San Andreas Multiplayer, aka SA-MP, was shutdown on the 24th of July 2007.

The SA-MP development team was not interested in further developing this mod as groups of people were dedicating themselves to destroying it.

The amount of work required to keep this mod in a playable state while they try to crash servers, develop exploits without following proper disclosure guidelines, accuse the team of not doing our part (especially when most of our network security related issues stem from other 3rd party libraries) have been demotivating and unnecessary for the team to handle.

Hackers did not fear any legal action from attacking the SA-MP game servers, as we are not officially backed by the developers of the game nor do we have any financial resources to fight back legally.

We apologise to our supporters for having to take this extreme action. It was alot of fun while it lasted. Perhaps... we'll meet again in another game, another time.
Argonath RPG will not stop our SA:MP server, and continue to develop the scripts.  By adding the server to your favourites (see our server list) you will stil be able to play.

We urge everyone to write to the SA-MP team that they should not let hackers get the better of them. If needed we will support any legal actions, and we will take full legal action against any hacker who tries to attack us.
We request of all of our players to try and convince the SA:MP team to continue their work, and we offer to take it upon us to lead the project and to combine efforts of all SA:MP servers to defeat the attackers.

At the same time we will be looking out and speed up developments for new servers and projects.

Those who are with Argonath from the beginning know that we were attacked, crashed and flamed a lot and this has always lead to Argonath getting stronger and better. SA:MP might give up the fight, but Argonath will not.

Admins can take care of that i know they will, just dont quit :( its the best server i only play Argonath RPG VC and Argonath RPG 0.2 SA:MP i love your server :) and a lot others do too, or else they wouldnt be coming back. I did read this just before checking Argonath's website. This is so sick.. just sick, and nothing more. The first thing: the fucking hackers that wants to destroy what a hardworking team is doing for FREE. Destroy something that costs money instead, they can earn money at it at least. The SA:MP-team has been working to do something availabe for everyone, so it's sick that people wants to destroy it. The other thing: I don't understand why the team wants to quit, when they can do something about the hackers instead. As i said, the hackers are nothing but idiots, but the team can still do something about them. No hackers have attacked the SA:MP-servers since the beginning of 0.2 (what i know), and the SA:MP-team did something about it by releasing 0.2.1. So they have the skills and knowledge to do something about it. Why quit so suddenly?

I will write to them, but as the master server with forums, website and everything is shutdown, i don't know where to write. Please someone, give me information about that.

I think it's a shame that it's not the 1st of April today.

Argonath's popularity doesn't matter that much to me and I'm sure it doesn't matter that much to anybody else. It's about keeping this great community and I'm not going nowhere and I'm also sure that no one else will be going anywhere. ;)

I think it is a problem inside SA:MP team and not outside...
Also do not forget they are students and have no clue about internet Laws that can start work under professional hands...

Probably we'll add deathmatch server as well so people can have more possibilities with the servers that are only in favorites...

But...

We were fighting hackers one year as soon as we started... We had MUCH bigger attacks then what was this three days on SA:MP... And did we give up???

SA:MP made a mistake... As students they made a team of students and teenagers... When the more older and experienced in real life laws people could support them (for free) and help to bust hackers...

Also they have a mistaken opinion, that they have no rights on protection cos Rockstar Games is against such "mods" like MTA and SA:MP... But they did not understand why Rockstar Games did not shut them down all this time ;)...

So it is a problem of SA:MP team:
1. Fight inside team (I am sure)
2. No knowledges about internet laws...

Our enemies were united all MTA servers against us...
They were threatening us, that they are in MTA team official testers and can press on us, they were crashing server 24/7 with the same kind of bots as on SA:MP...

now i think the samp team is giving up too easily , there are many things they can do ...most hackers are stupid children who downloaded a tool.....

only the few are realy dangerous ...and there is always something we can do WE are NOT defenseless to hackers !I will email the samp team urging them to atleast pass the work on to a new team of programmers...(If you know a good one ..........)and there are legal steps possible I am sure , althoug that isnt my field of expertise

As far as I've understood from IRC, a developer (kyeman) pulled the plug without listening to the other developers opinions.. I think there's a small chance that SA-MP will reopen..

There is also another mystery, with the source code someone could make their own announce.exe and make a new master server, but the SA:MP team has decided not to release the source code. The SA:MP team claims there is R* code within the source.

