Title: IV Issue.
Post by: Ragdoll on December 17, 2010, 02:42:08 pm
I installed the game a while back... and it worked for me. The first day it went very good at around 20-30FPS ( which was a surprise for me since I have "Intel(R) HD Graphics" for my graphics card.) The day after, the game started having a sh*tload of missing textures, to the level that all I could see was the car and Niko (+ some peds). I decided to install Patch 1.0.7.0, from then everything went downhill... the game started, and showed me an "out of video memory" error.. I restarted the comp, and tried again. This time, the game didn't even launch, it gave me an EFC20 Error (Invalid Resource Detected. Please Re-install the Game.". I downloaded Alexander Blade's EFC20 Fix. Result : I open LaunchGTAIV.exe - Nothing happens.. Can someone please help me out ?

EDIT : Forgot to mention what happens now...
GTA IV : Still gives me EFC20 Error
IV:MP : Gives me "GTA IV Fatal Error : Out of Video Memory"

PC Specs :
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz
RAM : 4.00GB (3.37GB Usable)
Windows 7 (32-bit Operating System)
Intel(R) HD Graphics ( don't tell me it won't run it, i'm running most games on medium+ quality with around 30-35 FPS )

Get a graphics card.

Working on that.. I'm talking about in the meantime.

Had same issue. Reinstall fresh, patch the game, install IV:MP. The patch has a bad habit of corrupting the game easily.

Okay, I installed the game.. and now about the patch.. do I use UpdateTitle.exe or TitleUpdate.msi ?

EDIT : I tried TitleUpdate.msi .. it shows me a "Application failed to install. Use Setup to install" error or something...

UpdateTitle.exe works though.

Ya, it's a bit confusing. Originally when it corrupted my game, I used the Microsoft Installer and the executable was erroring. Now it's the other way around, and was successful. Go figure. Rockstar should really provide some documentation there, or atleast use a better naming scheme...

Hi Niko!

Sounds like you have a corrupted file inside of GTA4!
What I would suggest, (As it is what I have had to do to remove the error) Is...
Before you start, anything, uninstall GTA4 completely, including IVMP (As there is a new version of that now anyway)

Once you are GTA4 Free, make sure you restart your computer, this should clear any files left for the garbage collector on its way out.

When your all started up again. Make sure you get the latest drivers for both your PC (from the manufactures website, or motherboard manufactures website (this does really help!) Then Download and install the Newest graphics drivers for your system at either the Nvidia or ATI website.

Once you have done this, you better do another restart for the garbage collector, then go ahead and do this:

Install GTA4 but dont play it yet!
Install Patch 1.0.7.0 Still dont play it yet!
Install the Windows For Games Market place download that is required to play GTA4.

Alright, now before we try to install IVMP, make sure that the game works for you and it works the way you want it to! if you have followed my steps completely I'm sure it will be.

Next of course make your alterations in Graphics settings, do some tweaking such as turning off Vsync and turning down the shadows (personally i turn shadows off for a huge performance boost) After that find the place to turn the handbrake cam off along with the quick capture option and your good to install IVMP!.

Good Luck & Happy Gaming!
Regards,
DellStorm

Vista SP2 and running as admin isn't needed. The Run As Administrator thing is only needed when installing. If you get weird errors that only that solves, just make it a Data Execution Prevention exception and the OS compatibility won't be needed.

What's that ?

Here we go again...

UPDATE : I fixed the RESC10 Error (had to tweak a few things in Intel Management tool )... but once again, a new error comes up...

The Video card is a shoe-in for meeting requirements ( since I played the game before, with an average of 20FPS ) and Direct-X is up to date ( I have DX11 ).

This game is just error-packed now isn't it ?

All because of BAD graphic card! Really!

I Know that... but it's good enough to run it with a few tweaks... so all I need is a tweak or fix for the TEXP70.

Actually, try installing the DX9.0c redistributable and that should solve your issue.

If you're talking about the dxwebsetup.exe that comes with the game... then nope, it didn't solve it.

I'm not. I'm talking about the one online on Microsoft's website.

FIXED IT. Some said it's impossible for GTA IV Patch 7 to work on Intel HD Graphics... I proved them wrong.

What I did :
1- Installed Clean Copy
2- Installed GFWLive
3- Installed Title Update 5 (GTAIV_TU5.exe) - Crashed near the end, but I continued anyways.
4- Installed Patch 7.
5- Disabled Software Vertex Processing for the game.

and BAM... works.

Topic can now be used for reference for Intel Graphics Users.

Thanks and good day.

Okay, I am going to tell you something.

The joker is the one that make people laugh. He can trick you easy if he wants. The only thing you need to become a "joker" is being serious while talking bullshit.
You are the one that is watching at "joker", but he tricked you. He says:

GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Unable to create depth render target - Check that
your Video Card meets or exceeds the minimum requirement. You may
also try re-installing DirectX and/or the latest video card driver.

That is just bullshit. The problem that is here is that your computer, any video card, graphic card, DirectX or any Video card driver can fix this problem.
The problem is that your game and files is "secured" and cannot be changed by re-installing the game. The only "quest" you can do now to get your game working is
-installing it into a new game folder.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to
-Formate your computer.

Easy to trick you when you think with your eyes ;)

Isnt it little bit extreme to solve that problem with format. Just for the record i had the same problem when i reinstalled the game , unfortunately there is not much use of me cause i cant remember what i did to fix it. But i fixed it and so the point of my reply is , dont solve problems with format ....

A format is the only way to get rid of constant issues with GTA IV, backup what you want, format and reinstall, all the issues will be gone.

Devin is right, format is the only thing to do to get rid of the issues. And the computer will run smoother and better.

It's actually recommended to format once a month. Just do some backups if you have more than one harddrive or split them up too two.

And if you're running w7 the re format will only take max 15 minutes. Installing all programs/games are easy.

Cheers.

1911.dll is a Razor crack, which means your game is pirated. That should have been your first clue as to why it wasn't working.

True it is a crack, but perhaps he cracked the game so he doesnt have to leave the CD in the PC the whole time like everyone else does.  ;)

You get around 20FPS, even if your camera is straight (like the whole street in front of you is loaded.) I'm using it at High Texture Quality. :D

Maybe... :P But it kind of is a b*tch to have to keep the CD inside...

Yeah.
In process of downloading GTA IV, bought it from (game.co.uk) and they offer a download service, in all should take around 2hrs for all 15GB's as am downloading 3 parts at a time at around 1.6MB.

BTW, you have to use a commandline to be able to get up to 20FPS. See here. (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=64845.0) You can only do FIRST (you'll understand what I mean when you read the topic).
