I'm looking for a program to record game play, but it needs to be one with minimal to no lag.
-
Gamecam, Fraps.
Usually lag depends on the FPS rate you're recording in. Try lower the FPS-rate!
-
Fraps is an absolute fail in terms of performance, but I'll give GameCam a shot.

Regardless of what FPS I record at, it lags like shit.
-
Fraps will lag at any powerless CPU....
I've got a core 2 quad here.. and If I record a game where I get 120FPS while playing.. I'll get around 90FPS while recording..
if I get 90FPS while playing, then I'll get 60FPS while recording.. and goes like this.

Tried ZDSoft ?

Though it records fine in other modes, I can't get my ZD Soft to record things when I'm gaming in full screen. Tried multiple games and even reinstalling the program, but I just can't get working. It's not that it records rubbish, but more that it doesn't record at all.
-
You could also try wegame, I had some pretty good results, but I prefer fraps on my current system.

Wegame's good. But if you can't run that as well then you should really consider a new CPU.
-
Minus the frequent crashing and an inability to record sound (for a lack of "Stereo Mix" on my sound driver), WeGame actually works pretty good, or at least in the sense that it doesn't lag that much.
-
If you have Stereo Mix missing and you're using Windows 7, the fault is in faulty drivers.
Windows 7 likes to install drivers that work, but that are not necessarily the ones provided by the manufacturer.
-
Yes, I'm on Windows 7, but no, my audio driver wasn't installed by the OS. It's from my laptops manufacture.
-
I had the same, but after downloading the correct drivers from the manufacturer (in my case Realtek), the Stereo Mix appeared in my sound devices and I was able to use it.
-
The problem is that Sigmatel removed Stereo Mix support for my particular driver from Vista upwards. However, I managed to get an older XP driver working, so now WeGame seems to record audio fine.
