Let's get some discussions going. :)
--------
What did bring you to Vice City Multiplayer, and of course our Argonath RPG server?
I am sure all of us have our own unique stories, so I thought it might something interesting.
Here's my own story...
It's quite odd to think that the chances of me being here right now were pretty slim. It actually started around Christmas, 2005. I had wanted Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the PS2, but annoyingly (back then), my father got Vice City by mistake. After playing it for a while I got quite into it, and it became one of my favourite games of the time - though I had already loved playing it at my friend's house. Later on, something happened to my copy of Vice City - I am sure it's still here somewhere, but anyway - and I was disappointed that I couldn't play on it any more.
A few years after that, I thought it might be cool to try out the game on the PC, and got myself a copy. On completing the storymode again, it brought back my awesome feel for the game. Then I thought to myself; "Wouldn't it be pretty cool if you could play this as a multiplayer?". So I searched YouTube mainly to see if it was at all possible, and I found out that a a group of noobs called the VC:MP Team had already beaten me to the idea.
This was around 2008, but it was only later on that I managed to properly install and have a go on VC:MP. As the usual newcommer to the scene, I mainly flicked through the servers, trying each one to see what it was all about. Before long, I got the hang of things, and was quite liking the plain old deathmatch servers that were available. That was up until one (epic) day, when I found a server under the name of "Argonath RPG". I connected, to find people mostly driving around. I noticed some random player standing in the middle of the runway at Escobar International, and thought it would be a pretty good idea to go and take him out - assuming that this was another deathmatch server, as that was the only type that I had encountered so far, and not knowing what on earth RPG stood for in Vice City. After managing to take that player down, with my fists, I found that (to my luck) it was someone called Leonardo!
So, after my first and only ice cold freeze, I got a better hang of this new kind of gaming within VC:MP, and began visiting the server almost every day - soon forgetting about the initial deathmatch servers that I had ran into. Before long, I found myself quite heavily involved in Argonath RPG and it was truly awesome. I had met a great bunch of people, most of whom I still know to this day.
Now, 2 years on and having visited most of the active VC:MP servers, there is no doubt that Argonath RPG is the most enjoyble, and my personal favourite. Looking back on it, I am surprised how close I was to probably never ever finding out, let alone coming to Argonath. If anything I would have been on SA:MP now, and I would never know what I was missing out on.
It's odd how these little things seem to control life. I thought it would be an appropriate time (at least personally) to post this topic: from Christmas 2005 to Christmas 2010 - VC all the way.
So, what's your story?

So, what's your story?
Well, in short.
I was a huge Grand Theft Auto fan ever since first playing GTA3 on the playstation. I was only like eight or nine back then. It was only because my brother was older that I got to play it. Well I never really understood the game properly back then, I just went on rampages. Then when Vice City came out I started playing the story missions and that. I clearly remember getting stuck on that mission where you steal the boat. I got my friend to complete it for me because I clearly sucked at the game. Vice City soon became my most played game however and when I heard about the release of San Andreas, I bought it the day it came out. Playing that like constantly I soon lost interest in it after completing it.
A few months or years past by and I felt like playing San Andreas again. To my surprise the blasted thing wouldn't load. I didn't want to buy it again for the playstation, as I hardly ever played the playstation at the time. So I thought, what the heck I'll buy it for PC. I installed San Andreas on my PC to find that it lagged like hell. Anyway I completed it and that was it, back in the shelve with the one-off games like Mall Tycoon.
After finally watching Scarface for the first time, it brought memories back of Vice City, the 80s. So I bought it for PC, as my PS2 version was long gone; probably sold for a buck in a garage sale. Anyway after playing the game through again I remember how much I loved the game. It was then that I started modifying the game. I downloaded all those crappy OTT mods that basically ruin the game.
Again a few months or years past when a friend of mine said he played VC:MP. So I searched for VC:MP and found their site. I remember back then they had this weird net-like backdrop on the site. It was actually a lot better than what the site is currently. So anyway after downloading it I went straight to the online tab and had a look. That's when I noticed Argonath RPG. I never even took notice of the other servers. I don't really remember why I went straight for Argonath. It was like.. my destiny :o
My first day on Argonath was kind of normal. Well I remember entering and spawning as SWAT. After randomly roaming around for a bit I saw Kitsune (Back then known as Ghost) talking to some other player. I was like "Hi, how do I make money here?" Ghost basically told me the basics of cop duty back then (Kill criminals and earn cash). I started playing it a lot being the typical Rambo-Dirty-Harry style SWAT officer with highly overpowered weaponry. Always SWAT, always Class 2. The usual thing a newb did back then. I remember playing Argonath the minute the clock turned 2008. It was actually that night, the last night of 2007 that I joined this forum.

