Okay, Okay, let me get this straight;

Forums were, along with the server, hacked, and the and the latest data was from late June (Some says 22nd, some say 26th, etc..)
Now, I though that you'd guys actually SAVE THE GOD DAMN DATA a little more OFTEN. We are back like 35-40 days!
Jesus, is it so fuckin' hard to save the database, of both the forum and server, every 10 days or so, if not EVERY day!?
THIS is what happens when ya get lazy...

Easy, easy!

Do you think the owners wanted this to happen? No, ofcourse not! In the first place you should be happy that they got this forums back quite soon. And even updated the version and installed new mods like "member map". And besides that, making a backup of the Argonath forum database is not that easy. You are speaking of millions and millions of database rows. Making a backup of this forum is NOT click, click, click, ready..

Show some respect...

And yes.. I admit it is quite weird that they didn't made a backup after the first hack. But the owners are also humans, don't blame them. Blame the hacker.

There is a very simple explanation for the backup not being done in time.
After the first hack, we have been working to restore all servers and the website as soon as possible, while having less time as usual.
Due to this our backup software was not yet running as it should, as we were daily making some changes. The second hack set us back to the level of the first one, plus we needed to implement better security.

However instead of blaming us for not making a backup in time, how about understanding that people should keep their hands out of other peoples servers ?

Pro's tip: dont be a fucking flamer when your playing on a server with 2 men with REAL LIVES like us spend so many hours just fixing this and doing ALL of this hard work while you sit there and disregard it all, and moan about little things like topics? do you need new pants because it seems like you shit yourself from anger writing this. dont be ungrateful.

I didnt lose anything important so i dont have a reason to moan, even if i did have a reason, no need for it.

I did not lose anything, not really.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work the owners do, aswell as they have a private life.
But you'd think they would make a backup at the start of each month, at least. Of course, I guess it ain't that easy as pressing "Save", but still. Better security may be a must, but I think they should do something to that kid who keeps hacking the forums. Yes, I bet it is the same guy.

I did not mean to be that mad at the post. In fact, I wasn't really angry, I just tried to show a point.
I mean, we are in August now, and the last backups are from June 22nd. When they said the forums were hacked I though "Oh jeez, we're gonna be set back to like mid July", but being set all the way back to June was unexpected. Probably by all of us.

Thank you owners for bringing the forums back up, at last, and I hope you will remember to save the data at least once a month.

And Jamal, stop flaming me. Only because your message did not contain any offensive words, doesn't make it less hurtful and disrespectful. You saying "I lost 5 mill and I do not moan about it" was in fact indirect moaning anyway. Your message about your loss came trough to the people. Correct me if I am wrong, but I see moaners moan so that other people know that the moaners were abused/unfairly killed/unfairly punished/lost assets, etc.

people should keep their hands out of other peoples servers ?

As long as there is good communities as this one, there will always be hackers trying to wreck them. Take legal action, this is in fact Cyberterrorism.
