A couple of hours ago I was thinking for a way to display all Groups and Gangplaces, especially for the new script where its sometimes not very clear who takes what as group or gang place. While Im a bit tired now I might type awfull, so please dont comment me on that, I will make this topic as clean as my upcomming business "Automobile Service" (http://www.argonathrpg.com/forum/index.php?topic=5725.0).
But back to the topic I thought of a map where all Groups and Gangsplaces could be listed. After a bit experimenting I came up with this map.
Since its only about a 1,5 hours ago I started with it there still needs to be done alot, but before I go further I would like to here your comments if you think this might be something that can come in handy.
Everyone that wants his business to gang to be listed in the map should post an aplication here. Also I want your business or gangplace to be serious and not a "One Day Fly" Idea. But as I said, its far from finished I think, but a first impression is never wrong :)

For example I added my Business that can be found on the right side of Los Santos Airport, a simple clicking it will bring you to the Business or gang Topic. I will add more futures here later on, like a logo added to the map, etc.

EDIT Please post an banner of your Business or gangplace. (650 pixels width and 100 pixels height).
In this ad you may do whatever you want to describe your business or gang. Post this ad so I can put it on the map.
Following items need to be listed so I can put the ad in it the map. I support all common pictures file types.

Talk to RON and Gandalf about this to see if you can make this official for all groups. Good luck with this project

True, for gangs this might not be very good. As start I was not aiming on a Gang area (like a few blocks of streets or so), just a Gang house ( most gangs have a members that let other members use it as discussion place ). Like [DoA]Rix provide a Bar and a House for the gang. I didn't really meant the gang area's like whole Los Santos if this is where you where concerned about, because I totally agree that this will cause problems. As the map title noted I am especially aiming on the serious businesses. While this map doesn't guarantee you that you claimed that place, I was thinking for a way to list all businesses on 1 place. People that claim a space on the map larger than normal ( Like whole marina ) will not be placed on the map.
I wanted to do a Business only map just like the topic title says in first place, but listing owned gang houses are as far as I can see no subject to give problems. But I have made this yesterday in 1,5 hour after just as an impulse, maybe its a bad idea indeed. But since I see so maybe good responses It might be a good idea afterall ( Not mapping whole gang area's offcourse ).

I see some of us cant open the map.
This can be caused by 2 things I can imagine on the moment:
1. You have an older Flash version, the map needs Flash 8 or 9 to be watched.
2. Your internet connection is slower than others which might cause a white page, after a while (ehen the map is loaded) it should appear.

Tonight I will ad a preloader to solve problem 2.

I edit the map, no need to start over again with a new map everytime. I just ad the business to the existing map.
I am planning to make an XML feed for the map so the map reads the coordination's and the info out without the need to edit the map itself.
But on the moment I think its better to tweak this "drag", like solving the problem that some of us cant see the map.

Yes I can, I host the map for you.
Its quite strange because I usually test my stuff in the most common browsers, and on my PC all browsers seem to have no problem in loading the flash AP. I tested it on Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera.
I would like to know what you see. Like whether you cant reach the server at all or you just see a white page.
If you see a white page, try to give it some time to load, this might be the problem.
I'm adding a preloader now.

I think that would ne fine, cant imagine someone doesnt want to be listed as a Business.

@Tice, this is possible but as some also noted it might cause conflicts. Also, When assigning whole area's it might become a mess instead of a clean block structure like it is now. But a gangplace is no problem, but I will and have to select the "perm" gang from the "on day fly" clans.
Clans like Corleone and [R*] ( and of course other gangs that are highly active on Argonath ) that pass.
But for now I would like to stick to business and gangplaces only, because actually most gangs roam around whole San Andreas instead of being in a gang area only.
As I'm writing this reply I was thinking of a sign on the map where the spawn points are places. maybe one of the Heads of Argonath is able to send me the spawn coordination of players and cars (Offcourse I wont list the tank, new players are fond of it) so there will be less players asking "Where can I find the NRG, please tell me, I'm new!!!" several times In Game.

If there will be a proper Teritory system, adding gang area's might be a good addiction.
Of course you may list more than one Businesses, as long they are based on property or strong based ideas.

If its a Gang house you are pretty sure about you or any other gang member will own in new scripts its possible.

To everyone:
But Its also up to others whether we Do or not Do accept gangplaces.
It might be cool, but a business only map might be more efficent in some ways.
I might ad gangplaces with another marker instead like a pin or flag to prefent Business Area markers getting messy.

Yea.. please don't make it a gang map. Its more trouble than its worth, businesses are much harder to dispute over. You wouldn't exactly get some guy claiming the Cowhouse and getting away with it, would you? :P

I'll post Logos for the Cowhouse when I've approved them with the owners.

I am aware this might be harder than It seems.
Like the business of Adam cooper, while it is a business indeed, I think claiming whole SF airport can give some trouble to.
In this case I think its more likely to claim a Airway company instead, this allowes more payers to start an airway business there own.
This means I will put all large public places for example the airpots under 1 area, and by selecting it a player will be noticed about the available airways. This means also that a airway business will be listed on ALL airports. So at the end it has a disadvantage of not having your own strip, but on the other side you will be listed on all airports.

@Panda For claiming places there must be either or these things:

1. You own the place and you are willing to physically own it again in the new script.
2. You have a solid, proper and well considered plan and you find the need to have a certain area on the map.

The last one is very hard to discuss, since sometimes its hard to decide whether it is a well considered plan and whether it isn't.
If you have a business that doesn't require a area like for example a Train, Taxi, Bus, Airway or Limo business I think its the best to list it the same as the airways will be. If its a Train company, the company might be listed when the player selects on of the available trainstations.

I was thinking of a advertise thingy to at both sides of the map. But listing business comes first :)

With more businesses to come, this would cause a larger file and a mess for me in sorting out the businesses.
Also I needed to Remake every Bussines ad over and over. I have changed this. Now I have all the info stored in an external file, that can be made by anyone who would like to have a business listed. Instead of myself adding the businesses manually, now you can give me a "ready to inject" file for the XML feed. For some this might be hard to understand, but believe me, it makes the things much easier.
For the business holders this means they ( if they want to ) can host a ad image and give the link to me, it will then automatically appear in the map.
Re uploading a updated ad picture with the same name to the same server will automatically change the pic on the map. Thinks of this when you are doing a weekly discount? You can ad the special discount image yourself and it will be listed.

You can allways post them, but putting them on them on the map needs more time than I have on the moment. As soon as I have some time I will add all business posts ad once. I am not changing to the XML input method since this takes more time on the moment that adding them manually.
I can allways do this later, as long as the businesses are listed.