This is the first time i feel angry cause of a game...i can't beleive they stopped the project cause of the hackers...they could ask server owners to give them Hackers IP Address and send them to the Police, to the FBI, to the CIA, to the UN o whatever, I - Can't - Beleive - It.

Many "legendary" servers are down, their websites do not exist anymore  :mad: **** **, ***** ,* ****** **** **** :flame: ****, *** *****!!!!!!!!!!! (CENSORED)

 :ps: I forgot: do not think im a SAMP Team fan, they released a 10% Done mod, with many bug, many chances to hack or found any glitch... their next project SHOULD be a lot better of samp, ill not stop play SAMP cause i play only on argonath, and if the server keeps up for me it's ok  ;)

The problem with the SA:MP people- They have lost all what means to be a video-gamer. They should realise without gamers there would be no need for developers, the world would be a sorry state. Without developers: gamers will be lost to wonder the streets like in America- gormless and wondering absently into streetlamps and shops etc...
  All gamers should know never to give up. Developers have lost this and need TO GET THEIR SORRY FINGERS OUT THEIR ARSES!

  TAKE a fucking lesson from the gamers manual: You see the problem, you take it by the neck and fucking strangle it until its no- more!

  I put my vote in: it is now  their turn to do what is right. They need to step back, they need to show us that they wtill have the gamer inside them. They need to show those hackers with heir fucktarded cause who they are up against, and that they have NOT won!

The samp team also states Gta 4 will have multiplayer built in...............................we all now that that probably means some dm gametypes ...(play saints row on th3 360 and you know what i mean)

I think that it is possible for RP servers to live on. How? We need to formulate a list of servers and IPs. After we do that we google bomb the shit out of it. What is a google bomb? Repeatedly clicking on something from google so it moves it to the top of the list. This will benefit everyone since now the list would be at the top of SA-MP

SA-MP is back in game, just after some hours :P

SA-MP.com is back and SA:MP servers are now available as per usual. (I getted that from gta-host.com) and i can again go on "Internet" and "Offical" server, and there it's comes servers :)

It is often not the news itself but how you bring it. An ISP or webhost will ignore requests for IP's of people as they are protecting their customers. But if you convince them they are liable they will bring down a site or connection very fast.
Instead of bothering people with asking the IP of hackers, get their IP and tell the company that owns them they are liable.

Guys, first of all, the hackers did not get hacked...
Just their site was shut down by their hoster...

And second - of cos hackers will be always - that is the sign of every popular game...
And those, who use hacks, they will be sniffing around for sure...

But the owners of hacking site and developers of crash bots now I hope will understand what exactly a shitty things they do...
When it started be clear, they cannot live without SA:MP as well...

We had a lot of crashers for this year we are on...
And never answered by hacking back, though we had support from people, who are professional hackers...
But as to players, so to all other supporters we cleared up - no any illegal actions...

Cos we'll not respect ourselves then...

About SAMP nobody knows how it will affect in future, I agree...
But now we already experienced that it can suddenly go down...

And I am afraid the next "SAMP opponent" will be stronger then hackers...

It has been confirmed even on cheaters forums that bust3d was brought down by its hoster.
As long as people cry that authorities and ISP's  are not interested and do not even try actions, nothing will happen.
One report will not interest authorities or a provider. A lot of reports will.

If a burglar steals something from your house you want to rip the guys head off. And when you go to the police, you believe they will do nothing. But every now and then the police actually catches criminals, and if they have more reports they can get a higher punishment. Just by doing your duty and take the official way, there is more chance of punishment. If you find the guy yourself and beat him you become the criminal.

Lets hope they dont pull a stunt like that ever again , after they released it sa mp was no longer just theirs it became all of ours

so shutting it down isnt longer their discision ITS ALL OF OURS (as server owners /players have put in as much work as they have )

As I said, I was only talking from experience. I'm surprised and pleased that the provider took action, and either way, bust3d is gone ;)

The internet server list has some problems.
Servers seem to dropp off the list and come back a litle later.
Perhaps they are using some anti-crasher protection that disturbs the announce function.

-The word Amen doesn't equal to christianity, it's just a word.

Also it clearly says that the word is used in Islam and Judaism
