Hey guys,
I'm planning to buy a 'server' which I will use to host some gameservers on like CS1.6, SA:MP, CoD, etc.
What is the best thing to buy, or should I buy some parts and put it together myself? The only real important thing to me is that it has a low energy comsumption.
Any advice?

Advice list: Use linux
Decent Server components:
Q6600
3-6gb dual channel ram ( doesn't really matter so much to size as to speed but if you're planning on running a bunch of servers opt for more )
Video card near to makes no difference.
Sound card too.

Or you could also use Intel Xeon as they are normal server processors..

3-6gb dual channel ram
U mean 3x6gb? O_O Isnt that a bit much..? Or 3 to 6gb?
And what motherboard should I buy, sound card isn't that important since it's onboard on the motherboard.

Three to six GB.

About Q6600, it won't be very energy-saving will it..?

You could get a Core i3/i5 for low energy consumption but the build itself will cost more than an older Intel one.

Also keep in mind.. for hosting multiple game servers - You'd need a very good upload speed. Especially if they are going to be popular. Also most ISPs give you dynamic IP addresses, meaning your IP will switch weekly, or whenever your modem is reset. If you plan on selling these servers, I doubt it would work out unless you have a way of acquiring multiple IP addresses to issue to the game servers.

Thanks for the info, as far as I know I have a static IP but will recheck that.
And what should my minimum up speed be if I want to host like 4 gameservers with aprox 16 players each?

Hosting a game server in cod really needs much RAM... 8 Gb of DDR3 1600 MHz @ Tri-Channel wasn't enough to run 25 players in server.. PC Started to lag because of lack in RAM..
Processor : Intel Xeon W5580 (one or two of them)
Motherboard: Asus Z8NR-D12 Intel 5500 Socket 1366 SSI EEB 3.61
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 12GB (6x2GB) (Get two of these if having two processors)
Video Card: Integrated
Hard Drive: "Normal Hard Drive" is also not good for server pc, it should be SSD..
Net speed should be somewhat 100M/100M when running a server(s)..
And yes.. Good server pc WILL cost more than 2000 euros..

jeez, that looks more like a high end gaming pc to me than a simple server lol..
Well, I'm not going to spend that amount of money on it so Ill have to figure sumthing out. I cant understand u lag bcause of 1 server, sounds kinda crazy but I'll test that.

Buy a Virtual Private Server.
Best thing to host servers on it.

Where would I buy that? Cause I only found servers that'll cost me like 80

It depends of how long you take it, and how many slots there are in o.o
I've only seen (cod servers) costing ~40euros for 6 months (12 slots, private server)
And about the lag; There's 100M/100M internet..
If I host server, I can run about 8-12 players, before my PC start to lag (RAM usage goes over 80%) (CoD2, CoD4, CoD5 server)
:ps: And I have 100M/5M internet.
