Title: Allowed or Not Allowed?
Post by: CharlieKasper on October 21, 2010, 06:53:33 pm
Hey Guys!!
I just found out about this -->
MTB Jump - Allowed or Not Allowed? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NyQecPOfSg#)
Basically, you guys can see i'm jumping higher then a normal MTB can do. Then i came to know about it " How to do it." (I'm not going to tell
How to do it as it can be abused)
So i asked JayL, if it is allowed, He said No... (Though he seemed to be not sure)
So i just want to say you guys that it is Punishable if we do so (As it is not allowed).

Can any DEV/Owner Comfirm it?
If Yes, then nobody should try it.

Off Topic : How to post the video on this page? :S

FYI, the bike acceleration is officially considered as a glitch also.

And Aragorn/Gandalf told long time ago that you can use it AS LONG AS you dont get advantage. Like only use it for stunts, not for getaways etcera.

I don't think it is allowed as it's included in the glitching area... By the way, I know how you do it, it's quite easy :)

I wouldn't recommend you to use it, especially showing it here in public.
People will misuse it 90% of the times.

The up-arrow glitch on bikes is(should) be allowed as it is not, in fact, a glitch within the game, but rather a feature to the handling of bikes.

Notice in the picture, under Lean, it says "Forward Force." Believe it or not, GTA SA actually has a "realism" kind of thing to it, but it's quite exaggerated in this case. When you lean forward IRL, you create a forward force, which should theoretically make the bike go faster. This is not the case in IRL, as the bike is much heavier than a human being. In GTA SA, there really is no Newton's Laws, so when you lean forward on the bike, it actually makes you go faster.
Not to mention, when you bend over like you do in GTA SA, it makes you more aero-dynamic...

:ps: Yes, I know the picture is crappy, but I CBA to resize and all that mess.

The leaning forward -method aka. RAD's Method has been used since the game was launched for PS2 in 2004.
Nothing special to it, although there's more into the method than just leaning forward on a bike.

I hope though that you didn't tweak those settings for your game... :D

I tweaked a Sultan to go up to 500 and its acceleration to be 60. It doesn't work in San Andreas: Multiplayer (SA:MP uses the DEFAULT ONLY).

I've done it IN FRONT of administrators. I've even PM'd one saying "Hey, check this out" and did it. He just went "LOL" in approval.

There is not secret how to jump that high, you need submachine gun in hand, press  jump + fire (fast, once).
When bikes were added, i remember, Likvidy or... someone else was banned or tbanned for Jump Hax :D

Regarding the arrow-key(leaning forward) speed thing on bikes, it is allowed.

And for the mountain bike jump I see no probem with it (I do it myself when i'm bored) as long as you aren't using it to get an advantage over others.

If I remember correctly, long ago it wasn't allowed. I'm speaking of 2008-09 when the bikes future was uncertain. I do not know if that has been changed over time, though.

Did it myself to get to the top of Araatus HQ, and other high buildings.
I don't see the problem doing it if your just messing around on the bicycles.

I asked the question a while back. It's allowed, as long as you don't use it to get to places you couldn't otherwise get to.

Example: Abusing glitch to get ontop of a building for some reason would easily result in punishment: glitch abusing..

Don't use this to get advantage from people (cops), it'd be fine otherwise I think.

This makes sense however. You can sitll get a NRG/PCJ on the Araatus HQ, if you have the skills.

Far too many objects there, I prefer to do it on ParUni as it happens.

The original reason bikes were removed was becuase of people using the unrealistic jumping to get away as suspects. This was also the main reason for limiting the use of (fast) bikes as suspect.

there is no problem in jumping and having fun, but if you use the jumping abilities to make impossible getaways, expect trouble for yourself or for the whole server.

So we can just use it for fun without expecting for any punishment?
And if we use it for our own advantage, we will get punishment?

If Yes, Okay

I remember when we used to glitch hunt for the heck of it, not to abuse them. Cement Man, anyone?

Using this for advantages such as jumping above buildings to escape from cops is not permitted and will result in punishment..
