Title: Hmph.
Post by: Cane on August 27, 2010, 12:39:18 am
Before I begin, I would like to let everyone know that this topic is not created to 'moan' or 'complain' about my experience in the current community of Argonath RPG.

First thing's first, since when did players fail to see the difference between a question and a complaint? Earlier today, I asked a question regarding a certain situation in public chat, and instantly another player responds with "Do not moan in /p!!" and "Why are you still moaning?!?!?!". A question is a question, nothing more. Calm down.

Secondly, why do players think they have the 'power'? I understand that you don't want anyone to 'break a rule', but do you honestly have to scream out orders and demands to other players? You think that you are helping the situation, but you're really not. In fact, you are just adding fuel to the fire. Let the administration team handle the situation, and just keep your mouth shut.

The players that are doing the above are also contradicting themselves. Yes, I am calling them hypocrites. Why? Because when you tell other players to 'stop moaning', you are complaining about the fact that the other players are complaining. You say that they are "spamming and flooding up the public chat", but it is you who are committing such act by telling them to be quiet.

Again, I emphasize the fact that this topic was NOT created to moan or complain about my experience in the current community of Argonath RPG. It is created because a large amount of players are performing the acts stated above, and are progressively getting worse by the day.

OK, i will try to keep this as simple as possible, here, answering your questions in order:

1) Lack of confidence, low self esteem, feeling the loss of grip/control.
2)Power - abstract when we talk about internet. Refer to number one to know your answer.
3) Hypocritical (mini/wannabe) moderators  - there, you've answered yourself

Every now and then, if a player really moans(as that I mean using capitals and spamming report, constantly getting warned for patience) I do warn him, but its slightly getting on my nerves to get warned by other players who do the same action daily, one or more times.

Can we stop with this 'Opinion topics on respect/moan'. They are getting old fast and always result in the same thing. More moaning and fighting among each other. I understand what you are saying Cane and i respect it, but im not interested in watching people fight and pull apart when we should come together.

Here, is another example of your opinion.

The main problem in the Argonath is, that, when someone started using the term "Moaning" a year ago, some owners started to talk using the term too, and it came onto the main base of the Argonath players. Since then, everything which is a question, concerned about anything important and which needs to have a clarification, is still a moaning for others.

I think most people won't believe me or start to argue, so I'm going straightly to Wiktionary (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/moan)

to moan (third-person singular simple present moans, present participle moaning, simple past and past participle moaned)

   1. to make a moan or similar sound
   2. to complain

Asking question = / = complain
Discussion = / = complain
Argument = / = complain

I come across alot of these and when they yell at me i simply just say "OK adminstrator (name)" that makes them shut up, because i do hate it when sometimes something that i meant for local chat which is a bit of swearing comes by mistake on main chat, i have like 6 adminstrator wannabe's telling me "Kenny DO NOT FLAME..OMG HE FLAME"

What you said about moaning is true, not that only i am disapointed with players, but i ask a question some players take their time to say "OMMG HE MOANING" and if/when 3 or 4 players say this, i get a nice warning from an admin telling me not to moan.

People dont know to mind their own business, but i cant blame them when they just come in-game speciafically to sit down in a car and talk in main chat all day, throw themself into every conversation..Attention seekerz...

I agree, like everytime I am alone somewhere /gu'd and there are no cops around, I will ask in public chat if anyone will come cuff me, then I get about 20 responses that I should stop moaning.

i think its just people who get off on bossing around others (and because of self esteem issues/etc that were prev. stated). I've heard the term 'wannabe mod' before, and I think that applies to quite a few argo players.. Unless an admins steps in and says something in /p, then things resume the way they are. Nothing really can be done on it.

Give them administrator rights. Within a week, they'll go crazy of responsibility and eventually quit or suicide.
That job is for mature, responsible people, not for everyone. Many players in fact only want respect and power/wealth.
Ironically they already have respect on the server.

I hope you weren't comparing my post to 'moaning' because it was far from it. My point was i understand what he said...BUT it always leads to people siding with multiple sides and then everyone begins fighting which shouldn't occur. Instead people should work together, talk things over and work together.

