Title: Time Traveller in Charlie Chaplin Movie ?
Post by: Brainiac on October 31, 2010, 06:25:42 pm
A few days ago a movie director  discovered something interesting in one of Charlie Chaplin's films.  More precisly an old lady who seems like she's talking at a mobile phone ....
Whats strange in this ?  Well the movie is from 1923 ... and in that year ofc mobile phone was a SF thing.
A few sayed that she was just holding something at her ear.... but the image was zoomed and you can acctually see her lips move ... so she's talking at that device more or so......

Here's a video with the guy who discovered the scene :

I wondering, what if the movie is not really made in 1923 but in a year more close to our time

In 1923 there were no electric hearing aids like there are today.
What she is using is an ear trumpet, for people who have trouble hearing.

This comment is more suitable for the video:

Quote
no, It's an iPod and she is talking on messenger with the leader of planet Zerg.
She is saying that you are an paranoic idiot looking for ghosts

You found out this yourself, or did you read further in their "investigations" ?

else you just answered a question for 4 million people ;)

But with who is she talking ? There's no one near her, and you can cleary see her lips move, saying something .... :\

Maybe she is talking to herself. For example, if you need to remember something it is better to speak out loud to yourself rather than just thinking it in your head over and over again.
Far more plausible than any time traveler theory as time traveling purely logically is impossible.

Ronnel may be true, as you can see she IS talking to someone or to herself. But on the other hand, how big is the ear trumpet? What she is holding looks something similar to the size of a cellphone(not saying it is one).

After watching the movie a second time, I changed my mind. I mean, she's moving her hand a little, like she's scratching herself above the ear as she might be mumbling something to herself meantime?

If not this one, it is likely to be a Sony Ericsson W580 without a doubt. ;)

Nah.. looks like a Droid.

New slogan: Droid does Time Travel

Gandalf does have a point on hearing aids, maybe she walked out of a clinic testing it herself by talking?

I do not think she is holding anything, at the end, before the clip ended, she like opened her hand a bit and I saw that there was nothing there, she was like, holding the hat or something and mumbling about something, or she was probably talking to the man infront of her.