Long long time ago..I can still remember...and so on as I can't remember lyrics.
Anyways how I joined Argonath.
It was Around March 2008 when I suddenly found myself thinking that how cool it would be to have chance to play Vice city and San andreas with others. Soon after that I heard from my nephew (Rudy) that it's possible. I got so excited about that and started to look for it. I found out about VCMP and I dowloaded the client. Happily I did not had that much troubles to install it. I was really newbie with all pc stuff back then.
Then when I finally got my hands to it..I am not sure if Argonath was ..no it was not..it was not my first server. I remember that I went to some DM server first but as I have not ever liked DM, I tried another one and that was Argo. I was impressed that there is server which match with my dreams. Where people are roleplaying. Since that moment I have been loyal to Argonath servers.
Tho my first days in the server was not that clean. Some of you (Atleast Klaus) remembers player called Made_man. Oh boi he was making so much troubles. And yes I admit that I was being his friend short time and I money cheated with him. But short after that I realized that I do not want to be this way and I refused to play with him anymore and I started to follow rules and make sure that others does that too. In the end it was right choice to do as I was part of teams what I did not even dared to dream about back then :) Now I have been away for while from VCMP. But while being away I started to miss it and realized that I want to be here. I have been playing around SAMP, MTA VC, MTA SA and IVMP too. But after playing in all those..I still missed VCMP, my home.

When VCMP 0.3z released, There was a topic on Argo forum suggesting argonath to have a server there. http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=1954.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=1954.0)
Surprisingly, i didnt liked Argonath having 2 servers for VC...because player count in VC was pretty less and I didnt wanted half players playing VCMP, half MTAVC.....so i voted "No" in that poll
But, The "Yes" votes pwned "No"...so ArgonathRPG started in VCMP.
So, i checked out VCMP...played DM till the server was in developing stage...went in Beta tests, and when it was released i decided to move to VCMP :D.

Full story, including how i came to Argonath, with explict content :o
I was always a fan of GTA,from Grand theft auto for Playstation, along Playstation 2,over to PC.Since i was 8/9 Years old :devroll:
Anyways. It was January '08.My mate took the Vice City CD with him to play here.We installed it,everyone played a couple missions. Then, when i was looking for GTA videos around youtube and myVideo ( German video page ),i found videos, which included mods.Modded cars, modded worlds. And i had to get it myself,so i looked at the posted sources (such as gtainside, filefront, etc.) and then i looked through the mods and modded a few cars.
Then, around September,i looked at "Mods" for modifications like buildings or maps. Then i saw the "Multiplayer" section.I saw MTA:VC,Vice City Multiplayer, and GTA tournament,i loaded all of them, but failed on 2 of them ; Gta tournament and MTA.VC:MP was luckily working.
I was going through the servers and i was kinda new in the VC:MP world.I was going through 1,2 DM servers, and then found N** or N***r RPG,played there for around a month, and then took a break far until March.I went through the servers, finding Argonath RPG only then ( Although i could have seen it long time ago  ) And then,i joined.I told them,i was from N*N,and luckily they welcomed me and introduced me the server ( I was suprised about that, after i heard about the hatred between the 2.I joined the Montana Family, doing some Old School RP (Gosh, those were great times) and always having trouble with this guy, called TeaM_Klaus and his MP5  .Anyways, there were a few disagreements in the Family,so i left, and not long after that rejoined, which was for around 2-3 times. Then,i saw Alarba and i thought (Truth : llama llama w00t w00t !class 2) "I think i remember him",and so was it.
Anyways, then i heard, that VC:MP was the place, were alot of great Veterans have played for a long time.I felt great to spend time in VC:MP.
After a short break at SA:MP (While the VC:MP Server was half beta-testing and half down) and returned,as soon as VC:MP was playable.
Now i am sure : No Game,No Browser for GTA Multiplayer can beat VC:MP. And no server, noany server can be better than Argonath RPG :)

