Title: following a /ds
Post by: Petar on May 27, 2010, 02:28:30 pm
There was a bit confusion today about following a /ds

Following a /ds is when someone ( ex. AVDS ) does /ds and .... sfds or lsds does /ds right after it.

Some say it's allowed.
Some say that Chuck said it's not allowed..

Is it allowed ?

i don't see a problem with it you must see /ds as a /ad and sometimes the go in a row and couse now there is a AVDS a LSDS and a SFDS ofc the fight for customers :P

So i just see it as Competition and im not against it altough the spam sometimes is annoying :P

It is not allowed.

It's not meant for you to remember to do DS when someone else does.. or randomly... or /DS then say "Busy".

Intentionally spamming /ds or any other text-producing commands is considered as flooding and spamming, so they are against the rules. Otherwise it's allowed... who can blame you for spamming if you happen to remember that you're a driving teacher too and you could announce you're free when someone else announces it as well.

That's not an excuse to make up a new rule.

Flooding /gu and/or flooding /gu after another driving school on purpose --> Flooding the commands --> Script abuse --> Not allowed.

/ds is a tool used to advertise your driving school business.
Aslong as you are not intentionally spamming (with that I mean doing /ds and then not reacting on a request), it should be fine and seen a pure concurrention.

Although, there should not be a new rule made for this (as TheRock has been accused of that by Daco)
There already exist a rule for this, which is known as:
"NO SPAMMING/FLOODING"

I mean, if you do /ds just one time, you can see it the same as people using /p to talk just for 1 line.
And in my opinion, I think it should not be punishable...unless you're doing it on purpose.

Well, heres my two cents.

Each driving school has worked to get where it is, and its hardly fair for other schools to undermime eachover.  I think there needs to be a lot more respect in the server, and I would like to extend this request to LSDS, CMB and AVDS, to do the same, and remove the /ds rights of anyone caught misusing it.

/DS should be used as an advertisement, although I think the AVDS then SFDS thing is unimportant, as anyone wanting to use these schools has to register with them anyway >.<, but i think fourteen SFDS teachers using the command together is a bad thing, i think that each school should memorise the list of its members, and if one of your group uses /ds, pm them saying you are too, and they can deligate the students that approach after /DS.

Seriously, /DS'ing after a /DS (No matter what DS) is insulting. It's like stealing the players...

If you ever enter a Driving School, you must NOT be power-hungry, fame-hungry and such..Also, It is not the quantity, it is the quality...Of course it is allowed, but please RESPECT the other DS

I'd say to have only "ONE" Official Driving School with the "/DS" rights. As they have been being abused 24/7. It has also been one of the commands that started to bring hate between each Driving Schools. What I mean is, sometimes LSDS can take AVDS' job. Which most likely ruins the AVDS Reputation. Thus, I think only one official driving school should have these rights to stop abusing them. On the other hand, I know that most of you will disagree on my idea, but I'm just saying.

All i can say is that SFDS got their rights way too quickly. LSDS had to wait awhile before they could get /ds rights. There should be a set active time limit before they et sticky etc.

LSDS have always thought this is a wrong type of attitude towards other driving schools, even before LSDS got /ds rights. So if you see that one of the members from LSDS do this, you should send a screenshot to one of the Chiefs and they'll handle it. Whatever other driving schools are doing is entirely up to them. LSDS doesn't want to take the spotlight away from other driving schools because we're all in the same boat.

Is it script abuse or not? My opinion is that it is script abuse. Simply because of what TheRock said. A lot of these players who do it right after aren't even available. They're simply doing it to advertise their driving school and compete with the other driving school. Everybody who's part of a driving school knows that this is almost always the case. It's spamming/flooding and therefor script abuse.
