A Closer explantation of my situation :
On this laptop i have 2009 Windows Vista SP1.But as you have observed, the new games only run smooth with vista,if you have SP2.So my question(s) :
1)Where can i get SP2 update/DL from?
2)Is there a way i can still keep my files ? Like, only windows files are being re-done but MY files (Documents, programs) stay the same.
I appreciate any positive comment // Help :)

Another big question, which might be more important :
Can i install Windows 7 Ultimate with this bios way etc. with keeping my basic files?or do i HAVE TO format my Hard disk ?
-
I dunno how the Upgrade from Windows from Win Vista to 7 works. But from my knowladge
should a Upgrade always keep you user datas. However you should still make a backup of
your HDD ^^ just in case!
-
I've actually upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista SP1 to Windows 7.
If you do an upgrade, all your personal files and such will still be there, and the same goes for any programs that you have installed, so you won't need to reinstall anything. Pretty much everything will be the same, so there's no need to create any backups.
My advice is to forget about the service pack and just upgrade to Windows 7.

So you say that, when i start the Win7 Installer(After setting bios things),i dont need to click "format" button?Games&Files will be normally available, while win7 will be installed?
If it is so,then i will do it this weekend <3
Thanks so far =)

If I recall correctly, you just need to click an Upgrade button, then follow the prompts. Also, I'm pretty sure I ran the upgrade from Windows, so you shouldn't need to mess with your bios.

Yes, everything should be available.

Okay now I installed windows 7 without any negative issues except one, which ruins it all.
After I finished installing,it prepared for first use.then after restarting ,the vista bar appeared instead of the win7 one.then a grey screen with the words 'please wait a moment...'
And then the acer eRecover crap appeared.i tried it with 'exit' but after 2 times,it always returns there.is there still a way to get rid of that or did I finally mess up my laptop?
Please help me...
-
What exactly does eRecover say?
-
'restore system from factory default' and 'restore system from users ...' something like that. Problem is that I cant click any of them .i have to choose exit, which makes it restarting and leads to the same point.maybe I should have turned it off before installing
-
It sounds like some acer protocols or something have interfered with the installation. It'd try booting the DVD and see if it still shows something about upgrading, and if it does, go ahead and attempt the upgrade again.
BTW, 'restore system from factory default' would probably wipe all your files.

Hi Emre,
Sounds like you have had some fun getting this to work.
Heres Some advice that should help getting you on your way..

If you are upgrading to SP2, there is no reason to think about changing your files! No recovery option needed!
Can i install Windows 7 Ultimate with this bios way etc. with keeping my basic files?or do i HAVE TO format my Hard disk ?
Depending on your version of Vista, (64bit or 32bit!) There should be no problem upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista! No format required.
So you say that, when i start the Win7 Installer(After setting bios things),i dont need to click "format" button?Games&Files will be normally available, while win7 will be installed?
You do not need to use the bios option to Perform an UPGRADE. If you start the setup inside windows (if you prefer to do it this way) then you will see an upgrade option.
Yes, there is a way you can avoid formatting via the Bios option but I would not think that this is necessary with your requirements.

Looks like I didnt get there fast enough, I was going to say its a bit like shooting a fly with a canon, to get better gameplay Windows 7 Doesnt solve much! (unless you wanted the new interface)
After I finished installing, it prepared for first use. Then after restarting ,the vista bar appeared instead of the win7 one. Then a grey screen with the words please waits a moment...'
I Have had this before, It happens when you have not got the correct Graphics Drivers installed, there is no problem here, after an update or two you will get the nice Starting Windows Screen.
And then the acer eRecover appeared.i tried it with 'exit' but after 2 times,it always returns there.is there still a way to get rid of that or did I finally mess up my laptop?
This Depends on 2 Factors..
How did you install Windows 7 and were you patient with the install. Windows 7 Can take an age, even on some of the fastest laptops of today, if you were impatient with the install (which means when it looks like it was crashing, you turned it off prematurely) then you may have messed it up. Windows is fairly clever on figuring out what goes on, if you can, try continuing with the install (basically escape from the Recovery and check to see if there is a Resume Setup option anywhere.
'restore system from factory default' and 'restore system from users ...' something like that. Problem is that I cant click any of them .i have to choose exit, which makes it restarting and leads to the same point.maybe I should have turned it off before installing
If you choose Restore System From Factory Defaults it will reset the whole computer, so you can say bye bye to any of your documents.
Not A Good Idea To Use This Option!
If you cannot go past this point, I would think the damage has been done and you need to start the setup again, this is a little set back but nothing major, just remember that you are installing a massive amount of data (off the dvd) so its going to take A WHILE I would seriously give it a whole day (5hrs) to complete the install reason being is that then you know no matter what, you have done the best.
I would say that the reason you are experiencing these issues is because the setup has not been able to complete.
If you still continue to have problems, I would suggest that as a final action, see if you can find out what error is happening, and try the Bios option (without FORMAT) up to 3 times then you know all the routes have been taken.
Good Luck and Happy Gaming!
