After reviewing the recent unban request, we have decided that it is time for a change.
Traditionally we have kept all things open, as to allow the players comments which saves the administrators time, and often helped banned players to understand their mistakes. However it has increasingly turned in to an area where people troll and provoke instead of helping out. This to an extent that a number of players are unwilling to post an unban request as they fear being ridiculed.
There for as from today, the only people who can post in unban requests are the people who are banned, and admins or higher. We have adjusted the board permissions, should there be any problem with them please let us know.
-
That's great.
-
So finally unban request topics will make some sense without all those *goodluck* or *stay banned* messages :hurray:
-
Damn.

Finally after I suggested it three months ago. :)

Finally after I suggested it three months ago. :)
Its an idea I had also said numerous times, and im glad to see it being improvised. ;)
-
This is a good idea instead of all the "Good luck" spam. Wich also will make the Managers+ work easier and faster
-
Great move, Ron. :)
-
Finally after I suggested it three months ago. :)
Mehehehe, I suggested it a few days ago, Aragorn said "Nice idea".. and now its here..
-
Should have been made a long time ago. but yeah, still very good to see that it finally has been made. Good job.
-
:(

Finally after I suggested it three months ago. :)
You're not the only who suggested it recently...
Anyway, nice to see this finally gets implemented. Will make everyone's life easier for sure.
-
And this is what I call an IDEA !
-
Will be interesting to see how this turns out :)
-
like this a lot but the only downside is that people who have important info about the unban request will not be able to post -
Question; Can player Personal Message to the banned player or an admin posting in the unban request IF the info they wish to share can be a factor in the unban request?
-
While I think this is good, it saddens me that people cannot keep thier mouth shut if they do not have anything important at all to add to the unban topic.

This to an extent that a number of players are unwilling to post an unban request as they fear being ridiculed.
That ticks me off seeing people who do this to people. When i was new here i used to criticize people, but when they retaliate they ended up looking as bad as i did. As i grew to love and cherish the community i realized even when someone did something wrong they had a right to have an opposition and i ended up noticing people disrespect others just because they were banned. Then to see you post this that people were afraid to post a unban because they were afraid of being trashed is saddening. Especially since we are a single community and need to try and see eye to eye even when in the wrong. This is a wonderful addition to the forums so people can be more confident while posting unban requests without the fear of being flamed or verbally attacked in general.
-
I just went to place a comment on the TS3 Unban section, And I couldn't.
Would it be possible if Moderators could comment too?
I know for a fact that Moderators can request Bans, And therefore should be able to comment.
-
Great. I can't troll.
-
Great. I can't troll.
Lol. I'm gonna miss reading your comments in most unban request topics.
By the way I have a question, how would an eye-witness respond on their unban requests?
Must they PM the Admin who banned them?
-
I think it should be changed back I mean players were able to give their views on unban requests. If you see most people trolling and shit, then just give a harsh punishment.
-
Allowing people to post will just cause provocation and moaning again, which is why it is now restricted so people which make comments like this;
Great. I can't troll.
Cant post and cause problems which are not needed in a simple unban request topic.
-
no u hate me.
-
Even last time I got banned, I feared to make a post in the Unban Requests and instead opted to email Gandalf directly with the unban request, due to flamers, moaners and haters...
I am happy this has finally been implemented, good move!

You can if you know how to behave

This also prevents post counts with the 'Goodluck' and such and bumps.
This is a good thing to do to the unban requests, to prevent flaming, arguing and the likes.

Next time - forum ban... We do not need here a useless moaning troll kid...
-
Finally less trolls in Unban Request Section :-) Now just groups to be fixed somehow and forums will be good :)

Even if a moderator requests a ban, it is the responsibility of the admin who banned to have the evidence if requested.

Damn today I almost got ban for " not shutting up" when I tried to know the reason when I was being warned/kicked by an UC admin (owner or developer I guess at least that responds to the way he acted). If you owners/developers want to create a good community, don't just have such an attitude "I can ban if I want" ( assuming the UC with rcon was a developer/owner but I can be wrong..)
-
You're not a troll.
I must agree with you there my fine Frenchman!

