Mmm ya.
Discuss regarding this.
Suggested key discussion resources:
Should more be done to stop people from doing this?
It causes as much spam as when /ad was $50.
Should it be considered abuse? Is it?
-
As far as I'm concerned using /p to advertise is one way to avoid paying $500 which is therefore disallowed...
But yes, when there are no admins online it causes the same spam as we used to have /ad with $50.
-
I think it should be lowered to like 100$per line or so.

There are leaders of some "Official Government" groups doing this... even :/.
Although I won't name names, they are like " Why should I?" when I say "Use /ad" in there pm.
Why should they?

I think that's the best option. Or keep it 500$ and if someone advertise in /p he get directly a kick.
I see people doing /p Train Stop Los Santos Station etc. etc. and that every minute and no one is taking action.

Because their imagination is expensive...
All creative roleplays job has been ruined by the price rising and it did not reduced the spam... It just moved it to /p.
-
You know, sometimes people are just too poor to advertise something and want to create some roleplay or possible call a 'meeting' or something... I think maybe if someone did not have enough cash, ask someone else to advertise it for them.
-
Using /p to advertise is abuse of commands it self.
Why?
There's a certain reason why /ad exists. And not randomly! It's for people to create advertisements through, and not on the /p(ublic) chat.
However, I personally believe that if the cost was decreased by 50% = /ad price to 250$, It would be much better.
-
Lower it from 1k to 50-150$ and that's it.
-
Didn't we had this discussion 3 times already?

It was answered by gandalf awile ago, read my signature beneath this :)

/ad is the least skillful, acceptable form of RP advertisement. If they cannot afford the /ad, then surely they can think of a cheaper more imaginative ways to advertise.

Advertising in /p isn't the way.
But yes, they should do ____________________ they'll have to figure it out there own way - the hard way / watch other people do it and copy from in-game.

Nah, its gonna be a lot of ads then..
-
So make it limited for each player to use /ad with a low price. Should be fair.
-
I think raising the price of /ad was actually against the 'Argonath Vision'
Just my opinion, don't beat me for it or anything

WIN.
Maybe, make people APPLY to get THEIR ad fees lowered, simply. Only requires a logcheck to see if they use /ad as its supposed to be used

This is really a mountain out of a mole hill. I see no difference from when /ad was $50 a while ago. I've said it plenty before and i'll say it again, I believe /ad should be brought back to $50.

It is my personal view that /ad be brought back to $50 but a time limit be introduced for each player. That way, it can still benefit low-income RP businesses without reversing their earnings tenfold, and spam will be avoided.

There are many RP ways to advertise. /ad is one of the more effective ways with least effort, but it costs. So if players don't want to spend money they can always do some advertising using /l /s /me

no flaming
-
I'd support the price being brought back to $50 as the increased price has had minimal effect on how much /ad is abused.
-
The advertising in public chat is a result of the increased advertisement price. In many cases, the new and/or poor people are not in the ability to cover the expenses of the advertising for their services or products, as simply offering their services and products means multiple sales in order to collect enough income to compensate for one advert (e.g. a taxi driver should drive at least 5 people without refueling and with maximum fee to collect $500 for a one-line advert). An ideal solution, as many people have pointed out, would be to return the $50 price for an advert and introduce a per-player limit, so that the price stays as it is.

Never as affective -.-
-
It should be brought back to 50$, but make the punishment more harsh than it is, in case of abuse/spam
-
Each /ad is like knife in my hearth special if people abuse it when other people need that money . It should be lower.

Some people make money for adverts :D
-
Some people dont even have 500$ to advertise..which leads to advertising in /p, but that's 75% true : P