I have to say, those are some really good stories.
GTA: VC was the first Grand Theft Auto game (and sandbox style game) that I had tried, and even though it is one of the older games (released in 2002 - almost 9 years ago!), I think it's just so fun to play that you keep coming back to it, no matter what - as Klaus & Dex have already mentioned.
And about MTA:VC - it seems quite cool, but I wonder how it would be if Argonath had stuck to one of the Vice City multiplayer mods.
-
i remember, at the year of 2003, my brother came to me, and showed my the cover of vice city, i asked, wtf is that? and he told me, its f**king grand theft auto, vice city.
i had no idea of the gta series that time, so i didnt understand why he was so... excited.
i seen him play, and i understood, that its cool, so i played it for a few hours, and i understood even more, its not just a cool game, its THE game, its the best f**king game ever made, that day, i became a gamer
so, i played it for like 1-1.5 years, and then, my brother f**king gave it away, so i moved on to different games, so a few years later, i started playing san andreas multiplayer, to see how it is, since the game is all hipe, and i understood that is a f**king piece of shit, and a waste of time.
and one day, i tought.. hmm.. if theres san andreas multiplayer, i bet theres vice city multiplayer!
googled it, found it, got vice city again, installed, first server i got into, Argonath RPG, and i asked the first admin who responded to my question: "whos an admin here?", i asked axxo, "what are the rules? is there a forum", and then, he gave me the adress, and i /c away reading rules'd, and came back to play the greatest multiplayer game ever, and lived happily ever after.
The end. :)

Since the original GTAs on the PS1 I've always been a huge fan of the series. Then on 2001 it happened, I had a gamegasm, the release of GTA 3. Back then I was absolutely blown away with the gameplay, graphics, storyline and mostly the freedom.
I was an excellent way to relieve stress, but I got bored with it and moved onto the Metal Gear Solid Series (completed every game on the hardest difficulty :'() but in 2002 it was when it got really interesting.
After being a HUGE fan of Scarface I saw the trailer for Vice City and I was hooked immediately, to the shirt of Tommy Vercetti to the Bank Mission it was the PERFECT game. Staying up all night to complete it, doing side missions and driving hookers into the water the game still hasn't left me even after 8 years.
Then on 2004 San Andreas was released I found it to be the best game of the series story wise but it didn't have the impact as Vice City.
Sure it had 2 player multiplayer, a stoner called the Truth and the ghetto but it didn't have the thrill of grabbing a Jason mask and shooting everyone in a bank.
Then one day when visiting a game store I saw Vice City for the PC, I don't even know why I picked it up because my PS2 one was still working.
I played it, loved it.
When I saw you can add your own textures I came across Multiplayer, to me I couldn't believe they were offering GTA MP for free.
I played the TDM servers for awhile but they were really BADLY run and then one day I came across Argonath RPG.
I remember the first thing I did was hold someone hostage at the pier with a locked car, ahh good times.
Another memory was the TAC vs SFS clan in Haiti fighting over the Junkyard. I think it was me, alarba, Assassin vs Blaze and his crew.
They got banned....lol
I have alot of good memories, which brings me to my return two years (I think) later.
-
Will post my story tomorrow, really nice to read y'all stories. :)

Good stories.
Pretty much in every single one I have read so far, there seems to be a recurring factor. Just something about Vice City that brings you back to it. Either we love it so much, or we are trapped here for the rest of our lives. :P

The (BL) days. Those were great times. Made_Man aka Daco, everyone hated that guy.

Lol, that was a great war. Both teams we're spawning Drug Dealer constantly and stubby fighting each other at the warehouse. Too bad stuff like that can't happen nowadays.
always having trouble with this guy, called TeaM_Klaus and his MP5

Nice stories y'all.
All started back in 2000-2002, Some rainy days, I remember my dad came on day and gave me 2 CDs for my playstation 1! :) It was Driver 2 & GTA 1, Hehehe.. I was addicted to both of these games, Later on playstation 2, I had described my father a cover of some CD, but he mistakenly got GTA 3 hehe :) I've finished the game and stuff, moved to Vice City.. Finished it.. San Andreas... Liberty City Stories.. and boom.. All were done.. That time I had gotten my first ever pc, a gift from my parents for my then grades.. I was playing games and stuff, and I also had Vice City on pc these days.. It was one of the days I was looking for multiplayer games, and I came across VC;MP.. I saw it, downloaded it.. and first ever server to join, it was =Rebel Mafia= back in 2007.. :) Was there for around 9-11 months, until I've been bored of them, it was back then when the =RM= was attacking Argonath... I kept entering argonath with my original name back then (=RM=Ghost_Dog) and I remember people like JayL welling at me '=RM= Empty again dog?" Hehe.. I liked the server.. but I did not quite stay much.. I only played for a couple of weeks, after which I had gotten a new PC.. A better one which could play GTA SA :). So by that moment.. VC:MP was past for me, as I was addicted to GTA SA by long time, and I did not longer interest to VC:MP... Nowdays, I drop from servers sometimes to see the old times.
Maybe I was not a regular at VC-MP Argonath at all, but I quite enjoyed my time on the VC:MP.
