Title: SCRIPT UPDATE - massive changes to cars
Post by: David_Omid on April 17, 2010, 01:40:12 am
Hello, everyone

As a lot of you are now aware, I have been testing a lot on the main server some new features

These features, as a lot of you are already aware, are to do with vehicles

To be more precise, car modifications are now savable

As well as vehicle components being savable, paint jobs are also savable

Please read the following information very carefully on how to use the new features:

New Commands

/savecar - opens up a menu screen with a list of different features that can be saved for your vehicle. All saved features will be kept whenever the vehicle is respawned or your log out and then come back later. Please keep reading for a list of these features.

/clearcar - opens up a menu screen with a list of features that can be cleared from your vehicle. Cleared features will no longer stay on your vehicle when it is respawned or you log out and then come back later. Please keep reading for a list of these features

On using /savecar, you will find the following list of savable features:

Spawn location   $2500
Color      $500
Paint job   $2500
Modifications

The "Spawn location" option works the exact same way as /delivercar. This service still costs $2500.

The "Color" option works the exact same way as /paintcar except both colour IDs are the current colours your vehicle has. The way to use this correctly is to go to a vehicle modification garage and spray your vehicle a certain colour and then use /savecar and click on the "Color" option. This service still costs $500.

The "Paint job" option will save your vehicle's current paint job. Paint jobs are buyable at vehicle modification garages. This service costs $2500.

The "Modifications" option will open up the modification saving menu which will now be explained.

On using /clearcar, you will find the same menu except that the "Spawn location" option is gone as your vehicle's spawn location can't be reset back to a default location and also the prices won't be listed for the other features as clearing features is free of charge.

On clicking on the "Modifications" option you will be taken to the following menu:

Spoiler    $5000
Hood      $2000
Roof      $4000
Sideskirt   $5000
Lamps      $1500
Nitrous Oxide
Exhaust      $2000
Wheels      $6000
Stereo       $200
Hydraulics   $30000
Front Bumper   $8000
Rear Bumper   $8000
Right Vent   $5000
Left Vent   $5000

Every option will save the chosen modification on your vehicle if your vehicle currently has the chosen modification.

The way to use this is to go to a vehicle modification garage and buy some modifications, then use /savecar, click on the "Modifications" option and then select the modifications you wish to save.

Please note that nitrous oxide has no price listed. This is because the ability to save nitrous oxide has been disabled until I can successfully control it properly.

I can see a lot of players getting confused by all of this and making silly mistakes, so please remember the following facts about this system:

/clearcar will remove modifications, but it will NOT give you back your money

Certain modifications may appear to be over-priced. The main reason for this is that if prices are lower, a lot more people will save modifications and it will look stupid and unrealistic for everyone to have modified cars all of the time!

People may ask why hydraulics are so much more expensive than all of the other modifications. There are a few reasons for this. One reason is that it would look the most unrealistic for everyone to have. Another reason is that they may actually offer some more mobility for your vehicle which is something you should pay extra for. The biggest reason for making hydraulics expensive is that actually in large numbers, vehicles with hydraulics can actually increase the number of crashes. Do not worry though, unless a lot of people gather with their cars, like for car shows on a regular basis, this will not be a problem.

I hope everyone enjoys this rather large update. If anyone has any questions or concerns please contact me as I made the system and I can help you. Please do not contact other developers such as CBFASI and Gimli if you have problems with this system as they are not yet familiar with it.

If you have any questions which are not answered in this topic either contact me in-game when I am not too busy or contact me on MSN or by forum PM. You may even post comments on my Facebook wall!

Word of advice, I actually respond fastest to Facebook wall posts :)

As for bugs, please report all of them in the bug report section of the forums instead of telling me about them in person as I will not remember to fix them and also bug reports are a form of record of previous bugs and currently existing bugs and is actually quite helpful.

Have fun, everyone!

 :ps:

The features will be available after the next server restart

So say my I tune my Savannah, I use /savecar command.

Then, I choose from the modification tabs the mods I want it to save, then I press spawn location and it saves my car and does /delivercar?

You tune your Savannah, you use /savecar, you choose the modifications you wish to save, they save

You do not have to use the "Spawn location" button unless you want to change your vehicle's spawn location

If you use /savecar and save modifications and other features, your vehicle will respawn with them if it blows up or you log out and come back later

Just letting everyone know about a little thing that a couple of players have noticed when using /savecar.

If you use /delivercar or set your vehicle's spawn position with /savecar, your vehicle will do the usual thing where it respawns. When it does this, it will not have your saved colour, paint job or modifications.

Do not worry, all you need to do is either respawn your vehicle (blow it up) or log out and then log in again.

I will at some point edit the system so that the car doesn't do this at all when it respawns!

Post Merge: April 17, 2010, 04:05:25 am
Should now be fixed

Post Merge: April 17, 2010, 04:28:04 am
Added some nice messages for when you enter or exit a mod shop and added /savecar and /clearcar to /carhelp.

Fixed a bug related to /carpaint and /paintcar which resulted in the "Color" option in /savecar not recognising the current colour of the car after one of those commands had been used.

Also I have fixed a bug related to /paintcar which resulted in players having to log out and then log back in again for their vehicles to start spawning in the new colours. After the next server restart, hopefully there should be no more issues.

No, you do /delivercar ONCE then all the modifications saved will be at the cars spawn location.

No..

You mod the car at the mod shop.. go to a dealer, /savecar, choose 4th option and choose what you want to save (YOU PAY FOR EACH BODY PART).. then you go /delivercar it (unless you haven't done it).. car looses mod, respawn it and it will be spawned with mods.

