Title: Auto-login & "advanced forum posting"
Post by: Thomas 'Leroy' Crof on January 07, 2011, 07:09:54 pm
I am having a problem with making some topics. Please read this:
Hey there lads,

I'm making quite some new topics on various forums and I need a little help.
Let's say there is a big mainpost which has a lot of words in it. In it, there's a few "headlines" (can't come up with the right word).

A little example:

Beefcake
Chicken, blabalabalabala, which is not good.

Example
this is an example, balalbalababla chicken noodle soup, chicken noodles, unwanted spam, spam, fish, egg, eggroll, beefcake, red meat, undigested

There's more of those with loads of more text under them. (I know my example makes absolutely no sense :D)

Now what I want, is to have a sort of directory at the very top, which would be something like:
Directory:
 - Beefcake
 - Example
 - ...

Now I want "beefcake" as a link, which will lower your scrollbar up to the point where the "Beefcake" headline (and it's text under it) is in your screen. If you press "example", your view will lower down the page up to the point where you can see the title and under it, it's text.

I think I have seen this before on the ArgonathRPG forums, but I can't seem to find the right topic.

It's kind of hard to explain, so I hope you understand and are able to help me.

- Thomas
From a trusted source (thanks El! :D) I got that it's called an "index". Maybe that could help.
Like I said in the quote, I think I've seen it before on this topic. (Somewhere in the Group and Clans board, I think) After a thorough search I was unable to find it.

The second thing that is... Bothering me, is that fact that I can no longer auto-login into these forums (on this IP).
I recently changed my password, which resulted in me having to enter my Username and Password everytime.
Before I changed my password, I would just type in "Argo" and the link would come up in the list, I would press ARROW DOWN and hit ENTER. I was automatically logged in on this website.
EDIT: Also weird that I have to log in twice in order to be logged in properly... When I log in the first time, it just re-loads the page and nothing is changed :(

I really want that back (I'm lazy :P).

Thanks in advance,
- Thomas

:ps: I'm the devil nao! I got 666 posts! xD :devroll:

Stupid question, but did you mark on the 'keep me logged in' button when logging in?

Your cookies are removed after closing browser or removed after some time?

They aren't being removed at all :P

Try messing around with logging in through these two different addresses to access the forums:

www.argonathrpg.com/forum (http://www.argonathrpg.com/forum)
www.argonathrpg.eu/forum (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum)

I had the same problem with the auto-login, until I entered the forums through a different address.

Oh, and about the advanced forum posting.

What you're talking about is called an 'anchor' - creating links to the same page but only a different section.

Thanks for the help. Janar, on the WS forums, told me that and showed me how it works ;) Much appreciated once again!

I will look around with the diffirent adresses.