When you ar warned the reason is clearly stated. Even if you disagree, that does not mean you should continue to question the validity.
In your case, by misusing /ad to complain on a cop that just shot you, you caused a number of replies.
This was the reason for warning.
You were requested to drop the issue in /pm, yet refused, which was reason for kick.
Then you fursther continued even if warned again, less polite.
Reason for tempban.
If you had accepted that your action of complaining by /ad caused a warning, no problem. By believing you can validly discuss your mistake, you will collect more and more punishment.
And yes, owners can warn and ban you if we want. We create the rules, which means that you can either follow them or face punishment.
-
And yes, owners can warn and ban you if we want. We create the rules, which means that you can either follow them or face punishment.
Then I hope an rule about "NO donuts" will not be created. I mean damn I am so addicted to them.
Argonath forever. :hurray:

My /ad was intended to be a RP advertisement and to advertise a police abuse(not my fault that other 2 guys abused /ad after it)...
I was polite every single time I spoke to you, even thought I didn't feel you were polite to me.
"Owners can warn and ban you if they want" - true - But people with common sense won't ban players just because they have something against him(or any kind of thing pointing to a negative point of his(banned guy) personality).
Creating rules is one thing, applying the rules as you want or even disregard them is another :)
Kind regards,
Francis

Hmm, just wondering.
I can still post in the unban section, and so can others

See, there is the answer :-)

At least this will save the time of shifting through all the irrelevant messages, and make the Admin role a little more efficient.
-
There for as from today, the only people who can post in unban requests are the people who are banned, and admins or higher. We have adjusted the board permissions, should there be any problem with them please let us know.
Admins and higher? If I saw right, a moderator posted something in an unban request earlier today.
Could you also tell us what the purpose is for when admins are posting in the unban requests? I believe I saw an admin post something like "Good luck" in one of the SA:MP unban requests.
-
This just shows nothing but a failure on the behalf of moderators/managers of maintaining the order in any unban request.
-

They can't be everywhere all the time.
Though, they COULD add maybe one or two board moderators (without permission to move and/or lock topics) to manage reports

Probably because so we can explain in a unban request why they got banned, if the ban is requested by one of us SA:MP moderators.

So how has he been allowed to post but I can't ? that's what I don't get... :trust:
-
Must be some sort of permission issues since some non administration members have been able to post previously.

Okay thanks :)
So to verify
should I be ABLE to post?
or should i NOT be able to ?

Why is that Stunt Admins, MTA:VC Admins etc can still post in the boards which don't relate to them? They have nothing to do with the unban request procedure and just stupid and "posts-that-they-think-are-helpful-but-are-actually-bullshit" posts.

Cause they aren't selfish, and try to help people. And a bit more respect for them is appreaciated

Just a question, Does this new 'rule' affect's the Section moderators?
I mean, The one who got Moderator rights in a special board, Got permissions to post
in unban requests.
So are we allowed to post in them or?
As I see some Board Moderators and admins from other servers posts in SA:MP unban requests

This is only a 'guideline' for unban requests, this is not the section to request them though.
Post an unban request at the appropriate game section (SAMP/VCMP/MTA:SA/MTA:VC/Stunt/IVMP).

I suppose if they have some usefull information then personally i do not see a problem with this... i dont know other peoples opinions on this.
Im also under the impression board moderators only have the permissions to moderate their own given section and are unable to moderate topics etc in other sections.
-
The only people who should post in an unban request is the admin who banned the player, the player who got banned and those who deal with unban requests.
-
The part of them being afraid of being ridiculed, how is that solved?they cant reply but can see the boards so they pretty much still know whos banned and make fun of him...

Who says someone is making fun out of banned members? If they're caught doing so, They'll be suffering the consequenses too, believe me. Showing disrespect to other members is not tolerated here.
-
I still don't kno why some SAMP Stunt Manager deal with SAMP RP server unban request's ? Since they are nothing in argonath ?
or MTA Developer ?

Because some of them have administration rights on the SA:MP roleplay server aswell.

Maybe there are the same problems like MTA OR IV:MP.

