Title: Virtual Disk?
Post by: MorlanV on March 27, 2010, 10:06:17 am
Virtual Disk

Hey, I got some games from my friend (cod4, Overlord, Fallout 3, Homeworld 1 and 2), but I can't be bothered to get DVD+R DL's, is there a way to possibly burn a Disc Image File onto some sort of virtual disk? I have a virtual disk drive for Overlord, but I can't find a way to do it again for all the other games.

Gmod 10 Problem

Mmkay, I also recieved Gmod 10 from my friend, I gave him my external hard drive so he could put all the games onto it, and Gmod(luckily) doesn't need a cd for some reason when it wasn't steam downloaded. The game is working all fine when I open it up, but it says an error in the console.

GetAllManifestFiles:  Unable to load maplist.txt

When I try to play in any server or play in singleplayer, when it finishes loading (you know, the getting resources and shit), the game crashes to the desktop. Also, when I play Halflife 2, the game recieves an error and says:

MountAppFilesystem() failed: I have no idea what game you are launching, sorry

How do I fix these? I would love to play gmod 10 with my pals.

Additional Info: I do not have Counter Shit Sir(CSS), so I think that might be the problem.

The game was taken straight from the program files, so I think that the game has extra file's needed that were left out. For example, the Steam file's might be missing from the game, and Steam doesn't think I have it installed on my computer.

Please post problems and questions regarding hardware/software in the responsive board.

Basically you need the installation file to install it.

Either buy the game or search a way to do it without...

But that's piracy and this forum isnt meant for that, sorry ;)

If you want to make image files just download Imgburn for example

http://www.imgburn.com/ (http://www.imgburn.com/)

What you need to make a .iso or any other file, is a DVD or CD. Launch imgburn and select "Create image file from disc".

If you want to do it the opposite way, select "Write image file to disc".

I am using the game for personal use, not for commercialization, and I haven't copied the cd at all, so it's not breaking copywrite law. please stick to answering my questions, not going "oh that's piracy".

The steam related stuff needs installation files, you can't just copy and paste it as far as I know without using a special program or file.

Or you could search how to do it. I do know it's possible to use steam illegally but I can't say that here of course.

You can pm me, but I will probably get banned or something because I don't know the rules of piracy and stuff in a pm :P

I am using Counter Strike 1.6 without buying it, but thats just because I got it off my school computers because everyone put it onto every single one.

From his friend, who had them on cd, and he turned them into image file's and gave them to me on the external hard drive.

What do you mean by it's only 9 dollars? What are you talking about? >_<

I ment GMod. It's cheap and much easier than trying to make files that some friend copied for you to work

Daemon tools.

Daemon Tools Light, I can't see him paying for the full version, let alone using most of the extra features :P

Due to the off topic talk about illegality and shit, I bought DVD R DL's so I can burn Fallout 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare on them. I now have 3 disks left, so I wouldn't need to get PowerIso for a while.

I got Overlord working on a virtual disk somehow, I do not know how.

I also for some reason have 8 drive's, most are virtual, but for some reason my games wont burn onto them, how do I fix that?
