Title: A Lifetime of Argo
Post by: hell1989 on May 13, 2010, 05:03:00 am
Well hello my IRL name is Bryant, and I joined this community march 2007. Been banned a couple times for my uncontrollable flame insults to people over /p been admin twice, and been a active member of growing Criminal groups since then.

Well it started Feb 2007 that I found out about Argonath through MTA:VC, and I started as a cop hehe and played for a week RPing the best I could in Vice City Argo. Then I hear of SA:MP and that Argo has a beta server up and I buy San Andreas and play the 1.0 beta for 2 days b4 the offical opening that was on a Saturday if I remember.

I remember the grand opening, player limit at 50 slots and running on a very early version of SA:MP. You would see Aragorn and Gandalf everyday, players like [AV]Dave showed up and players like Kerr - who created first Mafia on Argonath. I joined when there was no ARPD and you could RP anything you wanted, so I choose Swat Commander. I remember commanding 5 new player cops with me to raid on Kerr in Idlewood :) that how good my memory is.

I became admin for a couple weeks, and saw the ARPD site b4 anyone else :) after I was finished with being a cop I joined the first good gang called [LSA] Los Santos Astecas, formed by Lloyd_Banks. It was first gang vs first mafia all the time in Los Santos and was fun, this is when gang wars rule came.

I was here when Jcstoods was new and hung with his buddies everyday, b4 they created [ALS] :) I remember when XCasio was new and was very annoying on Teamspeak LOL.

I was in [FBI] before it was offical with its current leader, chase, lite and Jaaska..[FBI]Hell :)

So I been here since day one, but what do I get? Nothing, I am not respected by the community but only from my friends, but all who see my name think I am just a plain DMer, but I will proclaim I am not, I just have fun RPing, evading the police and then shooting at cops who try to kill me while I am suspect. I have fun being a active leader of Gvardia. and we get shiit everyday from players who cant understand one thing - Respect.

This is a community made up from people all over the world, yet players here log onto SA:MP and really I think get too attached, addicted and then believe it is their 2nd life, but remember folks its only a game. Admins back in 2007 were nicer, only ban for hacks.

Now a days, you see admins banning very fast you guys got the power to think b4 u do your actions, why not just /tempban?

I created the commission back in 2008, which only old school Argo Vets would remember.

Of course I was a Corleone member lol and a Dragon Member led by Tony_Dragons who was admin.

I do my best here to be a good player, but sometimes the players here are so thickheaded and only care for themselfs it really pisses me off..

When communities are small, they hold together that special bond between everyone in the community. When a community get big, like argonath, then this bond starts to fall apart because of the constant flow of people in and out. I understand how you feel and it's great looking back at memories but we don't have a time machine and we can't just go back. So make the most of what we got now and Enjoy the Little Things ;)

If you look back here, you see that even tough some times are bad, the most of them spent here are times you'll never forget  ;)

What you forget was that back in the days when Aragorn and Gandalf were daily on server, all other admins could be nice, because they did not need to be strict.  ;)

You have always balanced between a good player and an evil flamer... which has resulted in the bans. Perhaps you should think about the reasons for it, because if you would really manage to control it would be great.

I am sure I am backed by many in saying this - bring back Aragorn and Gandalf. I know it's not you two that make all the RP happen ingame, but if we could for even a week show everyone what a sense of community is - the owners going in with the players and just having a good time - then all we can do is hope such a gesture would make a big enough change to stop all the moaning and bring back the carefree environment that Argonath used to and should display!

I'm sorry to be the one to scorn such a lovely post, but,

Have you ever thought about the fact that you being agressive in /p is the reason for your current popularity? People don't just hate people for no reason, if someone doesn't like you, it would have to mean you have done something they don't like.   When I started in Argonath, I got on with two people in a server that hundreds of people played on.   I became freindly again, then I was given admin rights on the MTA:VC server, as I was playing there to calm down from SA:MP, and I learnt a lot about myself.  Of course, after that I fell from my happy place, which everyone does once in a while, but I took it too far.  Admins at that time can confirm that.  And then I lost all my good friends again, I got banned, and left.   About 8 monthes ago, I came back, and all my oldest freinds were gone (minus =AV=Dave - who I gained a dislike for, which is no longer there) and lots of people didnt remember me, Wdoyle knew instantly when he saw me on the server, which made me smile, but a ton of people were screaming "noob" at me for simple things like lag, and it was annoying.  A couple of weeks ago, I changed, a lot, and grew more mature.  I havn't been agressive at all since then, and to be honest, I think I have gained more friends in the last two weeks than in most of my Argonath lifetime.

tl;dr version - To be respected, you must respect others.  Respect is not just given, it is earned.

He's been coming on under different names to avoid being /pm'd every three seconds with "have u looked at my mod thing yet?" "can i be admin" "make event" "make lotto" "make payday pl0x" and such, and he uses pm to speak to some members about certain things.

That's not what I'm talking about. I know he comes in on UC names, he always gets me in trouble and blows his cover
I mean, back when Aragorn, Gandalf and Legolas were all ingame at once, mucking around and bringing the community together. I used to be Aragorn's personal limo driver...I remember one time I almost drove into the crash spot at SF and I had Aragorn and Legolas screaming at me to stop before I went into it...

I hardly ever judge a person on Argonath, unless I never see them RP on Argonath and they say they're good at RPing or think they know it all. I never knew about all the groups you was in and I think that says a lot about you as a person. But I always thought you've been a good RPer, just REALLY loving getting chased by cops. On the other hand, I stand by what Gandalf said, you just have to choose your words carefully and think about what you're saying sometimes.