What I seem to understand by Gandalf saying they are afraid of being ridiculed is when players post an unban request and others come along and make posts like " you dont deserve to be unbanned " for example, I have seen a few players ask for their unban requests to be closed due to harassment of the sort.
-

 Some unban requests are so blatantly flaming that ANY administrator would sort it out.
-
I reacted on three un-ban requests yesterday, which were posted on the SA:MP Unban appeal board.
In the given time, there were no managers online and the players every second word was "f**k you admins and die". What was I supposed to do? Leave it in tact so others can mock/laugh on the appeal? No charade shall be allowed. The requests were intolerant and distasteful.
PaulC/MrTrane are the other managers that edit and help around the forums. I appreciate their effort to clean the forum as they devote their time to do so.
If you have any complaint on my interferences, please use my PM and keep in mind that I appreciate straight-forward type of persons.

Let everyone post in the unban requests... leaving comments would always be nice to see, but if someone justs flames or something, give a harder punishment then before.

Aldo is a part of Argonath administration. As it seems, he witnessed the event, so he can post on your un-ban appeal.

Like Antonio. said, let everyone post in the unban requests because it can benefit the player who get banned. Some times, admins could ignore what the banned says because his past. If someone flam the banned, should get a punishment.
-
The reason it was changed in the first place is to prevent provoking and trolling which many players do because they seem to think its entertaining acting challenged. This way is more organised, if a player wants to say something, they can ask an admin if they may post it for them.
-
I would suggest some classification of bans. For example, if a regular breaks the rule that there is no DMing, he should be punished but for limited time. lets say 30days and he'd learn his lesson. etc. If a new player Cheats, he should be banned permanently etc. just an examples....

Shouldn't that be the other way around? Why would you tempban someone who knows better and permban someone who doesn't? That makes no sense at all.

I must say I agree with SugarD on this one.

how unban myself?
-
how unban myself?
Well, depending on the Argonath RPG server that you received the ban you can post an unban request in the relevant section of the forums.
So, for example - if it was in SA:MP that you got banned, then post here: http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?board=113.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?board=113.0)
-
Erm i think this idea isnt the right option.Look at the court they have managed to keep remaining of this overflow.
I think we should reallow all players to post but give out 7 day tempbans to players if they abuse it.
Sometimes we have useful info about the player who is otherwise unbanned like when we are the reporting player and the witness...
-
my name is vaskolaf please unban
-
What server do you play? You should make an unban request.

Legend said, not Vince.

I agree with Gandalf...because sometime..people think.."oh,well I witnessed what this guy did, so Ima post my story", then once they do that they start the problem..because now the person who is banned is going to start to defend themselves
to be right...so they can be unbanned...the decision was a great decision...I totally approve this post.
Is this Argo.'s server IP?
Everything you said made absolutely no sense at all...
-
I think we should reallow all players to post
+1

Hello
When it will be checked unban request's for SAMP ? we are waiting of days..
Requests will be looked when managers have time, nor feel that the player is ready for one more chance...
Many managers are currently on vacation so it can take while they look into it..
-
Do not like to wait for unban -- do not get banned. Rules on Argonath are simple, how hard is it to follow them?
-
Hello, Don't know from where i ll start, but here i go.
I'll start, i was going to growweed at The Farm (Flint County) and i saw i guy his Name Hugo_Ferreira and i always try to robb the weed from the others, i left the car and he started hit me and i run around and the ni saw the weed i havested that and i runned away i stoped at the the next spot of weed at Flint county waiting for a friend and then the guy i stoled his weed tryed to carkilling me but he killed my friend by carkill and i started shoot the car and u runned away, i was waiting for the weed and he apeared again, the weed growed up and i harvested that and i entered in the car, the guy left the car and stayed next to me i was inside the car and then i saw my car was going to blew up and i did /q i know its wrong, i rejoined the game and apeared him again and he did the same and i did the same /q then i was thinking and that wasn't normal and i started to report him for some cheats or something, couldn't report him because i got banned.
I know i can't do that but i thought what was he doing were cheats and i was going to report him but no time.
Please Read It carfully.
I hope i can get unbann. Thanks and Peace :P
This is not an unban topic. Please post an unban request in the correct board for the server(s) you were banned in.
