All those solutions which have been posted in that topic have made no difference, GTA IV single player works but multiplayer freezes on the screen showing the statue as it is about to load to the airport.

After reinstalling it gets past the freezing issue, but now when it says " Successfully connected " it just stops there and doesnt load anymore, the FPS still go up and down and the water still moves but nothing else happens.

Are you sure you have the latest version of IVMP installed?
The latest version is R2-2, it was just released on 21/12/2010 and you can download it from the link below.

Reinstalled everything again, got it working finally.
