Hia all..
Today I went to the store and bought an Core 2 Quad Q9400 (2,6 Ghz / 6 MB L2 Cache)...
Thing is.. Once I put it on motherboard and turn on the pc, it freezes on BIOS Screen and then switch off it self...
I've had to put back the E6400 (Core 2 Duo), so I can google and find some help.. so far I found out that Q9400 needs the latest BIOS Version.. and mine is kinda old...
If you think it's incompatible then keep in mind that this Motherboard has worked with an Q6600 before... so dunno :conf: :conf:
What I know for my bios is:
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 63-0100-009999-00101111-090707-Bearlake
BIOS Signon: G31T-M2
BIOS Date: 20070907
BIOS Vendor: American Megatrends Inc.
BIOS Version: V3.02
BIOS Size: 524288
Chipset: Intel 29C0 rev 2
OEM Sign-on: G31T-M2 V3.02 09/07/2007 for FSC
Motherboard Name: FUJITSU SIEMENS
Motherboard Model: G31T-M2
System Name: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
System Model: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
Base Manufacturer: FUJITSU SIEMENS
Base Product: G31T-M2
What I need is help to find the correct drivers for it.. so I can try flashing it.. :/
cause so far, I haven't found any correct.. but after looking on a site.. I found 2 that may fit.. not sure though.. look here:

hmmmm perhaps
http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html (http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html)
then type G31T-M2 in the empty space and see if u can get the drivers from there
It seems to be ESPRIMO P3510 the one you need

hmm thanks Alarba..
I've asked other people and even done the bios/battery reset with no success..
well if people just cant help me.. I'll go buy a new motherboard... -_-.. I've searched on the shop I bought the CPU today which is actually big and good with cheap prices.. and prices for new ones go around 40-50 euros.. ;o

Meh... I'll need to wait 1-2 days, for him to finish some jobs... (my neighbor who helped me build this pc up)
and then we'll change motherboard, he has an unused one which he doesn't need, and has almost the same things as mine, except that it can work with 45NM CPUs.. which mine can not :p mine can only work with 65NM CPUs.. so this is why that Q6600 had worked on this before :) because even that model is 65NM.. :P
Well.. I'll wait a bit, but I do not mind.. as we can solve the problem ;o

Just make sure to buy a new decent CPU, i'd recommend i5 750 for gaming

Core 2 Quad kicks Core i5 ass in gaming, so get facts straight before talking.. :)
Q9550 beats core i5 750 wit about 10-20 fps in every game, Q9400 goes even with i5 750..

Hey ya all.. Just typing this from my 4 years old computer :)
I've been given an Gigabyte: GA-EG41MF-US2H >> http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3090 (http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3090)
Thanks to my neighbor who had bought this a few months ago, but turned usefull for what he wanted, so it's not even used :)
I am currently a bit tired to do the rest... things I've done so far: Changed Motherboar, got some new cables.. installed the CPU+paste + cooler on it.. an ram... what is left now is to connect with power wires, and the small ones for the front panel.. Power Button, Reset Button, Led lights an HDD lights as well to connect the HDDs with sata cable.. etc.
Will continue tomorrow, and hopefully to be done :)
Good thing with this Motherboard is, that it saves me from buying another 2X2 GB DDR2.. since I had only 2 slots, and both were used by 2X1GB.. so I would need to get 2 new sticks of 2GB Each, to get it to 4GB.. but no more a problem :) I will go buy around 4GB when able, so will make it 6GB in total :)
hopefully to be back on track with new pc tomorrow :)

A second is not that awesome, my Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @3,16 Ghz can manage that, easily :)

Nope. You should be the one getting ur facts straight.
No one at this time would recommend a Q9550 or Q9400 for a new build. Why buy an outdated mobo with 775 socket and outdated CPU? When u got the i5 750 cheaper and with same/better performance than Q9550? With better OC ... etc... etc...
i5 750 Review (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i5,2410.html)
Another one (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-gaming,2403.html)
The result in first link : i5 750 is FTW
The result in the second link which is more gaming sided : Things are pretty much balanced! Those 10-20 FPS diff are non existing! in fact the maximum diff was ... 5 FPS favouring Q9550 . But in STALKER there's a 7 FPS diff favouring i5 750 .
Overall : i5 750 is the best price/performance and gains in all the other aspects. And it's the best option if you are in the market for new Mobo + CPU. Better than that? Core i7 but Core i7 is not meant for gaming anyways.
