The DJ Boozman Show Presents...
Pink Floyd: The Wall
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_myX5Q4qMDhY/TE9mBabrwrI/AAAAAAAAFS4/z7AhHetWLBc/s1600/pink-floyd-the-wall.jpg)
The Wall is the eleventh studio album by English progressive rock group Pink Floyd, released as a double album on 30 November 1979. It was subsequently performed live with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into a film, Pink Floyd The Wall. As with their previous three studio albums The Wall is a concept album, and deals largely with themes of personal isolation. It was first conceived during the band's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, where bassist and lyricist Roger Waters' frustration with the spectators' perceived boorishness became so acute that he began to imagine building a wall between the performers and audience. The album is a rock opera that centres on the character Pink, who is largely based on Waters. Pink's life experiences, which begin with the loss of his father during the Second World War, and continue with abuse from his schoolteachers, an overprotective mother and the breakdown of his marriage, factor into his self-imposed isolation from society, represented by the metaphorical "Wall" of the album title. The Wall features a notably harsher and more theatrical style than Pink Floyd's previous releases. Keyboardist Richard Wright left the band during the album's production but returned as a salaried musician, performing during later concerts. Hugely successful upon its release, in the United States (US) the album was one of the best selling of 1980. It is one of the best-selling double albums of all time, and is in the top five best-selling albums of all time in the US.
The DJ Boozman Show will be playing the album in it's entirety Saturday, November 13th, 2010. This is described as not only Pink Floyd's greatest album, but one of the greatest rock albums to ever be released. Catch it on the next DJ Boozman Show at our temp location: http://radio.mikroware.nl/?p=home/. (http://radio.mikroware.nl/?p=home/.)

The DJ Boozman Show Presents...
Spotlight: Nirvana
(http://i53.tinypic.com/2cg4r6.jpg)
The DJ Boozman show will be kicking off it's program with a new series to be features on AGR. Spotlight will feature an artist or band that has done something great in the music world and we will play some of their greatest hits. We will be starting Spotlight with the originators of the 'Grunge' genre, Nirvana, with songs such as Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as you are, Lithium, and Heart Shaped Box.
Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990. The band established itself as part of the Seattle music scene, releasing its first album Bleach for the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the band's lead single from its second album Nevermind (1991). Subsequently, Nirvana entered into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. As Nirvana's frontman, Kurt Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation," with Nirvana being considered the "flagship band" of Generation X. Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, believing Nirvana's message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public. The third Nirvana studio album In Utero (1993), challenged the group's audience, featuring an abrasive, less-mainstream sound. Nirvana's brief run ended following the death of Cobain in 1994, but the band's influence and popularity endured in the years that followed. In 2002, "You Know You're Right", an unfinished demo from the band's final recording session, topped radio playlists around the world. Since its debut, the band has sold over 25 million albums in the United States alone, and over 50 million worldwide.

The DJ Boozman Show Presents...
Spotlight: Metallica
(http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c68/Ramcos/MetallicaLogo.png)
The DJ Boozman show will be honoring one of the worlds biggest bands, Metallica, in this weeks Spotlight. We'll showcase songs such as Master of Puppets, Seek and Destroy, Fade to Black, and One.
Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1981. The band was founded when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich had posted in a local newspaper. Metallica's line-up has primarily consisted of Ulrich, rhythm guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, while having had a number of bassists (Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton, and Jason Newsted). The bassist is currently Robert Trujillo. The band's original lead guitarist, before Hammett, was current Megadeth guitarist and lead vocalist Dave Mustaine. Metallica's early releases included fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship that placed them as one of the "big four" of the thrash metal subgenre alongside Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, during the genre's development into a popular style. The band earned a growing fan base in the underground music community and critical acclaim, with the 1986 release Master of Puppets described as one of the most influential and "heavy" thrash metal albums. The band achieved substantial commercial success with their eponymous fifth album (also known as The Black Album), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. With this release the band expanded its musical direction resulting in an album that appealed to a more mainstream audience.
Metallica has released nine studio albums, three live albums, two EPs, 24 music videos, and 45 singles. The band has won nine Grammy Awards, and has had five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200, making Metallica the first band to do so; this record was later matched by the Dave Matthews Band. The band's 1991 album, Metallica, has sold over 15 million copies in the United States, and 22 million copies worldwide, which makes it the 25th-highest-selling album in the country. In December 2009, it became the highest-selling album of the SoundScan era, surpassing 1997's Come On Over by country artist Shania Twain. The band has sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide as of the release of their latest album, Death Magnetic. As of December 2009, Metallica is the fourth best-selling music artist since the SoundScan era began tracking sales on May 25, 1991, selling a total of 52,271,000 albums in the United States alone.
