Title: Temperature sensors gone wild.
Post by: Altair_Carter on December 19, 2010, 07:00:01 pm
I have recently noticed this.

When I downloaded Everest and installed some ASUS drivers to find out why my CPU cooler turns on/off so rapid, I realised that my CPU sensors are somewhat weird. At one time they are showing one temperature, now when I turn up Everest/Fan Xpert it shows 12-15 degrees less and my cooler calms down.

Just now 3 minutes ago it showed my CPU at 65-68 degrees, but when I turned on to see thru Fan Xpert it went back down to 52-53, my idle temperature of the CPU  (I know it's pretty high, fixing that issue soon). My cores don't load on more than 10-15% each.
This shit doesn't happen to my GPU.

What the hell?

Are you sure the temperatures lower because you start Everest, and not because the fan was spinning faster..?

How can a stock 9cm fan lower temperature on 10-12 degrees within 10 seconds? Unless it has 10K rpm, but it has 3,3K only.

By the way, right now while PC was idle at 48-50 degrees it didn't go crazy like it. But this does happen occasionly.

Maybe because Fan Xpert spins up the fan? My Noctua NH-D14 kicks down my temps rather quickly. After running prime 95 (i7 950, 4ghz 20x200 1.28) and my temps are around 65-70 they go down to 40 odd in a second.

Nah, that's not it.

First of all, my max fan speed is 3000 rpm.

Second, when I turn back from application (Like, CSS or GTA IV) the fan starts spinning up (it detects high temperature), when i ALT Tab to Everest it shows like 66 degrees, but then i press on refresh button and it goes back to 51. In a second.

It's the combination of the CPU suddenly going off load and the fan still spinning at a high speed, dude.
