I got this ipod Nano 3g and the screen doesn't work! It still plays music though. The problem is it wouldn't start at all today, but it did yesterday. I press play to hear a song (which I did yesterday when it worked) but it wouldn't play a song. Instead I hear a scrolling noise. I keep pressing select and play, but nothing happens. Please help!

Solution : BUY A NEW ONE!

I have no idea how an iPod works, i got the 'old' fashioned MP3 player.
I'll try to give you a few tips tough.
On most of the systems, there is a 'reset' button. Try to reset the system and see if it works again.
Did you drop the iPod lately?
Try to reset the battery.
If this doesn't work, see if you still have a warranty, and return it to the store where you bought it.
-
Hold "Center Button + Menu Button" for around 7 seconds. The iPod will reset itself.

Tried that a million times, still doesn't work. Usually I just press play and a song plays, but now it doesn't do that.

Try going to the closest retail store.

I can't afford one. I got this one from my cousin.
-
son, you are fucked.
wait for Christmas and ask for an iPod touch.
-
Tried updating it? ie, upgrading firmware etc on the computer with the wire?
Dropped it recently?
-
I updated the firmware already.
And no I haven't.

son, you are f**ked.

Man, if you have nothing important to say, don't speak at all.
-
Go to an apple specialist, or Email Apple with a photo of what the screen looks like.
It may be something as simple as the backlight being broken or something.

If the backlight is broken, you should still be able to read the text if you watch very good on the screen.

I searched on google and youtube and found this video.
iPod Nano Screen Replacement Directions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnVGE7FLWZA#)
Best solution would be buying a new screen and replacing it like instructed in the video or at a local electronics store.
Very long URL link.. (http://www.ipodjuice.com/AB4F1D8928C84BDB946D9070006DB952.asp?cat_id=DB0F4AD92C33496280F12D141343615B&pcs_key=C5FAF498104F42B69D0E230657AC2A26&retpage=%2F59CA69DE181F46B69521D30B707A4ABB.asp&nm=lcd_nano_3G&spath=Home+%3E+iPod+nano&path=Home+%3E+iPod+nano&sc_id=C0DD4C6E8B564EA5AE273213A569B914)
Take a look on this site (Please don't see it as advertising) you can either send it to this site or a similar one or you can buy a new screen. It's 29 bucks, some cash, I know, but it's better than buying a new ipod.

that's not his version though. :/
