Title: new laptop problem
Post by: Husky on December 28, 2010, 01:20:30 pm
I finally bought a new laptop and ofcourse i got a problem with it..

its an Asus X52JC

cpu: i5-520m @ 2.40GHz

ram: 4gb

graphic card: Nvidia GeForce 310m 1gb dedicaded vram

and 64bit windows 7

the problem is that I can't run any games proprly as the video card is taking all the ram by sharing it and i have no idea how to disable this, I searched in the bios, in the system settings in the nvidia control panel and google and i didnt find any solution, but im quite sure that the games should run as i saw it in the shop when i bought the laptop and on several videos where it was showing the performance of the video card. please help.

also for some reason windows 7 started to take over 2 gb ram when not running any program -_-

Have you checked for any updated drivers ?

According to a search i have just done this laptop has two graphics cards an Nvidia Geforce 310M and a Intel HD. From what i have read the Nvidia Geforce 310M is primarily for gaming and the other i assume is for desktop etc. The laptop is supposed to switch between the two automatically so maybe thats why gta 4 is showing low graphics ram.

Asus is really stupid this laptop should contain at least 6GB of ram and VGA doesn't consume the RAM's to max it only consume 20% to 40% of the ram in the high mode, about the windows 7 it needs only 512MB to run perfect so i think you might have a virus try recovering the laptop to its factory condition if it didn't work then talk to me on MSN i will help you :P
