Title: Greed and its consequences - be warned.
Post by: Cutt3r on December 03, 2010, 09:14:55 am
Greed for money, cars, money, houses, money and business, seems to be the order of the day. On verification of logs, multiple cases of greed are coming to light, in fact, it has gone to the extent of people using complex schemes of money cheating to get that extra 10k. But remember two things - (1) logs record almost every move a person makes and (2) every thief leaves a clue. You can try changing your ip, you can try changing your isp, your house, your country, hell, go to Mars and connect from there even...But you will be caught, sooner or later.
I write this in the hope that my young friends do not involve themselves in such pathetic acts for a few more numbers on their screen or a block of pixels to call their own in the virtual world. Remember, we are getting more strict with our friends. People caught hacking a second time are not coming back anytime soon.  Similar fate may be met with such people who money cheat. People rulebreaking frequently suffer insane periods of ban. Haven't you wondered 'why the fuck is the manager such an asshole, giving such a period of ban, it is a game!' To know the answer, you should put yourself in my position and see what the person has done as recorded in logs, see how he has shitted on developer's work...
Contrary to popular belief I am not interested in keeping you banned permanently from server. In fact, I envision a full server, with happy rule-abiding players. But if people take Argonath RPG for granted and cheat, thinking 'hell, I will get an unban anyway, even if it is a month later LOL' - you may well be wrong. Argonath will close it's doors on you, as it has done to many, if you involve yourself in cheating multiple times. You will have none to blame for your actions but yourself. Be warned.

This is going good. Stricter structure. I myself experienced playing as a hacker and got banned. I was even lucky those were the times that you guys were doing easy on players. I also observed that current cases are all about money cheating and multi-accounting.

This should have been administration policy on SAMP since 2007.

Why don't you make another property-lockdown? Might help, as people were more calm about properties, money etc. when there used to be this lockdown. That's the best thing I can come up with that will also give the property admins a break. The game change, but the players remain the same?

We can assume that those people exist in the virtual world of Argonath.

That is so false. I won't tell why, you might guess tho.

I fully agree with Cutter here. Holy crap, this is shocking. I was also trying to write something like this. Hell Cutter, you broke into my mind? :)

Anyways, It's all true what this man wrote. I've experienced all and now i found out that you can not do everything with money.

Admins will always find out if you cheat/hack. Even after a couple of months. I am the proof :)

i will agree with melvin, as a multi-millionaire within argo,  once you have money, there really not much to do with it, thats why we need to focus more on RP and not money. it hink in the past 2-3 days, ive given away over 50k to just random players who are broke.

They will get you dude.

Or you're working for FBI?

i think that this is good, people who're banned are now like "Hmm I will get unbanned in 2 week max, I can live with that". So maybe when you give them a tempban of like 2 months they will start realizing stuff.

Tis better to be strict than easy in a game like this,

This is true. For the four weeks i had 4 millions, I had nothing to do except give away my money. I mean, obviously I could roleplay, but at that time I was playing to earn cash... after I had it, I wanted to give it away and start over.Fate had different plans. Server was hacked and I come back with 0$. Now I live with usually under 2k like I once was. Makes it easier for me to simply enjoy Argonath rather than worry 'omg money!! I need to get some!!' A reason I support a money-less demo, where everyone has unlimited money and anyone can buy anything. Not forever, but for a short time [week] and see how things go through.

True Violet, I was [AV]Betty two years ago and yes. I have done a big scam. I am sorry for it and i think the community have forgiven me for it. I've learned from it. I've started a clean future and as James Brown would have said: I feel good!

People will say "Great topic, should be an example to all" , "Yea, I know, happens all the times"
but you, and I know the same stuff will continue.

And people will still die. And people will still grow.

The true and honest fact is, that there will always be someone abusing something on the server or/and rulebreaking no matter how many players we warn and give punishments when the warned players are rulebreaking.

The thing is, how much can we reduce it?
In my opinion, we should keep the ammount of such things happening on the minimal.
In an summary, there will always be more people who are pondering to script-abuse and might do it when we are done with an similar case already.

Not even mta:vc was safe from script abuse you know.
Title: Re: Greed and its consequences - be warned.

I do not ask for perfection, in this case zero.
I strive for reduction.

You do not need MTA:VC to realize, where there is human, there is a need of power.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt... except when they hack. What puts you in the mindset to get something worthless on a FREE community filled with good friends? I honestly don't understand this sometimes..

I remember a couple of years ago, three to be precise, I joined this community for the first time. I didn't really know what to do and started by being a freecop. This was all jolly good and I was making some serious cash for the ammount I had played. Unfortunately then the /duty bug was being a pain. Not knowing what and why I had more and more weapons every time I went on duty I just bought some beforehand then went on duty and started offering the other officers to stock up from me for free. I didn't know it was wrong and no, I definitely wasn't doing it out of my will to cheat. Then one day, instead of explaining it to me, Legend (A guy who is a close friend of mine IRL, but I didn't know he played SAMP at that time) straight up banned me for weapon hacks. I didn't really know what to think back then as I knew I've never used such hacks but once they explained it to me on my unban request I immediately recognized my mistake. Point of this giant paragraph is? Well, it's simple. Some people don't know they're doing something wrong - regulars and veterans may take knowledge of the server for granted but some people don't know anything about it.

'why the f**k is the manager such an asshole, giving such a period of ban, it is a game!'

The bans the managers are giving out now are nothing compared to what we were allowed to do in mta, Agent once asked me to tempban someone for 4 years, as the policy was no unban on tempbans.

It's a given that keeping 150 players happy and catch all the rulebreakers will be hard.

I am a part of the administration team, and I work for it. Yes.

Yet, even I can see that in general, we have practiced too much leniency over the players. It is not solely the fault of the players that the server's condition is as it is right now- the administration team is also partly at fault. However, we are working to remedy this by enforcing stricter control over the server as time progresses.

I speak this about the team because I have seen its mistakes and am concerned for its welfare as well... that is the truth- it will not concern me if you take it or leave it.

Hey, aren't you that guy who used to hack in MTA:VC times?

I did not hack- I used a mod to remove the sea, enabling me to fly a helicopter into what once was the ocean. I was banned for mod usage by Grzesiek, not hack usage. Don't make up things you have no knowledge of.

He is right Violet, and he does his job properly, I have witnessed it many times.  The only other strict mod is iMunna.

Thank you... at least somebody's actually seen what I've actually been doing.
