Title: Idea for Vehicle Owners
Post by: Vortrex on May 02, 2010, 01:49:22 am
I know scripting for VC-MP is very limited, but I figured that this idea would be possible. Basically this is assuming a lot of members own a car and a house and such.

Here is my idea: When the user drives up to the driveway, he/she can use a command to "store" the car in the garage, even though the garage door doesnt work.
This is to make more room on the server for more vehicles. Also, when the player logs off or times out or something, the car should be stored in their "garage". Then when the car is needed back, another command is used.

For scripter(s): The car isn't actually being "stored" in the garage. It's being taken off the server and the specs of the car (color, model, etc) is saved to a file or the player's file or whatever. When the command to bring the car back is used, the specs are drawn from the file, and the car is placed near the garage door or at the player's position.

If something like this could work, this could be used for Emergency and Law Enforcement Vehicles too (like the SWAT trucks in their garage or the firetrucks).

This is not possible to script in the current version.
Vehicles can only be added or removed on server restart,
Once the server is started, the vehicles are permanent and static. There spawn locations cannot be altered.

So, removing vehicles or adding them back by a command wont be possible.

Not exactly what you are suggesting but a dynamic car system like in SAMP. You log in, your cars spawn. You log out, your cars despawn.

Another attempt to make VCMP into SAMP

If it's to make the server better, why not? Like the dynamic car system - instead of 180 cars in the server, you will have 30-50, and it would also give you the chance of owning more than one vehicle. Unfourtunately this is not possible to be scripted. Yet.

That's bad

Bad? Why? You know that the amount of cars in the server is directly involved with the performance.

Personally I hate the thing in SAMP.. if you find a car your lucky.. everything is locked.. I don't want that in VCMP

There are no free civilian cars in the city in SAMP... Not gonna happen here obviously... ''Public'' civilian cars will still be parked around the spawn areas mainly for new players.

If you can't run to the nearest spawnpoint to grab a public car, call a cab or a friend, it's called multiplayer after all.

There's nothing wrong with the performance and the more cars the better
