Title: A new board
Post by: Sarah_Morelli on June 21, 2010, 03:46:59 pm
Well I finally got the BEST idea, as I am an aspiring writer, and MANY other Argonath players have a few collections of writing themselves, why not make a Board, under the "Media Center" section, for writings.  I mean, there is the DJ section, the Video section, and Photography.  But based upon Videos, DJing, and Photo's....Literature is an account to all three of the staged sections already made.

I can monitor and handle that section...If it is made, and I would be willing to help its structure, in ANY way shape or form.  I just really really think that it could make a good impact, and help people LEARN what others think when they write, if they wish to share.

Thanks,
Sarah.

Good idea...
Only one question...
Forum is international, many players are from none-English countries... Writing on a non-native language for them is hard and will lose the main spirit of literature...

So?

Thats a good question, that I actually haven't thought about.  I guess, since there are many people that cannot speak english fully.  And nor can I speak english to the fullest, as I only live in america.  I guess, it all depends on the people, but I guess as Dave said, freedom to type their own languages, would be good.

And if anybody could translate it, to proper english as well, it would work out.  I don't know how it would work out, but I guess it would be nice to have.  Cause i know many people here who are writers and just would like to have people listen and read what they've written.

What's wrong with letting people post topics with stories in their own language? They will do so knowing fully that only people who can read that language can reply...
I'm all for this!

The thing is that we have to have at least one admin for every language to be sure, the guy does not shit others, nations, countries etc.

Good point. I guess my head is still stuck in the past where we don't have to worry about people doing that kind of stuff :(

Well, seeing this, and knowing that I know about 3 languages...I think I can wing it.  Spanish, Italian, and English I can handle.  I mean, I know there isn't many people we can trust, but there is enough to go around to actually set this up and have it work.

I suppose to add another child board called "Native language writtings" ?
The main board would contain English songs.

Many people who are polyglots should not have problems reading others literature.
I know 2 dead languages(Latin, Greek) and 3 live ones(Italian, German, English) and I write songs, so this should be excellent.

Like I said, I am not "just american" I learn english and italian both at the same time, I can not help if I mistake a few times as well.  And this is not a grammatical issue topic, this is a Literature topic for aspiring writers.

Oh you two, lighten up. Void it's not about the grammatical errors. If it were that, I should keep my mouth shut at all times. It's about the ideas of what both you were saying.

Sarah, don't get it wrong, I am all for the idea. It's good to see, that at least some people in here, likes to write. and of course you are bound to make a mistake, as so are everybody else in every language we write.

Want to know what was funny to me?

And nor can I speak english to the fullest, as I only live in america.
That sentence is as good as saying: And nor can I speak english to the fullest, as I only live in United Kingdom/Australia/Canada/ Ireland/Jamaica etc. And it made me think, that if you should grasp any language, then it would be your native one.

I know 2 dead languages(Latin, Greek)
Void, I think the population in Greece disagrees with you about Greek being a dead language, as it is Greece official language.

Does it really need to be an admin? Should be enough to set a trusted player on it to check the topics of that persons main language and report to the moderator(s) of the forum board so that moderator just can make a simple check by Google Translate and take actions against it if it's correct. There is some players in the topic that already said they could take care of their main language, i could check the swedish part, shouldn't be that hard to be honest to keep it at a good and civil manner. :)

I knew I should have put ANCIENT as preposition.

Zaila: We need a second Giac there