It's only cause /delivercar does not respawn the car, but basically some-what repairs and changes color on it.. so system only works on spawn ;) which delivercar does not use.

haha that's confusing, and i know im banned but i wanna know...
if a player goes IG and sees his car is spawned at his house, because he already did /delivercar a long time ago, he decides to go pimp his car out, he goes to cardealer and /savecar and chooses what he wants to save, then he has to drive to his house and /delivercar again?
Title: Re: SCRIPT UPDATE - massive changes to cars

No need to delivercar again... car modifications are saved directly to the file.

Guys, you do NOT have to use /delivercar or save your vehicle's spawn location with /savecar after saving modifications!

The "Spawn location" option and /delivercar do what they have always done - they change the vehicle's spawn location, nothing more.

Using /delivercar will NOT save your vehicle's modifications. You MUST use /savecar, click on the "Modifications" option, click on all of the modifications you wish to save.

WARNING  - using /delivercar or saving your vehicle's spawn location with the /savecar menu will clear all unsaved modifications from your vehicle. This is why it is a very bad idea to save your vehicle's spawn location while you have unsaved modifications!

Post by: Petar on April 17, 2010, 04:29:08 pm
Why is the "Spawn location" added ? YOu can only /savecar at a dealership.. Who would want to change the car's spawn to a dealer , I lost 5k by accidentaly pressing that one :S.

There is a small bug when you FIRST save the paintjob. If you blow it up after saving it, it disappears. I fixed this with a simple relog. THe same thing happended with i9 Justin, it wasn't fixed with a relog...

I saw this 2 days ago and was amazed - But now, I am... speachless.

Also: Why is there NOS in /savecar too ? You told us that NOS cannot be saved , Why is in the list ?

Thanks :)

/savecar and /clearcar can now be used anywhere

/delivercar has been removed. Players should now use /savecar only.

Logging has been improved so from this moment onwards, bugs involving money loss can now be investigated properly

Can you use /savecar at any place, at anytime?
Because I thought you could only use it at a car dealer, which would make the deliver thing useless..

Awesome :) Anyways, I'd love if modification prices would raise even more, and delivercar price would decraise to symbolical price (100-200). Reason for such suggestion is obvious - in old vehicle script, there were limited ammount of vehicles and its classes. Now, players have more freedom in choosing their vehicle, and it looks a little bit strange, when you pay 1/3  of your vehicle price for delivering (talking about newcomers, who hardly finds 7,5k for a faggio and needs another 2,5 thousand for delivercar). Anyways,as said before - awesome.

What do you expect then? That modifying a stock car would be free? First, buy a car you know you want later modify. After that earn some more money. Everybody are moaning and moaning that they don't have enough money. Well welcome to the real life man - if you once in your life get a job, you know what is one of the first thing you start discussing in your life? "I wish my salary would be bigger. I want more money" Well get used to it.

And the weed script is fixed. Damn , what a bastard.

I want more money" Well get used to it.
yep my opinion too.

Not sure if has been reported before , but i tuned my new Remington , saved everything , did everything as i should , but each time i relog or it respawns it doesnt load all the stuff i tuned. For example sometimes it loads the side skirts + front and rear bumper , but doesnt load the misc skulls on the bumper , sometimes it doesnt load skirts , etc. I spent few more 10k's to re-tune and still having this problem .

The thing that keeps missing when i respawn is a skull lamp standing on the bumper which i buy by Misc > Chrome Something , then /savecar it by Modifications > Front Bumper. I re-tuned it for 3rd time , i hope it fixes... Spent all my cash (100k) on this

You do not have to keep saving the modifications! If they are failing to load, it doesn't mean they aren't saved, it may just mean they are having problems being loaded!

Also, post a bug report!

GoodWork, and what that admin said, sorry i forgot his name, he said that /delivercar should be 100-200 i completely agree with him. it would be better for it to be this cheaper, since saving modifications is expensive.

Could be abused, doing /delivercar when your car is rolling over in the desert so it doesn't blow up..

I think prices should be even higher, so the server won't turn in a some sort of Need For Speed. Fully tuned cars all around..

Just wait for few days and half of the tuned cars will wore off.

It's just a temporarily trend that will be distracted by other things or just repetative, like the new fire scripts, at first, entire server was dark red, now only 5 or 7% is fireman....

It won't "wear off", lol?
People aren't just gonna go "man, this awesome modded car that cost me 50k sucks, lets go drive a merit :DDDD".

I mean really.

Well, mostly the flow of ''tuners'' will wear off, meaning almost no others will join for a while, soon less people will be driving tuners..

No, the trend of driving around with tuned cars can only go up. The growth rate of course will go down. But there is little chanche that people will start  doing /clearcar.

What I predict is that people may at some point become bored of their vehicles, despite them being covered in modifications and may instead think about buying either superior vehicles in terms of handling or ones which are better for roleplay purposes.

And even then they can only modify it in small ways like change the wheels, so I don't think we'll see many modifications after a while.

No but it has always been shown on the modification menu, implying that it may one day be allowed

Notice that it has no price listed next to it. Would you really be able to save nitrous oxide for free? It's clear that it's unavailable.

If it is not clear enough, I may just place the word "Disabled" or something where the price should be.

Update

/clearcar can now give refunds

These refunds can be given for paint jobs and all modifications

The refunds are not the entire cost that the player paid in the first place, but they are still most of the cost
