need to understand that although it is a world of it's own, the people that make it so are doing their work for free for YOU, the users. They do it because they want to, and because they think it would be fun. They don't do it so you can moan, complain, *****, deathmatch, be greedy, or get script-dependent. The scripts were meant to EXPAND old-fashioned roleplay to ENHANCE your experience..., not for users to DEPEND on them and ONLY use them instead of actually roleplaying situations out. Something needs to change in the community, and hopefully this movement will help with that, but for now, we need to try and do what we can to solve these long-term issues.

All should understand that Argonath is not just something you waste time on. It is a community with heart and soul that will stick together.
Many times our moderators, admins, managers, leaders an developers are stressed because no matter how hard they try, there is always someone who will fight them and tell that they are doing a bad job.

What we should remember is that we are all human, with everything that is included in it. That means that we make mistakes as much as we try to avoid them. It also means that we care for something, and for most of us that something, among other, is Argonath.

Everyone in the team wishes to make Argonath a fun place to play, to keep it free from the bad habits you see getting worse in the worls every day. Perhaps we will fail, but we will try together.

What the community should understand is that the freedom they find here, they will not find in any other gaming community. In most places any criticism on the owners results in a ban for life. Any use of hacks, or abuse will result in a ban for life. Anything outside kissing ass will result in a ban for life.

We give you freedom, in playing on the server as much as on the forums. All we set are simple rules, and the request to respect them and respect all others as human beings. If you can not handle that freedom, go find yourself a prison to sit in.

Do not abuse the freedom you have to stress out the developers, the scripters, the managers, the admins and the moderators. They are not paid, and they give up a lot of valuable time for everyone to be able to play here.

What can we do when players moan about our hard-workers?
It is pretty ironic to see the hard-working helpers getting criticized by those who do not make any contributions to this community. As gandalf already mentioned above, respect each other if you want a better server to play on..

Well said. I sometimes get criticized for not spending time with some players' RP as I have to perform my administration duty to keep the server well maintained with the rest of the team. Sacrificing your RP for the administration to allow others to be protected while roleplaying is a good thing for me. As long as players are happy, I am.

Indeed, well said all. I couldn't say it better!

I believe we should respect each other. Even if you don't like the person, you can still give him respect. It is human that you may not like someone, but that doesn't mean you can put him aside without respect. The person at the other side of the screen is a human being, just like you. Give him the respect you also like to receive. Look, talk and play with everyone on the forum as well in-game with respect. Think about the fact that they are also human beings before posting your comment.

Respect everyone and follow the Argonath vision.

I would like to mention this topic. Maybe everyone can read it again, fully.

And MIB, Respect is the main key of any community. People do not respect the actually work that goes into Argonath, and Freedoms get abused.
I respect every last person who has helped Argonath, Becuase quite frankly Argonath is the best Gaming community i have seen or been a part of.

I love this community, it's like a second home for me. I have made many friends and learned many lessons here, and since I am way more mature now than when I first came here, it's like growing up in Argonath as well.

During my time in Argonath, I have acquired many values that helped me IRL (i.e: Leadership from leading the [AK] Clan, a better and fair judgment from my time as Admin, and many more).

To give back to this community, I realized that since I cannot do things such as giving hefty donations, I decided that I will continue to give my best effort as an SA:MP Moderator so I can continue to be one of those who ensure that the players will have a better Argonath SA:MP to play on.

Argonath forever!

You guys worked so hard, your presence brought a lot of changes, some great improvements, not only in the scripts but also in the community of Argonath.
You cannot give up, but you will certainly go on with your great job.

The community has always been very supportive. Our success as a community is not due to any single leader, but to the entire staff here and the members and their involvement. And i hope that will still exist. :)

I hope you're talking about the 'community board/helper' Alfred_Charles talked about before he quit, because that's exactly what Argonath needs. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Alfred introduced the idea of a 'community helping board' of sorts that would work as an intermediary between the players and developers.

I've read a lot of things just about moaners. What's been unsaid, is how some players haven't been getting the amount of attention by the development team trough answering their questions that's required. When there is much chaos and players are unclear about the development, new things will come to them as a shock, and then you'll have a lot of moaning. We need better communication. I hope the development team realizes this, and that's what Gimli is talking about. This idea of Alfred would defenitely be worth the effort for both parties.

This is a question towards the SA:MP Managers, server owners and Frank Hawk himself..

1. Is Frank Hawk a 'Under cover' administrator of any kind?
2. Frank Hawks money.. Always wondered how in god he got SO many.. - Explanation?

How do you know how much he has? - "Because someone said it" is not a good answer.

Gregersen, I do not think money is the most important keyword in here.
So I think it does not matter how he got it, the only thing what does matter in here is.

"RESPECT"

And yes, maybe it's me. But I did really enjoy the last few days on Argonath, as I think some people are going to see the picture.

That's nice to see anyways ;).
