Through multiple schemes that exist within Argonath; players have dedicated innumerable amounts of hours dedicated towards the development of newcomers. The tradition of Argonath has been implemented within the tastes of both new comers and experienced dwellers from their contributions towards the mutual goal of helping the new generation thrive. As a result, those newcomers becoming veterans and eventually instilling their own values on future newcomers.
One fine contribution from regulars and veterans has been /hduty or in other words, "helper duty." Since the implementation of the helper duty scheme; an immense amount of players have dedicated individual amounts of their personal time helping newcomer souls. With that said, the workload among administrators has been greatly reduced and involvement from players towards developing the community has greatly increased. Another absolute contribution from regulars and veterans has been TeaM School and the GS9 community where rule abiding players have dedicated timely hours delicately training new players and schooling them of the cultural values around Argonath.
Assuredly, multiple other individual groups and players have enhanced their involvement with newcomers through incorporating and instilling their own values onto newcomer souls. It's quite important that these values be expressed daily via scripts, groups, and individuals as they are vital towards our future and current generations. I myself have been a student when I was a newcomer. I would like to personally thank SAPD Officer TinMan and notorious freelance criminal Frank_Hawk for being my teachers back in March 2010 during my inception.
Let's continue to work together towards our common goal and keep up the great work, Argonath.

There are many players who regularly attend helper duty and have made it their goal to help new players, even during their personal roleplaying time.
It's good to see that there are actually some other players out there that actually still care for the community.
Because recently, it seems the number of those players have been rapidly decreasing...
Thank you to those who help. Not only do you help us administrators, but you help the community itself to grow.

I agree with what you said, but I will add another point. Recently, as seen since administration application position being open, some of the "helpers" have been only helping to receive administration attention. The attention has been seen in bad ways as the people who "help" are only doing so to achieve the rank. Personally, I can name at least two Argonath Citizens who have been this way. Before the administration application opening, they have been notorious deathmatchers and never truly helped, then, when the opening of administration applications, they have became angels.
Now, I will not personally accuse these two or name them, but I will say this: they approached many of the high ranked members (Curse, Gimli, etc.) and were all of sudden "best friends" towards them. Obviously, as seen many times before, this not only ruins chances, but creates hypocrisy between citizens.
One more thing, because of administration and it's tough duties, helpers who truly help, should encourage others to do the same. When saying to encourage, I do not mean enforce the "/ad New players! Need help? Just /ask (question) or PM ME! | Veterans, get on /hduty!". This has only received negative attention to not only administrators and community leaders, but also receive many negative attention towards citizens.
If a citizen truly strive to help new players, or even get on /hduty, they should dedicate their time to it. Recently, I seen an advertisement on the server saying, "/ad 17 /helpers on duty! COME ON GUYS, LET'S GET TO 20!". My view is that /hduty has become more of a rank than a true dedication. Now, this does not apply to everyone. Their are a few members who truly dedicate time to /hduty. These members try their best and go on explaining in private messages in case more explanation is needed. They are the true diamonds in the rough.
Another point I would like to point out is the call for administrators to help out new players also. Administrators, above all, have full power over members and should be able to nurture any of the citizens. When I joined Argonath, the only person to truly help me get started was Cutt3r. This (then administrator) person helped me understand how the police department worked and how other scripted jobs were working. He also helped me with the tutorials on how to properly roleplay and how to respect everyone. To this day, I personally thank him for giving me a head start in Argonath.
In conclusion, those who want to truly dedicate their time on /hduty should do so and should not call out via advertisement as it is annoying to many citizens of Argonath. If you want to announce for more help on /hduty, contact an administrator to use the announcement feature, rather than using the advertisement.
Seeing as my post as sort-of negative, I want to add some positive points to it.
There are a few AMAZING helpers on the server who truly dedicate their time to citizens. Not only do they answer all questions completely, but also help beyond the simple /ask answer command. I want to personally thank these helpers for their dedication to the server and that they truly strive to help ease the pain on administrators and higher ranked citizens. Thank you.

When i registered,i had no place to ask for help.I had to do it all by myself.
helper duty made the rest of the new players to get their questions answered in an easier process.

Totally agreed.

The newer version of helper duty where there is a helper chat for all to interact instead of direct peer-to-peer questions and answers has been a great update. More players being able to implement their help via /hduty on/off whereas the administration team may view them directly has prevented a lot of script abuse which used to occur secretively before. I'm pleased to see such a reform of the script and commend all those that spend time daily helping the newcomer community.
I have confidence that this script implementation will provide faster feedback from regulars and veterans towards newcomers. After this reformation, the spam on public chat has greatly reduced, players have increased possibilities towards helping the community, and administrators have gained more precise responsibilities that focus towards the newcomer community. This increase of motivation for regulars and veterans to help will surely and has helped bring in a new wave of newcomers hungry for knowledge about the server and community.
The increase in collaboration will also help regulars and veterans focus on community members they are most related to in terms of caring about the newcomer community. The countless hours that regulars and veterans dedicate daily has also created a new bridge between the community of daily players and the community of newcomers. Players may now enjoy their pleasure of the video game while helping players instead of that text box that used to pop up and handicap the player until they answered or declined the question.
Let's continue our success of working alongside each other to our common goal Argonath; the goal of a community based on quality. :)

To be frank with you, I hate the new /hduty method. New players have to go /hduty on and /h to ask question instead of just /ask. Somehow, I like the /hduty method too (Yeah, confusing), When a new player asks in /h, some will answer. Back in the old /hduty, it would be unfortunate if the new player /ask's to an AFK helper.

Wrong. Hduty is turned on all accounts by default unless you turn it off manually.

Totally agreed.

Gvardia plays its part by helping out any interested or interesting new players, typically by accepting viable new players (viable defined as those who at least have some decent level of common sense and understandable English... this might be frowned upon, but hey, we can't do much for them if they lack the two) who apply or unofficially have them as associates when they hang with us, especially around Gvardia Corp HQ. Some perfect examples of those who were raised by Gvardia and actually managed to make something of themselves in this community are Murtaugh (one of my best friends in Argonath today), Alessandro (quit), Tommy, and myself.

I'm quite excited to see that such endorsement from one group has managed to accumulate multiple new faces around the community. The increase of fluctuation within the San Fierro city of newcomers can be generally the work of Gvardia and other organizations within the San Fierro borders. I've personally experienced such work of art from within INFERNO 9 and Gvardia. All groups have their own historic differences of helping and gaining the support of newcomers from one direction or another. I challenge all individual players, law enforcements, and criminal organizations to welcome at least one newcomer into their world and examine the overwhelming outcomes.
Let's keep rocking! ;)