And i agree with this a lot:
Give them administrator rights. Within a week, they'll go crazy of responsibility and eventually quit or suicide.

...and its extremely sad to see this. It disappoints me too see people like this.

How are you "tired" of topics like these? Who are you, a forum moderator who takes care of this section 24/7? You are a perfect example of what I've stated in the first post.

Just another locked, futile topic. Get what I mean?

It started be popular after so-called "opinions" of wanabe zomg leet roleplayers...
This is why we are locking most of their topics with scream and demands to other players...

Since then, everything which is a question, concerned about anything important and which needs to have a clarification, is still a moaning for others.

The main problem is that owners are enough experienced and grown to see where is the complain and where is the discussion, but some of players consider their moaning as discussion and with that moan more and more...

Telling "guys, lets try this idea or that idea" - is discussion
Telling "omfg Argonath is a bunch of roleplay noobs and flamers" - complain...

Difference? Discussion supposes equal (or neutral) attitude to the problem... Complain supposes one side - negative... This side actually starts first...

I will allow this topic to be opened for "discussion" (The level of it I already saw)...
And then it will be locked as others...

There is a good saying in Russia... In others eye see the wood, in own eye cannot even notice a small stick...

Besides it I would like you to notice the opinion of neutral players who started openly telling you "we are tired guys"...

Speaking of a decent suggestion, which obviously turned into a moan, what would you suggest?
The problem is, I don't mind them mini modding. The word moan is taken too easy into the vocabulary. That's what bothers me.

I just think that people should mind their own business instead of contributing in the argument. In other words, adding fuel to the fire. In my opinion, administration should begin to punish those who tell others to "stop moaning" and/or announce other unnecessary comments, especially over the main chat.

What's the point of other people adding theirselves into the conversation anyway? This is indeed an example of a wannabe-admin. It will only make it worse and you're not exactely making yourself more popular as you wanted it to be, it will only make you look worse to the rest of the community. Just be yourself, no need to attack people to whole time. Let admins handle the issue and keep yourself out of it.

I do Agree that "Moaning" is used way to Ridiculously. It gets to the point where you type "OMG" or "WTF" into /p and 32 other players all say "OMG STOP MOANING!" In my opinion a moan is something that goes on and on and on about the same negative subject.

Overused term analogy:

Never saw such thing on server and even from logs check... So what do you think: was it just moaning or fake accusations of the Argonath community?

In my opinion a moan is something that goes on and on and on about the same negative subject.

Our opinions here are matching perfectly...
Now lets just take some forum members, who people called as moaners and check their posts...
You could be excited of the time they spend on Argonath with shitting on its rules and players...

Here are examples of 2 and even 3 years of moaning...
The funniest thing - this people actually opening/active participating such topics like this..

I like also suggestion to administration to treat such topics as discussion... Of cos from the same moaners... Lemme check what is suggested here...

Oh, I see... Players were called "wanabe admins" and "asslickers"...
If I will put even more stronger opinion then just "moaners" - moaners will start moaning about "Aragorn does not want to hear us" or something like that...

I LOL-ed as well when came back from inactivity...

Moaners were crying about Aragorn the Dictator... ""Aragorn spoils Argonath!" "Argonath is cool without Aragorn!"... Cmon, asses, I was inactive for one year and what changed? I see it went even more worser... Using the kindness of Gandalf?

ONE YEAR inactivity and coming back... Result?

As there were the SAME moaners, so they STILL sit here and shitting, shitting, shitting... Players suck, admins suck, Argonath vision sucks, Argonath scripts suck, Argonath developers suck...

Cmon, just freaking f**k off... Seriously...

This was written to the moaners...

As for the topic and his owner... Well now read the posts here, especially those, who "agreed" with you, and notice please the flame and screaming from other side... Right from that side who is complaining about "wanabe admins" and "asslickers"...

If you will see something destructive from them as well - then I will consider you as an honest guy who came up with discussion for sure and not for moaning...

Point? To see if you are that good in seeing situation from different sides not only from your own: reason to treat topic as complain or suggestion for the real discussion or the normal way opinion...
