Title: Can't run the game
Post by: Philip_McRay on December 18, 2010, 12:30:26 pm
Hi, I just installed GTA IV & IV:MP. I patched to 1.0.7.0 or something like that? Now when I try to run either IV:MP or singleplayer it doesn't start?

When I click on it and log onto Social club I get the spinning CD like it would start, but then nothing happens after that.

-thanks

edit: maybe I did something wrong when I was patching the game? I just clicked the UpdateTitle.exe. There are two other files in the .rar thing;
Media1.cab (Rar file)
TitleUpdate.msi

Spec;
OS: XP Home edition
Nvidia GeFOrce 9600GT
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+,  MMX,  3DNow (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
3070MB RAM

Reinstall fresh, patch, install IV:MP. I had the same thing happen. Apparently it's easy to have 1.0.7.0's patcher corrupt your game.

The minimum requirements, or the real ones, because trust me, the minimum ones are BS. Technically speaking they don't even exist as GTA IV is so buggy on PC.

Here's the "recommended" ones by Kotaku.Com, although again, you want to aim much higher if you plan on playing lag free, especially with higher settings:

Quote from: http://kotaku.com/5049326/here-are-gta-iv-pcs-recommended-system-requirements
Processor: Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better) - Speed not listed, but I would recommend ATLEAST 2.4GHz or higher personally on multi-core systems.
RAM: 2GB
Hard Drive: 18GB free hard disk space
Video Card: 512MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader
Drive: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Operating System: Windows XP SP2

What are your specs though? If you can post them here, I can get a general idea of what you are capable of.
